  My favorite hotel!

  I had the most magical experience at Le Clarisse. Everyone was so accommodating with my room, finding restaurants, and things to do! The room was gorgeous, clean, and comfortable. In a perfect area can walk everywhere. Will stay here again my next visit to Rome.   Perfect location, clean and friendly hotel

  A quiet little boutique hotel that is perfectly located in Trastavere. I arrived before check in and Sofia was kind enough to hold my luggage and asked the breakfast lady to keep the food out a bit longer so I could have a bite to eat before they closed down service for the day. The space has a quiet and pretty little courtyard where you can have a cup of tea or take your wine and a book and simply sit. I loved their quick and interesting walk, just 25-30 minutes, to the Vatican. The neighborhood is safe and has lots of trattorias and shops along the way. I saw a wedding at the nearby church and felt comfortable the entire week of my stay. Sofia was a terrific guide, suggesting where to eat, where to walk, and connecting me with car services, etc. I highly recommend and would definitely stay again.   Le Clarisse has lost its charm. Smart phone registration is a nightmare. So sad.

  Having stayed here several years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it, we had high expectations. However, Le Clarisse a Trastevere has undergone a similar decline to the neighbourhood where it is located.Trastevere has become a homogenized and mediocre area now and has lost much of its character. Similarly, Le Clarisse has lost much of its charm. The location is still good and the staff pleasant but before we even arrived, we were deluged with emails about their new electronic entry which quite frankly is a disaster. The way the emails are framed is also quite off-putting. The need for a smart phone to gain entry to the building and room is completely unnecessary and frustrating.When we arrived we were greeted quite pleasantly by the staff, and the hotel is physically much like it was on our first visit: lovely courtyard, good breakfast nook, older rooms that have been updated and the convenient location. However, the rooms are not spacious and this time we kept bumping into things in the bathroom and the room itself because of a lack of space. Toweling off after a shower each day involved leaving the bathroom to use an alcove in the entryway. Little details like the TV not working (not a big deal as we were out enjoying Rome most of the time but still ...), no alternative to the tiny elevator to get to our room (no stairs?) and the lack of a presence at the front desk at night, did not make for the happy stay we had anticipated. To make matters worse, each day street vendors peddling various items now set up shop in front of the hotel. This is not what you'd expect of a good hotel. While not necessarily their fault, this really downgrades the experience. Finally, the reserved car to the airport which we had the front desk book in advance never showed as the reservation was somehow messed up.Any one of these issues wouldn't be enough to both me, but when you add them all up, this is just disappointing. Sadly, we will probably not stay here again. I am truly sorry to learn that your second stay did not live up to the high expectations set by your first visit—especially knowing that you chose to return precisely because you had appreciated your previous experience with us.Allow me to address the points you raised:• Street vendors outside: unfortunately, this is not something we can directly control, though we fully understand how unpleasant it can be. We are actively working with the local authorities to help improve the situation in the surrounding area.• Small bathroom and compact elevator: the dimensions are linked to the historic nature of our building, which dates back to the 12th century. Nevertheless, we continually evaluate how to optimize the spaces available. It took several years of bureaucratic procedures to finally obtain permission to install an elevator, and what we have now is the maximum structure we were allowed to build. Most of our Guests consider it part of the building’s charm.• Smartphone access system: I am truly sorry for any inconvenience this caused you. The experience you describe does not reflect the standards we strive to maintain. Your feedback is extremely valuable, and we are already reviewing both the system and the automated communications to make them clearer, less intrusive, and genuinely helpful for our Guests.In light of this, I would like to offer you some concrete solutions should you decide to stay with us again:• Rooms with a physical key: in addition to the smartphone access, we have two rooms (one of the Suites and one of the Double Rooms with garden access, both located on the ground floor around the courtyard) that can also be opened with a traditional physical key. We would be happy to reserve one of these for you if you prefer.• Main entrance doors: physical keys no longer exist for the building’s main entrances, but if needed, and if you prefer not to use the links, you can always contact our emergency number for immediate assistance and remote opening in real time.• Check-in without automated emails: we fully understand how the messages you received in the past may have been disruptive during your holiday. If you choose to return, simply let us know that you prefer to check in in person, and we will disable all automated emails.We would truly appreciate the opportunity to show you that the quality of your first stay was not an exception. As a gesture of appreciation for your loyalty—and in the hope of regaining your trust—we have added a 10% fidelity discount code to your profile, valid for future stays booked directly with us.I am genuinely sorry that this experience has led you to consider not returning.   Historic and Charming

  We enjoyed our stay and would stay again. The location is great. We visited Rome during the day and returned to our rooms to shower. The location is full of great restaurants, shops, places to sit and people watch. The breakfast was enjoyable and even the pickiest eater in our family was sated. The courtyard was a treat and even prettier than the photos. The staff was friendly and professional. The rooms vary in size and some family members felt some rooms were too small for all the luggage they had for their upcoming cruise.
