    Friendly Host and Fab Location

    rating17 Jun 2022

Just returned from a 4 day break here. Couldn’t of asked for a better location, 2mins walk from metro station and 5 mins to the Vatican. Modern and very clean rooms and nice breakfast included. The host was very friendly and welcoming and on hand every morning for anything you need.

    Perfect location

    rating19 Aug 2019

Perfect located at 300 m from Vatican square and 100 m from Ottaviano metro station, with many restaurants, cafes & shops around. The property has all facilities and a good breakfast. A common yard with a nice garden, many trees and flowers adorn this property. So many brilliant places to visit in Rome, so much history, welcoming people, nice food – for sure we have to come back!

Thank you Reviewers for finding this little gem of a B&B.

    rating28 Jun 2018

I read up on all the reviews on this B& B and was very happy I choose this one. Behind the big wooden door (shame it has graffiti on the door) everywhere in Rome is graffiti the young people have no pride in their city. Is a cobbled pavement with a small courtyard and garden area. Once you have climbed the stairs first floor or you could use the very narrow lift you will come to the black door of Lory. Inside we were greeted by Rita a lovely lady with very good English. She showed us our bedroom which was very clean, air con, tiled bathroom and we overlooked the garden. Very comfy large bed TV, plenty of wardrobe and drawers. Breakfast continental and very good coffee of course. When my husband on day 3 of our holiday got his wallet pinched when boarding a metro train which has ruined our holiday. Rita has written our statement to the Police in Italian for us to present to them. Nothing is too much trouble for her. Also on Rita's days off we met a chap who took over the cleaning and breakfast who also very good but his English not as good as Rita's. Please everybody watch your bags and wallets on the Metro and crowds these pick pockets are very good and pinching your money. My husband didn't feel a thing, his money was in the front pocket of his shorts zipped up. June 26th for one week still here.

If you are in Rome and are wanting to save money by using public transportation stay at The Lory House. Walking distance to St. Peter's and mere steps from the subway. While the accommodations are right on a busy street once you close the large wooden door you are in a quiet ,serene courtyard . The rooms are clean and more than adequate. We especially appreciated the staff.

    Perfect for one!

    rating15 Nov 2017

While being in Rome solo was not my first choice (hubby stayed home with the boys), my pretty room in an old historic villa accessed off a main road via a giant antique wooden door leading into a private courtyard made me feel more like a resident and less like a lonely tourist. The room had a big window to let in natural light and air (important as I cannot sleep in recycled air-conditioned air), shutters to block the light at night, wooden hardwood floors, white linen and a new modern bathroom with a proper shower and plenty of hot water. There was also plenty of cupboard space for all my shopping. You can hear the Vatican bells from this guesthouse which reaffirms you are in Rome. Rita is wonderfully efficient and very helpful. She also makes an excellent cup of coffee in the morning :)
