Nice hotel, but poor quality of sleep was disappointing

    rating29 Apr 2026

First impressions were very impressive. Out of the city centre with a lovely private driveway leading up to an impressive looking building. Very well kept gardens and a lovely feel. The lady at reception was great. Very friendly, helpful and we were able to check in straight away, which was surprising as we were early. We booked an economy room as this was a ‘base’ for us for our 3 night trip. Our room was 425 on the top floor and once in the room it was clear why it was ‘budget’. We were in the roof and the room was small with just a velux window. It was clean, but the smell of sewage was very strong. The shower room was clean, but dated and could do with a bit of an update. The main concern was the bed. Each to their own on the softness of your mattress and if you like a hard mattress - this is your place. We can only describe it as like sleeping on a slab of concrete and the pillows were like bricks. We staying in the room for one night and asked for an upgrade the following morning (paid 30’euros per night for the upgrade). The upgraded room was in the second floor and more spacious with an actual window over looking the garden/carpark. However, the bed was exactly the same and the shower cubical was also the same, so the sleep was just as poor. Breakfast was good. Great selection, good quality food and a nice place to eat. All in all a nice hotel, but the sleep quality let it down badly.

    Not worth the money

    rating13 Apr 2026

At first glance the hotel looked amazing until we got to the room it was very basic, hardly any hanger or storage space for your clothes, shower didnt really have hot water and the pressure was beyond awful. The walls are paper thin, could hear talking, mobiles vibrating and even if someone was using the shower so most nights we got woken up by all the noises, lifts were very slow and super small and if you was on 4th floor u had to walk from the 3rd floor!! Alot of seating areas which was mostly empty i feel it wasted the space, like if you stayed in an evening there wernt even a pool table or stuff to do and were more outgoing through the day and like to chill in evening. We found staff rude throughout the stay it made you feel not welcome and uneasy. Not worth the

This hotel could be great, but there are lots of small issues that let it down.

The location is on the outskirts of the city centre, which we actually found ideal — it’s quiet and very close to Cornelia underground station, making it easy to get around. However, our side of the hotel faced a police college, and every morning at 7:45am cadets were marching with a brass band for about 10 minutes. It didn’t bother us too much, but if you like a lie-in, it might not be the best choice. The hotel itself looks lovely, with high ceilings and a grand feel. Unfortunately, the room didn’t live up to that impression. The shower pressure was extremely weak — it took forever just to rinse off and was a nightmare trying to wash long hair. Strangely, the sink had really good water pressure, which made it even more frustrating. The shower itself was also very small. The windows are single glazed and the walls are very thin — we could clearly hear conversations next door and even the toilet flushing. The bedding was also unusual — just a sheet, then a quilt, then another sheet on top, with no proper duvet cover. I often found my legs getting tangled between the layers, which wasn’t very comfortable.Another issue was the air conditioning. It was switched off for the cooler months, but we stayed at the end of March and had a few very warm days. Our room was on the sunny side of the hotel and became quite hot. When we asked about it, we were simply told to open a window, which wasn’t ideal.Breakfast was nice, with a good continental selection, fresh coffee, and even prosecco. However, if you’re expecting a full English breakfast, options are limited to scrambled eggs and bacon. The restaurant tries to present itself as high-end and charges premium prices, but misses the basics. My starter was taken away before I had finished because the main course was already prepared, which felt rushed and unnecessary. When we tried to raise this with the manager, communication was difficult and the issue didn’t seem to be taken seriously. The gym costs €10 per person per day. It’s small but reasonably equipped, although we found it odd that there was a sign on the treadmill limiting use to 20 minutes. At checkout, no one asked how our stay was — the focus seemed to be more on minibar charges than customer experience.Overall, we’re not particularly fussy and we had a great time in Rome, but unfortunately we wouldn’t return to this hotel or its sister properties.

    Disappointing

    rating18 Jan 2026

I booked this hotel via RCI timeshare exchange. I will stick to the facts as that's what reviews should be about not any 'interpretation of feelings'.Once we'd assessed the room and facilities I asked for 4 pillows and 2 duvets to provide us with some cushioning when sitting in our room for the evening. I was told no, I can have 2 pillows? Obviously they had a shortage of pillows in a 200 room hotel!............ The day before leaving we asked if they could book a taxi for us for 8am in the morning. (They knew there was going to be a taxi strike the next day as it was on the news) We were informed to come down to reception ten minutes before we needed to leave and they'll call one. They don't provide a shuttle service or chauffeur service? Despite airport shuttle being advertised on their website. We went to reception on our departure day and asked for a taxi, there was a vague attempt to phone someone and knowing there was a taxi strike, as the strike had been announced earlier in January and confirmed by news reports on the 12th. We were told to catch the train! We had plenty of time but dragging suitcases around a train station, up and down escalators wasn't ideal and especially for me as I have peripheral neuropathy in my feet after having had chemotherapy. I asked about private taxis which they said weren't answering the phone. We started to walk towards the metro and thought I'll call myself an uber. No problem there, was picked up by maria within 15mins and deposited to the airport no problem. The reception staff were pretty much unhelpful. At the end of the day they should be assisting their customers not supporting a strike because Uber aren't as regulated! How did that work out for you? As for refusing to provide 2 extra pillows is pretty poor!

Good hotel with bits to improve.

We had a good stay. The bar and restaurant staff are lovely. The reception staff are nice on a good day. The showers definitely needed better cleaning, it was dirty of dark scale all round the edges. The rooms are somewhat noisy, you can hear people walking and flushing the toilet around 7am.
