Nice on the outside, very bad in practice.

    rating25 May 2026

Attempts to be overly modern at its own expense. The rooms are painted grey and it feels dark and draining. The beds are hard as rocks. The pillows flat. The air-conditioning only has one setting: too cold. Its far from the roma termini when your walking with bags and on the north side so its far from attractions.

Spa injury caused by excessive technique — management response disappointing

    rating24 May 2026

I stayed at The Building Roma from 23 to 26 May 2026. The hotel location is convenient and the rooms are comfortable. However, I must report a serious incident at the Acqua Thermae di Roma spa on 24 May.During the massage I did feel that the tapotement technique was excessive. I did not stop the session because feeling strong pressure during a massage does not automatically mean it will cause injury — that is a reasonable assumption for any client. What no client should ever experience is leaving a spa with a significant haematoma on their leg, which is exactly what happened to me, fully documented in photographs. An experienced massotherapist has a professional obligation to know how much force can be applied without causing tissue damage. Adjusting technique to avoid injury is a fundamental requirement of the profession — not optional. When I reported the incident, the hotel's response was to question why I hadn't complained during the session, and to suggest that because I appeared satisfied at checkout, the injury was somehow my responsibility. A haematoma develops in the hours after a session — not during it. This is basic anatomy.I submitted two formal emails, spoke in person at reception, and sent a WhatsApp to the spa. The response I received did not include an apology, a refund, or any acknowledgement of professional responsibility. This incident fell well below those standards — and the handling of the complaint fell even further.Pedro Vasco — May 2026

    Would not go back

    rating21 May 2026

Over all the hotel was okay. There was few problems that would mean I would not go again. We arrived about 10 mins before check in and the room was not ready as we expected however the room wasn't ready till about half an hour after check in time which isn't ideal after you have been traveling all day.The bathroom had green mold in it, the shower heads where not very clean too and the hair dryer was not good either it blows very hot hair with little power. The beds are hard and the pillows are not particularly soft. There is also alot of noise from outside sirens cars ect and in the room there is a mini fridge that makes noise all day these can disturb your sleep if your sensitve to noise. The breakfast foods are okay nothing really stood out.The main reason I booked this hotel was the out door and indoor pools. The outdoor pool is ice cold so unusable for most people and the indoor pool which is part of the spa is £25pp plus you need to pay for a swim cap as the dont allow hair in the pool i felt this wasn't a very reasonable price for paying customers as the amenities do not reflect this as the pool itself looked as thought it needed cleaned as when I booked it was based of a picture of the spa I did feel it was miss leading to charge for it as it is not obviously where I booked from or on the website. The food in the restaurant was okay nothing really stood out however the tiramisu was not good you get essentially cream with cocoa powder and a small bit of chocolate cake there is no coffee flavors in it at all.Staff wise I dont have much to say as we did not really have much interaction with them other than checking in and out though those we did interact with were friendly. We did get new towels daily and out bed made. The building its self has very nice looking architecturally, there are plenty of restaurants, shops and pharmacies near by as well as the metro and train station being a short walk away. There is a piano player on each night which is a lovely addition to the hotel. I think i would recommend this for a very short trip as it seams to suit that more than anything above a week. Also it is worth noting that the tourist tax is €7.50 per night per person which you have to pay in cash idk if other hotels make you pay cash too.

Modern room in a renovated building - outdoor space was good for relaxing but needed tidying up in some areas

    rating29 Apr 2026

Modern comfortable clean room with all the facilities we needed , I requested a kettle and extra pillows before arriving and was delighted to find them already in place in the room . Stayed in a superior room with a terrace with a friend - please note the twin beds are immediately adjacent with no gap to separate so you are sleeping very close together which may be an issue for some sharers . Given a token for a welcome drink both on arrival and on the day we left to enjoy while we were having some time but the pool which was a nice touch. Terrace was lovely to sit out on in the morning and gave us more living space . The pool was not heated and chilly when you first got in but you quickly acclimatised . There are sun loungers by the pool for enjoying the sun until the afternoon when it is shaded . Breakfast was OK but the same everyday - would have been nice to have optional breakfast extras like an omelette cooked or more fresh fruit such as melon or grapefruit The hotel is situated one metro stop from the main termini for Rome city which was not an issue as we wanted somewhere with more outside space .The metro station is a 5 min walk from the hotel or you can catch a bus nearby

    Handy City Center Hotel

    rating27 Apr 2026

We stayed here in early April for four nights having found online. We were searching for a value hotel with a functional pool for the kids which is something of a rarity in Rome in April as most only open the pool from May. The group review was mixed. We found the rooms and pool area to be sufficiently sized and fitted out. Breakfast each morning in the Hotel was as you would expect. A variety of hot & cold foods with the usual fruit/juices etc. The waiting staff were incredibly helpful and exceptional with the 2 Children. The hotel itself is situated well in the city and if you are able most amenities and within a nice walking distance. We found some very good restaurants/ cafe bars within close proximity. The only real negative is The bar/lounge area. BEAUTIFUL room with a piano player each evening but very uninviting. It would not be a place you could relax after a day sightseeing. It always felt empty/cold. With a bit of imagination it could be a fantastic space within the hotel. The 2 piano players that entertained during our stay were fantastic..
