Warm and friendly stay in beautiful art nouveau hotel.

    rating23 Apr 2026

We had such a lovely time at this beautiful hotel. In response to other poor reviews I would say that although it is a while since it was decorated, everywhere still looked lovely and the whole place was pristine and clean. It felt comfortable with faded genteel feeling. The staff were extremely accommodating and hospitable, very helpful with recommendations and warm and friendly. Our room was nicely decorated and comfortable - we had no issues with it at all. The terrace is the jewel in the crown of this hotel, a beautiful little oasis with a great cocktail bar in the evening - I enjoyed an early evening aperitif and later a cocktail before I retired. There is noise from the road, but to me it is a part of the atmosphere of Rome. The hotel is really well situated for transport - the metro is just 4 minutes walk up the road, and there are bus stops right outside the hotel and also a tram line. Honestly we loved the area of San Saba - elegant and calm atmosphere full of art nouveau buildings, with a nice array of local cafes, restaurants and bars around. The hotel was everything we could have hoped for - I adored its feel of glamour and elegance without making me feel out of place or uncomfortable.

Very disappointing stay - hotel not as advertised, amenities closed, very poor condition and not worth the price

    rating13 Oct 2024

We were very excited to stay in this hotel for our anniversary & honeymoon for 4 nights in early October 2024, and unfortunately were extremely disappointed. In short, the hotel is not as advertised, the photos are outdated, and the negative reviews that talk about it being a scam are accurate. It may have been nice a few years ago but has been neglected and was nowhere near worth the price we paid for it. We specifically booked the junior/double suite with outdoor jacuzzi tub thinking it would be special for the occasion but it was closed (and seems according to other reviews to have been closed for 5+ years). I could be understanding about some of the issues and the fact it is Rome, but it was advertised as a luxury/boutique 4-star hotel and is very far from it.Here are some of the issues we experienced:- We specifically booked the junior suite with outdoor jacuzzi tub but found out on arrival that it was closed and doesn't look like it has been used in years, and were given 3 different reasons from the staff (one who said it works but is closed for the winter, another who said that it was just closed and they didn't know why, and another who said that it was broken)- They advertise and show photos of a hotel cocktail bar which was closed for our entire stay and doesn't appear to be used anymore- They advertise and show photos of an outdoor patio/bar with DJ however this was closed for our entire stay and we were told it's only used in summer months (but I wouldn't be surprised if it's just always closed)- They advertise and show photos of a restaurant however this is not part of the hotel and is not where you have breakfast; it is a Michelin-star restaurant called Marco Martini and is only open a few nights/week for dinner- Amenities and photos mention free breakfast however this is actually down the street at a cafe (Casa Manfredi), where they will walk you and tell you to pick out items- They also advertise another restaurant Mantis on-site however this was closed for 3/4 of the nights we stayed- Air conditioning was controlled by the front desk and only worked starting the 2nd night after we complained- On the bed there was only 1 flat sheet, no duvet or comforter; when we asked for an extra blanket they gave us 2 Ikea warming duvets with no hygienic cover and they were quite old/dirty- Generally poor condition (in our room alone there was a broken door handle to the balcony, broken toilet flush button, shower leaks a lot onto the floor, electrical switch hanging out of the wall, hardwood floor puckering from water damage, several stains on the lounge chair, water stains along the ceiling with active mold growth, rotten baseboards with mold, and was generally dirty)Here is a recap of our interactions with the staff:We first raised our concerns at check-in and were told we needed to speak with the manager the next day. We spoke to the manager who tried to explain that it is just the character of Rome, that they are unable to do repairs and that we should give it a chance. They explained that the jacuzzi tub was closed for the winter (it was 20-25 degrees C outside the 4 days we were there), that the restaurant is actually separate from the hotel, that the 'hotel bar' is closed, and that the outdoor patio bar is only open in peak summer months. They tried to offer a bottle of wine to make up for it but nothing further. That evening we complained to Expedia who called the front desk and had the evening staff come up to our room; she acknowledged the poor condition of the room but explained there was nothing she could do and that we needed to speak to the manager again the next day. We would have tried to stay elsewhere however everything was booked by that time. Finally after the fourth day they agreed to give us a 1-night refund, but even while checking out they were still trying to say that they "can't make everyone happy". The staff come across nice but this is mostly smoke in mirrors to hope that you don't complain. We should also note that we only saw 1 other couple staying there during the 4 nights. The only reason I would still give it 2/5 or 4/10 is because the bed was fairly comfortable and the room was spacious, for Rome standards, but would not stay again and definitely not a 4-star hotel and not worth the $600 CAD/night we paid.

Disappointed (Easily fixable but management seems out of touch)

    rating12 Aug 2024

Full review below. The would have received 3 stars but with the deceitful hotel description available on their website and others a star was removed. This is not a staff issue, this is a management issue. While I don’t often write reviews of hotels, I felt compelled to review my most recent stay at TheCorner Townhouse in Rome. My partner and I stayed here for six nights in early August. Overall, itwas a mixed experience that I hope will help others when considering this hotel.Pros: The hotel is in a great location. You are near a metro stop and other forms of public transitincluding busses and the tram. You are also within walking distance (10-15 minutes) of quite a fewhistoric sites including the Roman Baths and the Colosseum. The hotel is also located on a streetwith quite a few small cafés and restaurants, which is helpful when you are wanting to get somethingto eat but not wanting to go far. The hotel was also very quiet. While it is close to tourist spaces, thestreet right outside is a fairly quiet one. The other pro was the overall look of the hotel and rooms. Ienjoy historic spaces and older buildings. This hotel has a fun feel to it and the pop elements theyhave brought through color and art make the rooms unique. They are a little beaten up in places, butthat happens pretty easily in hotels, so I don’t hold that against them.Cons: The main issue with this hotel is they are misrepresenting themselves on their website. Manystatements on their site are completely false. This is not a 4 star hotel as they say. It is a 3 star at bestand maybe a 2. For example, we didn’t even have a proper room number outside our door. Therewas just a panel with wires sticking out where the number plate should be. They also claim on thewebsite they have “dedicated 24-hour concierge.” This is not true. Most of the time there was onlyone person working at the hotel at all and often you went by the front desk and no one was eventhere. When we had some questions our first night there, the man at the front desk said he was “justsecurity” and couldn’t help us too much. The website also boasts “our soft bathrobes will pamperyou during your stay in the hotel or after relaxing in our Wellness room.” There were no bathrobesin our room and we never saw or were told about any “Wellness room.” The website also says“breakfast is specially designed for our guests” and that it is “served in our indoor and/or outdoorspaces.” We paid for breakfast with our room. On the first morning, we came down for breakfastand were escorted by the one of the staff members out of the hotel, down the stairs, onto thesidewalk, and down about a block and a half to a café where we were told we could order two drinksand two food items per person each day and we just had to give them our room number. I’ve stayedin a lot of hotels with breakfast and have never seen such a situation. The café was a good, buthaving to leave your hotel for the breakfast you paid for is an odd choice and not at all clear on thewebsite. As you can see there is a lot of misinformation presented. The last con was the biggest forus. This hotel has the worst sheets and pillows I’ve ever experienced in a hotel. The sheets were likesandpaper. Our bed only had a sheet on it. No blanket. We asked for a blanket and got thin, stained, and uncovered comforters from Ikea (two weren’t even the right size for the bed). We complainedand the staff did find us slightly better sheets and did wrap the comforter in some sheets as well.Overall, this hotel wasn’t a terrible experience, but they should be honest on their website, so youknow what to expect. They make it out like they are a very fancy hotel. They are not. This is a basichotel. With very basic amenities. The staff was friendly but could only do so much with what they’vebeen given. We got a good deal on this hotel, so I wasn’t too mad about it. But I know on thewebsite and from other reviews people are often paying over 300 euro a night and that is way toomuch for this hotel. Don’t pay that much. If you find a good deal, go for it (but maybe bring yourown sheets).

    Amazing staff and hotel!

    rating21 Jun 2024

We had an amazing stay at The Corner Roma. Mauro and the entire staff could not have gone out of their way more to make our stay wonderful! They advised us on our travel plans. They gave us detailed directions on how to get to Pompeii so we could navigate the train system. We had them set up a private car to/from the airport which was so worth the extra money. The room had everything we needed and was very comfortable. There is also a restaurant just a block away where we ate three different times because it was so good and affordable. We really could not have asked for more for our stay in Rome! We highly recommend The Corner Roma!

    Spectacular Front Desk Service

    rating09 Oct 2023

The number one reason to stay at this hotel is Mauro, the day manager who makes everyone who enters the hotel feel that he is happy to see and to serve them. In fact, all the staff were great. The second reason is the location. This is a real Roman neighborhood. Third, the hotel cat who patrols the garden/terrace. However, the actual accommodation was problematic for us. The very small bathroom had a sink with no place for a dobb kit--the bidet had to serve this function. Outside the bathroom is a large room with a free standing tub--just not a good use of space. Our closet was in this room and it was not functional-- no light to see into the closet, small cubbies and nowhere to hang anything longer than a shirt. And the color of the room--dark charcoal...it was perpetually night. I felt as if the color palette was very trendy when the hotel was first renovated, but now the hotel needs to be re-thought and refreshed. I am wondering if the first three reasons to stay at this hotel are enough to bring us back.
