This small, charming 19 th century hotel is located in the centre of Rome directly next to the Basilica Santa Maria Maggiore. It is just a short walk to various celebrated tourist sites such as the Roman Colosseum. Public transport connections are within easy reach.

Facility

The hotel has 31 non-smoking rooms, which are located on 5 storeys and are reachable by a lift. English-speaking staff at the reception desk in the lobby are ready to assist you with check-in and check-out. A baggage storage service, a safe, a TV room, medical assistance, 24-hour room service, a laundry service and 35 conference rooms are available. Wireless internet access in public areas allows guests to stay connected. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. The hotel has a range of facilities for guests with disabilities.     Lovely boutique hotel in a great location. Within easy walk of most of the main tourist attractions and the station. Rooftop bar had great views but was very expensive. Staff were all lovely. Breakfast was decent. Large bedroom with separate dressing area, huge and comfortable bed. Room was quiet, even though the hotel is in a busy area and we were right below the bar.Definitely recommend and would return without hesitation.

    Terrible Sewer Smell and Non cooperating management

    I stayed at Hotel Major for three nights, and from the first night, there was a terrible sewer smell on the entire second floor especially in one of our rooms. I asked the staff for a room change or a fix, but they didn’t even acknowledge the problem. I went online and checked there are several reviews about this smell issue. If you don’t believe it just try searching this on Trip Advisor or Expedia yourself and you will see others who have reported the same. Eventually, they offered a room change, but only before 1 p.m. Since we had excursions at 9 a.m., I asked if we could do it in the evening, and they refused. Worse, housekeeping threw away our laundry detergent and toothbrushes and their covers. What did they think, we wouldn’t need to brush our teeth or wash basic clothes for our stay? The front desk had no authority, and every time I asked for a manager, ‘Luigi’ was unavailable yet somehow talking behind the scenes without ever contacting me directly. Overall, our long-awaited vacation started off terribly. I hope they improve, but I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone.

    The room itself was clean and pleasant, tidied up and refreshed every day. Location is great, walkable distance to most major attractions. But the highlight of out stay was the reception staff, everyone was very friendly and helpful. Special thanks to Lou who gave us plenty of recommendations on the first day.

    Disgusting smell

    The room I had was spacious and beautifully decorated. There was even a nice card left on the bed upon arrival. Service at the front desk was great. I was even okay with the elevator not working. It was only mildly inconvenient. It was the smell that I could not get past. I even asked to have the room sprayed before I went to dinner. The request was granted, but it did not do much. I had a horrible time trying to get to sleep. Ended up leaving the hotel at 3am because of the terrible smell. The whole second floor had a very strong sewage scent.

    Great value for the quality of rooms and service. Friendly staff who go the distance with local recommendations and area knowledge. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Modern and well equipped. Great location, away from the noise buy a short walk to the historic sites and attractions. If we are returning to Rome we will not hesitate to book again.
