displayed photos are not quite real

    rating23 May 2023

It was bad experience, the photos at the booking.com are not real. And the manager is not respect their guests at all. There is no warm water. The room is too dark at night. No smart key. The Lift is always out of service.

    6 nights in Rome

    rating27 Mar 2023

First of all, very important for Rome - this is perfect location. If you wanna walk - all important to see in Rome is 5-25min walking (Piazza Popoli 5min, Fontana di Trevi and Spanish steps 15min, Colloseum and Forum 25min...).Also, metro station Flaminia (orange line) is just around the corner. With this line you can go to Vatican for 3 stops, 10min. Also it's 3 stops in another direction to Termini station, from where you can catch train to airport, or basicly any bus to anywhere in Rome. Taxi it's also good and work fine with Freenow app.We had great time staying in Vico. Room is very big, bathroom also. Breakfast is maybe not so rich, but quit enough to start a day. You can ask on english CJ, who works on weekend, or Gabriella on italian who works during work days.Just keep in mind to close elevator door, since we heard few times arguments about that (close both wooden and iron doors)

    Terrible Experience

    rating03 Nov 2022

So my wife and I went to Vico rooms and Terrace as our travel agent recommended it. The pictures on their site are a bit out of date, as at least the terrace is a lot more worn down than the pics illustrate. The neighbourhood is a bit grubby, seems to possibly be a student area, with a lot of garbage bins and dirty side streets. (Moreso than the other part of Rome we moved too). The room was nice enough, renovated…. Although the bathroom shower had a 2” hole in the too corner….First night I woke up in the middle of the night to a mild smell of trash in our room. I got up to look around and nothing in our suite to smell, so it must have been coming thru AC from the 6 large bins on the street corner below us. The next morning my wife goes to use the washroom and gags calling me. The washroom stunk terribly of sewage. I thought maybe a plumbing trap was dry so I made sure all the drains had water down them and that did not help. We went for breaky on the terrace….. not fantastic although the lady there did a decent job. This is when we tried to get ahold of the management which first off if you dont have a Sim card you cannot get ahold of them. It says on the sites easy to get ahold of them but it was not. To get in another guest laughed when he saw us and asked ‘Vico Rooms?’ He let us in. When I called about the stench in our room, the message was vico rooms was closed and unavailable. I had to actually call a sister B and B to get ahold of someone. Took about 30 minutes for this. They informed me they would let the manager know. We received an email before this from Lavinia saying she called us on whatsapp, we had Italian sim cards and had no idea how to change the numbers on the app. We told her this and gave her our new numbers. No response. No response to our complaints so we went and found a new place to stay, way better cleaner and a hotel with staff to talk to. Closer to colosseum and everything else you want to see. We sent an email, and I asked the guy who watches the terrace if he wanted to come upstairs and smell the terrible smell that went right thru our masks and he said he doesnt deal with that. Our travel agent just informed us that with Expedias help they tried to get a refund for the unused days at Vico because of smelling like a sewer and they refused to refund us. Would never recommend this place to anyone. If something goes wrong you get nothing back and no service.

Denied late night check-in on prepaid and confirmed Booking.com reservation

    rating11 Oct 2022

They denied us access to our room when we arrived at around noon, although we had requested a late check-in from 11pm to noon and had our 4-day reservation fully paid and confirmed. They said over the phone that the reception was closed at 8pm and that we should come the next day. We had to look for another hotel at 1am and there were no available places nearby. No less disappointing was that the Vico manager whom we spoke on the next day was really rude and shouted at us in front of other guests. She said that she had called us before our arrival to say that they had special conditions for late check-ins, but it was not true, we didn’t have any unanswered calls from them. As we understood from the conversation, the reason for their denial to let us in was that we have not filled a form that they had sent us by email. They did send us a few automatic emails with the conformation of our registration and a form to fill in. However, the emails said nothing about that filling the form was mandatory to get our room and we thought that we could do it on our arrival. There were also no special conditions for late check-in mentioned on their Booking.com page. It was a terrible experience that ruined a good chunk of our short and long awaited for visit to Rome.
