Beautiful property. Spendy! Good service but for a few lazy reception workers. Not as close to main attractions as other reviews may lead you to believe, and few cabs. Even fewer Ubers. Clean, by Italy standards. Excellent breakfast buffet! One of the best I’ve experienced. Restaurant staff in Gala for dinner was lazy, too, except for Juan. Juan seemed, at times, to be one of few working. Friendly. The person who gave the tip about walking through the car park is a genius! Monica Zarrelli, Servizi per gli ospiti/front office at Villa Agrippina Gran Melia, responded to this review Dear Guest,Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback following your stay at Villa Agrippina Gran Meliá.We are very pleased to know that you appreciated the beauty of our property, the cleanliness standards, and especially our breakfast buffet, which we are proud to see ranked among the best you have experienced. Your kind mention of Juan is also truly appreciated — we will be delighted to share your recognition with him personally. At the same time, we sincerely regret that some aspects of the service did not fully meet your expectations. Please accept our apologies for the impression you received at Reception and during your dinner experience at Gala. Your comments are extremely valuable and will certainly be shared with the relevant teams, as we continuously strive to deliver the attentive and seamless service our guests deserve.Regarding transportation and distances, while many of Rome’s major attractions are within walking distance, we understand that moving around the city may occasionally present challenges, particularly during peak times. We are nevertheless happy that you found the walking shortcut through the car park helpful — we agree, it is a great tip.We truly appreciate your balanced and honest review and hope to have the opportunity to welcome you again in the future for an even more enjoyable experience.Warm regards,Villa Agrippina Gran Meliá Team

A True Luxury Resort Experience in the Heart of Rome

    rating22 May 2026

Our stay at Villa Agrippina Gran Meliá was absolutely exceptional. This is without question one of the best hotels in Rome if you want to combine luxury sightseeing with a real vacation atmosphere. The service was outstanding from start to finish — professional, attentive, and genuinely high-end. The location is perfect: walking distance to the Vatican and Rome’s historic center, yet the hotel feels peaceful and private. Before booking, I seriously considered other top luxury hotels in Rome, including Bvlgari Hotel Roma and several other famous five-star properties. However, what ultimately made Villa Agrippina stand out was something the others simply could not offer: incredible suites with truly spectacular terraces and views. What makes this hotel truly unique is the atmosphere. You can spend the day exploring Rome and then come back to relax by the amazing outdoor pool, almost like being at a luxury summer resort. Very few hotels in central Rome can offer this combination. In my opinion, it makes little sense to book other luxury hotels in Rome — even more expensive ones — if they don’t offer outdoor space or balconies. Here you can stay in spectacular suites with enormous 120m² terraces, large private jacuzzis, and breathtaking views over the Vatican, the old city, and the Tiber River. The terrace experience alone makes this hotel special and very difficult to match anywhere else in Rome.Another huge advantage: the jacuzzi water is very warm, so it’s perfectly usable even during colder months. After getting out, the terrace area still feels comfortable and cozy, which creates an amazing experience in the evening. One useful tip: it is worth calling the central reservation office of Meliá Hotels International directly before booking. In many cases you can negotiate a noticeably better rate than on Booking.com or other hotel platforms. This hotel offers something extremely rare in Rome: a true luxury resort feeling right in the middle of the city. Highly recommended. Monica Zarrelli, Servizi per gli ospiti/front office at Villa Agrippina Gran Melia, responded to this review Dear Guest,Thank you sincerely for this extraordinary and detailed review. We are truly delighted to know that your stay at Villa Agrippina Gran Meliá was such a memorable experience.Your words perfectly capture what we strive to offer every guest: a unique combination of luxury hospitality, exclusive comfort, and the rare feeling of a peaceful resort in the heart of Rome. It is especially rewarding to read how much you appreciated our suites and terraces, the breathtaking views over the Vatican and the Eternal City, as well as the relaxing atmosphere around our outdoor pool.We are also very grateful for your recognition of our team’s service. Providing attentive, genuine, and personalized hospitality is at the core of everything we do, and your appreciation means a great deal to all of us.Thank you as well for highlighting one of the hotel’s most distinctive features: the possibility to enjoy spacious outdoor living areas and warm private jacuzzis throughout the year — an experience that truly makes Villa Agrippina unique in Rome.It was a pleasure to welcome you, and we sincerely hope to have the opportunity to host you again very soon for another exceptional Roman escape.Warm regards,Villa Agrippina Gran Meliá Team

    Everything we wanted and more

A beautiful junior suite had all the amenities we wanted and all the space we needed for luggage from several weeks of touring and shopping. Staff were as accommodating as could be. The spa staff were both warm and very professional; appertivo at sunset by the pool was perfect. We could walk almost anywhere we wanted to go in Rome. It's really a bit of an oasis! Good experience but lacking the "x factor" to be great

    rating13 Apr 2026

At this level, I do not expect to be commenting on the basics. At this level, a good hotel is one that makes me feel like a welcome guest and a friend. I didn't find it here. Instead, I found staff who were stiff, operating according to some head office manual, not allowed to express their own skills and regimented into a corporate culture that made me, as a guest, feel like a unit of revenue. I have found this before at Meliá. It's a great pity. They have here a beautiful building in a good location. The staff are obviously a credit to the brand. So please, trust them and stop regimenting them. And definitely stop doing this hand on chest gesture. It looks very silly! Finally, the prices of drinks are ridiculous. Monica Zarrelli, Servizi per gli ospiti/front office at Villa Agrippina Gran Melia, responded to this review Dear Guest,Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback following your stay at Villa Agrippina Gran Meliá.We truly value all comments as an opportunity for constructive improvement.
