    Good location apartment

    rating23 Sept 2024

Very clean and nice hotel and good host. They did serve breakfast (8-10). Good location to walk around like 10 min walk to Tevi Fountain. Less than half hour from Colosseum, 5 mins from the metro station and 23 mins walk from terminal if you want to skip the metro.

Really nice hotel run by lovely people. Great central location

We stayed here for a short break that was a gift from our children. One of my sons had been there before and was really impressed with it. I can honestly say that this is one of the best places I’ve stayed in while visiting Rome. Simone and Barbera, the owners, are really lovely people and nothing is too much for them. They speak good English and have a great local knowledge. We arrived in Rome Termini railway station and it cost €12 for a taxi to the hotel. We took a day trip from Rome Termini and were quoted €60 for the same taxi ride at night. Always ask how much it will cost. We ended up getting a bus to Piazza Berberini and it cost us €3 in total. If you’ve been to Rome before and seen a lot of the sights, the fast train to Naples only takes 1.5 hours and is really affordable. The hotel is located in via Rasella and entry to the building is made via a solid wooden door, typical of those found in central Rome. You climb a flight of stairs to the first floor or take the lift and you are given a code to gain entry to the hallway and reception/ kitchen area. There are 2 separate rooms on this level. The photos on the website are true to life and the room we stayed in was excellent. The bathroom has a sauna facility if you fancy that. WiFi in the room was excellent and there is a USB hub if you have several devices you want to connect. Breakfast is freshly cooked and you can have eggs, cold meat, cereal, toast and jam, pastries etc with plenty of tea and coffee. The hotel provides a good place for sightseeing etc and nearby Piazza Berberini has a Metro station and stops for all the tour buses. We used the “I Love Rome Bus” and there are plenty of ticket sellers, all trying to get your business. We managed to get 2 days for the price of 1 after some negotiating. Downhill from the hotel is a small supermarket were you can stock up on essentials and the Pantheon and Trevi Fountian are only a short walk away. The Spanish Steps are a short walk from Piazza Berberini. There are loads of restaurants and souvenir shops nearby as well as a selection of more expensive designer shops. In summary, the Wellness Hotel is really nice and run by lovely people. It is centrally located with good transport links and I hope to return one day.

    A Gem

    rating25 Oct 2023

This small guesthouse is a true find. We could not have asked for a better location in central Rome at a cost that is far less than most accommodations in the area. Our room was just as pictured, and was impeccably clean with a great bed. The included breakfast was an added bonus. Our room also had a charming view over Palazzo Barbarini which I would highly recommend you visit if you like Caravaggio paintings. Wellness Home Rome is a few minutes walk from Trevi Fountain but thankfully far enough away to escape the tourist crowds.

    Do not stay here

Long post ahead. Read on for a genuine review. I’m from Singapore and I booked Wellness Home Rome via Booking.com. PS I do not give review often and this is my first giving such a bad review. It was our Day 15 for our Europe honeymoon and we arrived Rome on a super rainy day. Managed to locate the apartment by the small signage beside the main door. Upon receiving us, Simone told us that we should have gone up to Level 1 instead. We totally forgotten that Level 1 is Level 2 in Europe. He then carried one of our baggage up and wiped off the water on our baggages so we do not stain the floor. During checkin, Simone told us that the wifi is down due to raining day and the POS machine is not working because there is no internet connection. If the wifi is still down on the next day, then we will have to pay for our room using cash. PS I do not know why he did not enable payment via Booking.com and only choose to receive payment during checkin maybe to avoid paying platform fee etc. After checkin, he did a quick room tour and also gave us a bottle of wine as a nice gesture. On the next day during breakfast, we asked if the wifi has resumed and Simone simply point us to the router and informed that it was still down. We then asked if we can make the payment via PayPal to him and he replied fiercely and told us we have to pay in cash. He also said it was our fault for not having enough cash on us. It was our Day 15 and it should be reasonable that we do not hold much cash on us especially so in Europe where almost everywhere can be paid by card? The aunt also told us that we could have withdraw the cash out from the ATM but we do not want to withdraw any cash out due to the absurd bank charges. The aunt informed that the wifi for the entire area is down but it wasn’t true because we went down the restaurant down the road and it was slow but working. Simone also did not inform prior that their wifi is down and I’m required to pay in cash before my arrival. Simone then threatened us and said that we CANNOT leave the dining hall without paying for our room. My hubby suggested that he connect the POS machine using my hotspot instead and everything works after. First of all, the wifi is down for an extended period for 3 days of our stay and it was only raining on the first day. The “smart” tv is also not working. He could have contacted the service provider and probably get the wifi fixed by the 2nd if not the 3rd day? But the wifi wasn’t fixed by our checkout day. It should be his responsibility and service to ensure that the guests are provided with wifi as described in his booking listing. Second, the threatening was alarming and intimating. We do not meant to avoid paying but it was just unfortunate that the WIFI is down. The remarks from him is totally unnecessary. Moreover, he is not tech savvy at all and did not think of connecting the POS to his mobile data? Thirdly, there is no heater, installed AC but cannot use and the lift is also not working. We booked this apartment based on the 9/9 rating. Thirdly, the room is NOT soundproof as listed in his booking. You can hear people slamming door and people/cars outside because the apartment is only on Level 1. Honestly after the stay, we were incredibly disappointed by the service and attitude from Simone and we felt cheated by the high rating. Apart from the service and threatening, the room is clean and location is also very convenient. Book at your own risk as he might treat each guests differently and discriminate Chinese/Yellow-skinned folks.
