Beautiful tenement house, clean, discreet owners, peace, sea view

    rating13 May 2024

Our B&B was located on the 5th floor of a beautiful historic tenement house, with a wonderful ancient elevator. Clean rooms, very nice towels, discreet service, very helpful owners, I could always ask about anything. From the window of my room I had a view of the marina and the sea. it's about a 30-minute walk to the port and a 15-minute walk to the city center. Unfortunately, the only shop nearby was closed, to buy coffee you have to walk about 7-10 minutes. There was no bathroom in my room and that was it. the only inconvenience was that I had to go out into the corridor. I recommend it wholeheartedly.

    Sad to say

    rating15 Oct 2022

We were not going to write a review. We were just going to count it as “it is what it is” situation but after the morning of our departure we decided if a previous guest had the experience we did we would want to know that information and make an informed decision based on that shared situation. The day before we were to arrive we received a message asking what time we would arrive. We let him know our plane was to land at 7pm and we would be there around 8pm. As we were getting ready to board our plane an announcement was made that the flight would leave an hour late. I immediately sent him a message with that information, no response. An hour later another announcement was made stating it would be delayed an additional 1 and 1/2 hours. I again sent a message, no response. Once we finally landed I received a message stating “check in ends at 9” I wrote back apologizing for the flights delays (although not our fault) and saying we would get there as soon as we possibly could, no response. Unsure of what to do my husband called him, apologizing again and saying we were doing everything we could to get there. He said “if you were staying less days I would cancel your reservation, make you fight it with Expedia and you would have to figure out somewhere else to stay” Wow. We were quite shocked as the delays were beyond our control and we notified him as soon as we found out there would be a delay. He said he would wait “because it was worth it to him as we had 4 days booked” he also told us to get a taxi from the central station and not to walk as he “did not want to wait for us”. We walked outside and it was a ghost town. We tried to order a taxi on ItTaxi and call a company, both said the car would be over an hour. We called him again to update him and he said there should be taxis there, but there weren’t. We were finally able to get one who was dropping someone else off. We arrived, again apologizing and he let us in. Everything seemed ok… The day before we were to leave he told us there was a city tax of 12 “dollars” and card was also “accepted” but “cash was preferred” we thought no problem we have both. The morning of we had to leave by 8am to catch our train. We walked out to thank his sister (she makes the “breakfast”) and handed her the 12 dollars (American money) she started yelling and said it had to be in Euros, we said we didn’t have any Euros so we will use card because he said that was also acceptable. She yelled at us and said no only cash Euros and we had to go find a bank. For the next hour we ran around trying to find a bank or atm but nothing was open. We asked locals who had their shops open and they all told us nothing opened until 830 or 9. We went back and relayed our findings and asked to pay via card as he said that was also an acceptable payment. She started yelling at us again and said she would call her brother. He answered and said paying by card was fine. My husband paid and she literally tried to push him out to the door. We left baffled by the unnecessary rudeness. We have stayed in countless hotels, airbbs and bed and breakfasts. We have never had a experience like this. To address the bed complaints and food complaints by previous reviews- unfortunately they are true. The bed was not comfortable. Firm would be a polite way of describing it. If we hadn’t paid for our stay up front we would have moved somewhere else. The “breakfast” is a croissant, it’s not bad but it’s nothing to brag about. Everyone has a different experience, this was ours. *Hospitality comparison* Our next stay was in Croatia. Our flight was delayed, again and we let those hosts know immediately as well. They responded saying “no problem and travel safe” when we arrived to the area they met us down the street to make sure we could find the place ok. They walked us back and greeted us with complimentary wine and charcuterie. Talk about a world of difference. Truthfully, Dr. & Dr. Ramirez

    Fabulous host

    rating21 Jul 2019

Brilliant, clean room, beautiful view, stunning building with an old fashioned lift. Vincenzo, was an excellent host, providing nice coffee and italian pastries in the morning. He had sufficient english and was incredibly helpful with maps of Salerno and ferry times. He went above and beyond for me as a host, when i realised as i got to the airport that i had lost my money, he searched the room found it and transfered me the cash. He was kind, happy and courteous. Our stay was made easier and safer. I would recommend to couples or families, or 2 exploring girls like myself and my best friend who stayed ! Wonderful 5 stars for the host. Comfortable room.

Had such an amazing stay with these wonderful hosts. Vincenzo and his wife treat you like family, with a warm welcome and a map of the city and beautiful attractions, these guys go above and beyond for their guests. Nice clean tidy room with room cleaning and a perfect coffee and crossiant in the morning. The building you stay in is fantastic with a Budapest hotel feeling you really feel apart of another world. value for money is great. The BnB sits a 5 minute walk to the port where you can go on a direct ferry line to Capri, stopping at the Amalfi coast and Positano Will be coming back with my boyfriend soon. Thankyou Vincenzo :) you made us feel safe as two young travelling girls.
