Location

This hotel is located centrally in the town: 200 m from the small ferry port (connections to the charming Amalfi and Cilento coasts and to the Capri and Ischia islands), 400 m from Salerno train station and the green promenade that leads to the fascinating old town centre with its sights, art, theatres and the ever-animated market traders. It is a short 10-minute walk to the bus terminal for routes to all major tourist sites as well as shops, bars and restaurants.

Facility

320 non-smoking rooms, including 63 junior suites, 207 single rooms and 31 double rooms, are available to guests. The reception desk is open round the clock. Amenities include a baggage storage service, safe, cash machine and drinks machine. Wireless internet access is provided in public areas. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions.     The worst hotel I stayed for a long time. I don't know in which century they were rated 4 star. It is not even a good youth hostel standard.

    We came as a tour group who were diverted here as a result of very late maintenance issues with the hotel in Manori where we were booked to stay. I wouldn’t stay here ever again even if it was fee. The wait staff are rude, no hot breakfast and the rooms badly in need of an upgrade. The beds are like granite slabs and air conditioning doesn’t work.Do yourself a favour look else where.

    Salerno is a beautiful town but for the Grand hotel to be the best hotel in Salerno is a massive problem. The only hot food at breakfast is tea and coffee and boiled eggs. The rest of the food at breakfast is fruit at the back, cakes, yogurt, slice bread for toast, biscuits, doughnuts and juices. What kind of breakfast is that for the price we paid for 5 nights was close to 1k Euros in August. I even had to pay 5 Euros a day to use the gym, and yes you have to pay before they turn the lights on in there, the pool is closed too. The room is run down infact the whole hotel is run down and needs to be refurbished asap. I stopped going to breakfast after the first day because it was that bad. I won’t be coming back to Italy for a long time because this was my first experience.

    They advertise Wi-Fi in all rooms, but it is only available in the reception area. Definitely not worthy of a 4-star rating.
