Stunning location, but whole experience could be so much better.

    rating07 Apr 2026

Aged in our 40s, we brought the average age of hotel guest down considerably! The setting of the hotel is beautiful and the climb up the steps to the viewpoint is stunning. It would be lovely if there was a bench to sit and enjoy it, the steps had been weeded and a proper path cut. Breakfast was good, despite the chairs being covered in crumbs from previous guests. However, there are a lot of improvements that could be made to the hotel, which has the potential to be stunning, but isn’t. The room is basic. No soundproofing so you can hear everything from the rooms next door eg guests in the bathroom, coughing, blowing noses, talking etc. There are no tea/coffee facilities in any room. You can order a hot drink on room service for €2-3 with a €5 delivery charge. I would expect coffee/tea facilities in a room of a hotel like this. There was a full mini bar price list, but only water stocked in the mini bar. Only 500ml water bottle was provided between two guests for our stay. Despite the gorgeous weather, the pool does not open until May. It would have been nice to sit around it and enjoy the view.We tried to get a drink to have in the sun, but despite the bar apparently being open we couldn’t find any staff anywhere, eventually having to ask at reception. Two other couples also struggled to be served a drink. In the evening, we had the 4 course tasting menu with wines at €70 pp. We were told at the start of the meal all 4 wines were from the vineyard. In fact it was only 3 of 4. The appetiser was superb, the primo course very good, but the secondi (lamb) was disappointing and very tough. The dessert was two scoops of sorbet. Overall the experience was, for the cost, disappointing. The waiter told us about each wine, but on one occasion brought the same wine over twice in a row and often dripped the wine when pouring. An overall disappointing experience which we won’t be recommending to friends.

    Mediocre stay for high price

    rating15 Oct 2025

Lovely and impressive setting. Room ( suite) very large and comfortable although a musty odor was offset by the use of overpowering plug in room scent. Breakfast was plentiful and good although the service was only fair. Dinner in the restaurant was poor with both the service and food a problem. Loud late night noise from the kitchen made sleeping difficult. Staff at front desk brisk but competent. Staff otherwise sometimes bordered on rude.

Beautiful converted monastery into a hotel in the hillsides with wonderful views. The facilities were wonderful with everything that you could hope for, staff at reception always very helpful and our room was lovely and spacious. Can definitely recommend a stay at this fabulous place.

    Relaxing oasis amongst vineyards

    rating26 Aug 2025

The hotel is located in a very quiet area hidden in the hills between Cefalu and Castelbourno. Hiring a car is a must. The rooms are quintessentially Italian, the storage in our room was limited, with just one wardrobe between 2 adults staying for 10 nights was quite tricky but we managed, otherwise the rooms were clean and comfortable. The hotel grounds were beautiful we enjoyed our runs in the morning around the vineyards. The pool was always quiet plenty of room to catch some rays after a day exploring the area. We were lucky enough to have the opportunity to join a gala dinner when we arrived which included a tour of the winery which was fab. We were also warned before arrival that a wedding was happening during our stay but the hotel staff still accommodated us in the restaurant that evening. The staff at the hotel absolutely made our stay, each one was welcoming helpful and made us feel very special. We ate in the restaurant a few nights and the food and wine were excellent. If you are searching for a quiet relaxing stay away from crowds this is the place for you.

    Stunning Hotel

    rating20 Jun 2025

Absolutely loved this hotel. A very winding pot holed lane to get to the property but definitely worth it. So quiet and secluded. Pool area offered stunning views. Dinning in the courtyard at night was magical. Staff were attentive without being over the top. The 5 course menu with wine offered brilliant choices of Sicilian dishes. We loved ever minute. Breakfast buffet on the terrace again was a lovely experience. Wishes we could have stayed longer. Will return.
