Basic - stay for price and location, not for style or value

    rating17 May 2026

Google has just informed me that this hotel was built in 2013, which I just can't believe. It is a living museum of late 1990s decor. In fairness, the rooms were absolutely huge, and clean, though a little worn. It is basic and won't win any style awards, so if you had booked it for your entire stay in Sicily you might be quite disappointed (especially as as the pool area was also tired and untidy). However, for a night's sleep after a late or early morning flight, it was fine. And when we woke up the next day, we realised we had a fantastic view of Mount Etna from our window, which was a nice surprise. The main issue we had was that previous reviews as well as information on the hotel website suggested that it would be an easy walk from the airport. Unfortunately Google Maps directed us down two busy dual carriageways with no pavements, which was tricky to navigate with large suitcases. I believe the hotel can offer an airport shuttle bus though as well, which I would recommend opting for.

    One Night in Noise City

    rating01 May 2026

Chose this due to the vicinity to the airport and since we had an early flight. Some young teenage girls kept on screaming at 1am and their dog kept on barking. Rather than asking them to be quiet and to respect the other guests’ need to sleep when I asked the receptionist to do something, he asked us if we wanted to change our room. Didn’t really understand the logic here. I told him that we wouldn’t move, because they were disturbing us, and that this would need to be resolved through other means (I.e. telling them off). Parking was also very limited, unless you paid EUR10 for overnight underground parking. Would not recommend. Stay in the city centre, it’s not that far from the airport, and not worth the hassle of dealing with people who don’t really care about the people they’re hosting.

Very nice hotel minutes from the airport

The exterior matches the industrial area the hotel is located in, but the rooms are large and look recently renovated. Food was good and the staff very helpful.

Broken air conditioner, hotel no good. Do not recommend.

    rating13 Oct 2025

The air conditioning doesn’t work in the room. It’s currently 30 C inside my room. The thermostat is locked from going below 23 C but it doesn’t work anyways because it keeps throwing an error code and shutting the whole system off. Now we are covered in bug bites because we had to leave the windows and doors open all night to cool off. The sliding shower doors have to be wrestled shut because they’re so rusted. Beds are very hard. Close location to the airport but not good for sleeping.

    Excellent hotel and room

    rating10 Oct 2025

I cannot speak highly enough of my stay at Catania Airport Hotel. I give reasons:1) It is only a 15 minute walk to/from the airport. Buses run if you do not choose to walk, but I found the walk fine/easy and less hassle.2) Buses run approximately every 40 minutes to Catania center from opposite the hotel. I found it easier however to just walk to Catania Fontanarossa station (15 minute walk from hotel), and catch the train (2 euros) to Catania Centrale station. From there it is a 10 minute walk to Catania center. The whole process was easy.3) The swimming pool was open first week in October which was a huge bonus.4) Although this may have been because I was staying for 5 nights total (most likely more than most people who stay only for business travel or airport convenience), and maybe as it was not peak season, but I was given a fantastic room overlooking Mount Etna. It was one of the best rooms I have stayed in on any travel.5) Very competitive room rates.6) Breakfast included plenty of cold meats, scrambled eggs, sausages, bacon, pastries, yoghurts, coffee etc. It was good quality and plenty to go around.7) Staff service was excellent, and they were so helpful at any time.Any negatives? The only thing I would say, and this was no issue for me, is if you prefer to be central based, you might find it a hassle to commute in and back. The beach is a good 35 minute walk. I'm not sure which bus ran there. Again, I only went once and walked there, because the pool was open.Probably the biggest drawback is the lack of eating out for dinner options. There was one Italian cuisine restaurant on Alla Rena road but only open in the day. That left 2 nr pizza places (La Grazziala and The Simpsons - both a 5 minute walk from hotel) which I enjoyed. There was a panini place on route to the airport (10 minute walk), but I never used it. Other than that, the hotel restaurant, but I never used it. Worst case would be walking to the airport where there was a food hall, but expect to pay overpriced airport prices. Other than that, it would have to be going to Catania center (which of course adds to the cost). All in all, I was happy with the options, but I am low maintenance!I would highly recommend staying at Catania Airport Hotel.
