  Fantastic resort with great food and wine, with a magnificent back-drop!

  We stayed at Cavanera Etnea Resort for one night, and had a truly outstanding experience. We really enjoyed all aspects of our stay, from the room, to the wine and food, location and scenery, as well as the staff. First of all, we were lucky enough to be upgraded to a fantastic, large room with a nice view of the main square and wine racks. We were surprised the wine tasting included a tour of the winery, and Roberto gave us a wonderful description of the rich history of the winery, as well as the process of the wine-making. The wines and food were all excellent - we had a four wine and three course-combo, and they adapted all the dished to our dietary requirements (both dinner and breakfast had great gluten free options!). The staff were all very friendly, helpful, and spoke excellent English. All in all, the total experience surpassed our expectations greatly, and we really cannot recomment enough a stay at the resort!   Poor quality food, unfriendly staff, nice grounds

  Although the room was beautiful and the grounds lovely, the beds were too soft for our backs. Additionally the pool was freezing cold, too cold to enjoy, the staff were not friendly and worst of all the food was bland and tastless. We were told a few days in advance that there was a special dinner with wine pairing by Chef Andrea Macca and it had a set price and menu. The meal was multi-course and only the appetizer was good. The first corse fish three ways was much too salty to eat. The secondi was also fish which was bland and the potatoes were so salty, you couldn't eat them. I looked strong the room and noticed that most people left food as we did. The other courses were also just awful. The desert was waxy and tasteless. We spoke with a couple beside us and they agreed it was not what they were hoping for and said that these places were not or miss and this was a miss. They were local sicilians on a weekend getaway. Also to note, we bought a bottle of wine from them on our way out, as the wine was exceptional, for 28 euros and at our next stop, found the same wine, same year, exactly the same for 23 euros at the local store...

  No Etna wines in the tasting at an Etna winery, disappointed stay

  We stayed one night in a delux room with a small terrace. No view from the terrace, it was enclosed to give privacy I guess. Room was ok.Pool area is ok, super cold water in the pool. The plastic wine glasses by the pool are worn out which takes away some of the feeling (plastic is good for a pool area but not worn out). It's a wine hotel, they should celebrate the wine with decent glasses. They only offered wine tasting at 13 and we checked too late but they said the dinner will also have a wine tasting. On our evening there was a five course dinner and wine tasting package or no food option. We took the quite expensive package as we wouldn't have time for a separate wine tasting. We were utterly disappointed of the wine selection on the dinner, no Etna wines from an Etna winery. Only their other brand wines made on another location. No tasting or information, it was only a wine package to the dinner. The dinner itself was bland and a bit boring not worth the money and the wine selection did not make it a better experience. When bringing this up with the hotel they offered 15% off the dinner package, it was not worth half. They offered us to stay at the pool until 13 to do a wine tasting (unclear about payment) , but we were checking out that day. They could have compensate with a Etna wine bottle such a simple gesture which doesn't cost much for them. Overall room, dinner, breakfast and the service we were not impressed.

  Beautiful facility quietly situated 40 minutes outside Taormina

  After spending several days in Taormina, my wife and I were looking for an activity outside of town and came upon Cavanera Etnea. We were pleasantly surprised by our experience. A beautiful property with wonderful facilities - our sommelier Roberto was wonderful. He was very knowledgeable about the regional wines, and was full of energy. The wines were great, and paired nicely with our meal for a reasonable price. We would definitely do this again in the future.

  Lovely Lunch with amazing Sommelier

  Two friends and I recently had a lunch and wine tasting experience at the vineyards restaurant, the experience was lovely. We showed up a few minutes before the kitchen closed, however management accommodated us and make sure we felt welcome and received the full service.The food was excellent, the setting beautiful but the highlight of the experience was the expertise, and engaging show like experience [provided by their onsite Sommelier, Roberto Trovato.Highly recommend as a stop on your way up or back from the north side of Etna.
