    Poor Experience

    rating23 Sept 2025

Not Worth the Money – Disappointing ExperienceIn our opinion, this hotel does not offer good value for money. There are several issues that really let it down.Firstly, the way guests are treated seems to depend on nationality. As English visitors, we found it frustrating that access to the beach sunbeds was restricted and came at an extra cost — €39 for two sunbeds and an umbrella, and only during specific hours. Meanwhile, we observed Italian guests accessing the same area earlier than permitted, swimming regardless of flag warnings, and seemingly not paying for sunbeds. The lifeguard, more focused on his phone than his duties, made no effort to intervene — even when a large group helped themselves to beds and entered the sea. Then there’s the issue of dogs by the pool. While we’re dog lovers ourselves, it was frustrating having to listen to constant barking while trying to relax. It also seemed unkind to the animals, lying under sunbeds in the extreme heat just so their owners could sunbathe.Hotel Staff and ServicesWhile the reception staff were polite, they were ultimately unhelpful. For instance, when we asked about a bus tour advertised by the hotel, the receptionist claimed not to know how to book it. After disappearing for ten minutes (we assumed to make enquiries), he returned simply with the same phone number listed on the leaflet — the one we’d already told him didn’t work. Not helpful in the slightest.Housekeeping and NoiseAlthough the cleaning staff do a thorough job, they start extremely early — with loud banging and movement in the hallways from around 7:00 AM. The walls are thin, and it sounds like a thunderstorm is rolling through the room. We were woken up before 7:30 every morning, which completely defeated the purpose of a relaxing holiday.General ConditionThe hotel is dated, with visible limescale, mould, and basic decor throughout. For the price, the facilities and service fall well short of expectations. Unfortunately, we felt it was a complete rip-off and wouldn’t recommend staying here Giacomo Viali, Agenzia/Consulente at Grand Hotel Baia Verde, responded to this review Dear Ms. Kenzitt,First of all we would like to thank you for you stay at Grand Hotel Baia Verde and for having spent time to share you message with us.We are really sorry if your experience didn't suit your expectations but we would allow ourselves to believe that your judgment is too severe and we would like to take this opportunity that you kindly give us to clarify some things.- Firstly we would like to clarify there is no unequal treatment between Italian and foreign guests. We believe that all our guests are equally important, and your satisfaction is our main goal we daily work on.- The access to the sea and to the pool has a specific tange time we need to follow according to a specific loca law because they both need assistance by staff. If someone didn't respect this rule, it was outside the permitted hours when there is no assistance service. This certainly cannot be attributed to our staff but to the behavior of individuals. The same thig is for dogs in the shared areas: there are specific rules in order to not annoying guests. If you had reported the problem to us, we would have taken action.- We thank you noticing our staff were polite but we would like to specify it's also available in order to best offer the service also for arranging excursions and tours. In that occasion our colleague didn't disappeared but simply was trying to contact the company to check the availability (maybe unfortunately with success because the line were buisy). We apologize if the impression was the service to be not helpful.- Finally concerning the noisy we would like to clarify the housekeeping staff starts the service from 08,00am so maybe the noise came from other guest passing through the corridor. We took your message very carefully becase we believe it will be useful for us in order to improve our hotel and its services. Anyway we cannot accept word like "rip-off" because it's not our way of thinking and working.Tjhank you & Best RegardsThe ManagementGrand Hotel Baia Verde

Look elsewhere as this hotel is definitely not worth the money.

    rating20 Aug 2025

From the onset of driving into the car park I knew this was a bad choice! No signage, no marked spaces, uneven and unsealed portions with exposed tree roots and debris everywhere. No signage to reception which we eventually found. On entering the room it had a stale smell and odour. I opened the doors to the balcony that was a struggle due to old and weathered metal handles and lock. I then went into the bathroom for a shower and plug in the bath became stuck and the open and sit valve was hopelessly rusted and inoperable. I contacted reception and an incompetent ‘handyman’ with no grasp of any English completely struggled to understand the issue. The female manager attended and I showed her the broken and run down bath, the mould everywhere, the water rotted timber frame, the faulty and broken electrical socket etc! I was offered a room with a lesser view and further away without any real acknowledgment of the disgraceful condition of the room. If I could have checked out I would have but it was pre paid and I feared I would not be refunded. I had to ask 4 times for a kettle as none are in the rooms. They do not have irons or ironings boards citing it as a fire risk despite numerous people smoking continuously on their balconies, in the restaurant, around the swimming pool and at the bar. This hotel needs to be inspected by the authorities and management should be replaced. The response to the derelict condition of the room was farcical and incompetent. Sleep in your car or on the street….anywhere but at this dump.

    Average hotel with great potential

    rating23 Jun 2025

The hotel is very charming and historical, the rooms are refreshed but not the bathrooms. Pool side and bar are great also the seaside area on the rocks. The mian issue with this hotel is the menu of the restaurant, 5 dishes without any attention to healthy salads or local fishy dishes, truly a super poor menu, very diasppointing considering that you are in italy and the quality of food really average. The second issue of this hotel are the slamming doors in the morning, they have very light entrance doors of the room and whoever close a door in the hallway make a noise that can be listen directly in the room with the disturb of sleep. It a nice hotel but they must fix these two issues to go next level.

    AVOID!!!!

    rating23 Jun 2025

***AVOID- DON'T BE FOOLED THAT IT IS A 4* UNSURE HOW THIS IS A 4 STAR!! ***1) Service- I'm unsure if this is not a thing in Sicily perhaps, but as my partner dropped me to the entrance with the bags so he could park the car, I was evidently struggling with 2 hand luggage's and 2 suitcases and as I got through the swivel doors there were 2 male staff members stood at the reception desk staring in the direction of the doors I was trying to come through. So much for offering a helping hand to a paying customer right?2) Beach sun beds- After speaking with 1 life guide to collect our towels, we made our way down to the beach to go in the water, passing another life guard sat half way down the stairs. We then get situated on 2 beach sun beds and within 5 minutes of getting comfortable we're approached by a 3rd life guard who says the sunbeds on the beach costs $15 per sunbed. The beach is part of the hotel no? And is advertised on booking.com and trip advisor. Outrageous.3) Breakfast- SHOCKINGLY RUBBISH. It's set up like a school party buffet, horrible selection, flies on everything, coffee from a machine, 2 x fried eggs $10, omelette $10. If you are already serving scrambled eggs, why are we paying more for eggs made a different way. We were that unimpressed with the breakfast we opted to get up and out early to buy breakfast outside of the hotel. Disgusting.4) Mini bar- Overpriced tat. Absolute rip offs.5) Room- The ONLY positive I can give the room is that we slept really well every night, but I think it was because we were so busy during the day times that it didn't matter where we slept quite frankly. Although, anytime we opened the window to get some air in, there was a rancid smell in the air. This hotel is 100000% aimed at corporate people and 1 night business trips, DO NOT book this if you are going for a holiday. I hope my review reaches anyone who is looking to book this as a holiday and hopefully stops them. This hotel wasn't exactly cheap, so please spend this kind of money elsewhere please and don't make the same mistake as us.

A little smile and some body balm soothes the soul!

    rating21 Jun 2025

This is an interesting hotel experience. There are some fabulous things about it but then some other elements which are very ordinary. This has the potential to be a pretty perfect property but it’s let down in a few areas. Firstly the pool and the beach areas are absolutely spectacular. The view from our room and the comfort of the room - superb! However many of the pool lounge chairs were dirty and the towels are pretty scratchy and a bit tired. The downside I the room: the hot water in the shower - cold! Getting in and out of the shower (clambering over the bath lip) was slippery and dangerous - no grip bath mat for us oldies. A small thing but they provided 5 little bottles of shampoo in the bath, but no body balm or proper hair conditioner. Really annoying for a beach resort hotel. We booked dinner in the ocean view restaurant. When we arrived - (we booked with the hotel concierge) no booking - despite the fact they knew we were hotel guests! They then proceeded to give the only table with a view to the people who arrived well after us - because they had their booking in writing! No apology; no checking with Reception, no smile - we left in disgust! The breakfast spread closes at 10.00 am.There were slim pickings by 9..15 am both days and you had to pay 10 euro for eggs or an omelette. I’ve not seen that in Europe previously. Def worst breakfast in 6 weeks spent in Europe. Massive corporate group in both nights and no attempt was made to quiet the noise after midnight when apparently the bar closes. Staff are generally professional and pleasant here but could smile so much more and be more patient with their non Italian speaking guests. We asked for a late checkout as we had a long haul flight late at night. We were told 10.00 am! My partner replied - the breakfast doesn’t even finish till 10! They begrudgingly allowed us to stay until 12 but we’re not overly helpful or interested. And this from a hotel that stipulates check in at 3 pm! I would return here for the pool and beach - not for the hospitality.
