Location

This hotel is located on the Ortigia peninsula, in the tourist centre of Syrakus. The sea is located close to the hotel and sightseeing attractions, such as the Greek Theatre, the Ropemaker's Cave, Dionysius Ear, the Roman amphitheatre and Archimedes tomb are all in the vicinity. In only a number of minutes, guests will arrive at numerous shopping venues, nightclubs, and public transport (all within 300 m). Syrakus beach is around 500 m away. The train station and bus station are within 2 km of the hotel. Fontanarossa airport is some 55 km away.

Facility

The hotel was built in 1890. 5 suites, 5 single rooms and 48 double rooms are located on 3 storeys and can be reached by lift. Multilingual staff (English, German, French) at the reception desk in the lobby are ready to assist you with check-in and check-out. Amenities include a baggage storage service, a safe and a currency exchange service. Wireless internet access allows guests to stay connected while on holiday.     I just left the hotel after my second stay-last year at this time and now. As always it was wonderful.The location is great and the rooms and bathrooms are lovely. I would also like to say that the housekeeping is excellent. The room where breakfast is served ( which also is the dining room) is really lovely and overlooks the water.I want to say a special thanks to Emanuele, Luciano and Adriano who went out of their way to provide warm, informative service as well as a heartfelt welcome back. They certainly made my stay a nicer experience.For anyone going to Ortigia this hotel is an excellent choice.

    Splendid old, grand hotel. A great experience to stay there. The location is perfect. Rooms are spacious and well equipped. The breakfast is very good. Staff is very friendly and helpful.

    Ortea Palace is a beautiful and historical inspiring hotel. It is situatiated perfectly for both arriving and exploring Ortigia. We stayed at a junior suite at the top floor with a perfect view of the water and a terrasse with sun all day.The best however was the attention, kindness and professional of the staff in general and Silvia at the front office in particular.She was simply amazing - she is a sure 10.The reason why I score our stay an 8 and not a 10 is the missing pool/outside area for the shoulder season and the really cheap furniture on our terrasse, which was really not fitting for your beautiful hotel as well as the opening hours of the Spa area.

    This is a beautiful, historic hotel in an excellent location. The room was very comfortable and had a fantastic view of the sea. Bed was very comfortable and the bathroom had every amenity. Breakfast was included and was terrific, everything you could want, and was served in a lovely room with outdoor space facing the sea. The staff was excellent, accommodating in every way. There is a small museum on the lower level housing artifacts and remnants of the original Spanish Walls that once surrounded the city. We found it fascinating. Easy walking distance to restaurants, the Duomo and other historic sites. Highly recommend and would definitely return!
