    Great time in Hotel Hopps

    We had a great time in Hotel Hopps: The food was always good, the lay-out of the hotel was very nice, our room was clean, well-furnished and we had a lovely view from our balcony. The staff was always friendly and we especially enjoyed the animation. Marika die her utmost to entertain us. We also enjoyed the position of the hotel, because we could walk into town and along the promenade from there. We thought it was great that the hotel drove us to the beautiful Tonnarella beach by bus. We can very much recommend Hotel Hopps.

    'A mixed bag' would be a generous statement. But in a spirit of goodwill - let's start with all the good things about this hotel.1) The staff - friendly, efficient, helpful. Can't fault anyone who worked here - from the guy who fixed my toilet to the people behind the front desk. All first class, all fluent and all deserving of a much nicer hotel to work at.2) The shower is pretty good.3) The pizzas in the outside kitchen / diner area are absolutely first class.4) Location - centrally based in a very VERY pretty town where your money goes far. This is should be the only reason to book this place.And the less than good.1) Room - clean enough - but cold, lacking any character or appealing decor. Maybe it was just my single room, as it looked like none of them on TUI's website, but it was similar to a high ceilinged prison cell. Avoid Rm309. If thats yours, move.2) Fridge. Made a loud constant droning noise similar to Tibetan Monks trying to escape hell. I unplugged it for the whole week.3) WORST BED IN HUMAN HISTORY. This was the sort of £30 mattress you'd buy when you first move out of your mum's. Absolutely awful. Avg 3hrs sleep a night. Constantly exhausted.4) TV - through sheer attrition, I flicked through over 400 channels when it rained one day, and not one of them was in English. Even the movie channels were dubbed.5) No USB ports. Absolutely unforgivable for 4* these days.6) Entertainment. Really REALLY loud, so if you're room faces the pool and you want to go to bed before 10pm, welcome to purgatory. Even with the window closed AND EARPLUGS, this did little. Coupled with the mattress, trying to sleep was an utterly miserable experience. Worse if you dislike opera.7) Right Lift out of order. Broken Panel exposed all electronics - unacceptable and unsafe.8) Internet - 2euros a day for very slow, unreliable internet service. 9) Main restaurant - scant selection of very basic hot pasta dishes of varying quality. Salads better, but serving area subject to constant fly invasions. There is no excuse for that these days. Toaster was useless - a hairdryer would have done a better job.Things that are bad, but not the Hotel's fault.1) Beach. Absolutely vile. Such a shame... rubbish everywhere, not a soul to be seen. Really very grim.2) Outside of your Hotel - NO ONE SPEAKS ENGLISH. This is not anyones fault, least of all the locals, but Google translate is your very best friend in this town. Sicily is a beautiful place and well worth a visit. The weather was still warm, and there were absolutely no crowds. But unless a central town location is important to you, avoid Hopps. Its pretty disappointing - and absolutely undeserving of 4*, which is actually very misleading. This is a 2* - at best. I wish I did better research.

    Clean hotel.Great animation team! Food and drinks with few options! But still enough! They have a pizza restaurant everyday!In spite of being located at the beachfront! we cannot swim because of the rocks!

    Excellent entertainment big shout out to the performance of maraika jeuseppe and federeico All very friendly great singers and made the week for everyone the best . They make the hotel great. Hotel nice next to the promenade. Food nice . Would come back especially for the entertainment and the entertainment team and the singer who we’re superb

    On arrival in our room there was no water in the fridge, told not to drink tap water or fill bottles from dispenser. Loud music every night till midnight. Two excursions were good. All-inclusive drinks were very limited.
