Location

Quietly located on a hillside, this hotel lies on the outskirts of the pleasant Baroque city of Caltagirone. It is about 3 km to the lively town centre and links to the public transport network lie within 200 m of the hotel whilst an abundance of shopping venues, bars and restaurants are to be found within 3 km of the hotel. Gela on the south coast is approximately 30 km away and it is 60 km to Catania and 64 km to the international airport.

Facility

91 rooms, including 4 junior suites, suites and 86 double rooms, are located on 5 storeys and can be reached by lift. Guests are warmly welcomed by multilingual staff (English, German, French) at the 24-hour reception desk in the lobby. Check-in/check-out service is available round the clock. Amenities include a baggage storage service, a safe and a currency exchange service. Wireless internet access is provided in public areas.     Very positive:We had a very large, clean room with a terrace with fantastic views. Ate twice at the restaurant for dinner. Excellent pasta and very attentive staff. It would have been nice to have a larger selection of menu items, as neither of us eat fish.Breakfast was extensive, well stocked and staffed.The hotel, (while I'm sure management knows, needs a little updating here and there, such as hall and stair carpets,) was exactly what we needed for our stay on Sicily - tranquility.     Appalling food & service

    Our party of 20 people stayed for 1 night at this 4*hotel on our 'Spotlight on Sicily' tour with TUI. The hotel is very tired looking , in need of a paint job both inside & outside. The evening meal was a set meal consisting of 'Pea soup' for the starter & 'Swordfish' for the main course. What we were served as beyond appalling. The Pea soup was not in fact soup, but a large bowl of cold mushy peas straight from a tin. The main course was a greasy frozen swordfish steak with a small blob of Instant mashed potato, which was also served cold. Several members of the party complained at the time & 1 person was given a bowl of pasta in tomato sauce. However whwith en several people tasted this we all agreed this was not a fresh tomato sauce but a sauce from a jar or tin as it was bland with no substance to it. Even though numerous people complained we were not offered any alternative or even a free coffee. As I was unable to eat the food provided due to the content & the cold temperature my evening meal consisted of 2 bread rolls. The hotel seemed totally unable to deal a large group & were obviously not interested in making a good impression or providing 4* quality service or food. This was the first time TUI had contracted this hotel on this tour & I sincerely hope they do not use them again as I do not wish anyone in the future to to receive this appalling level of service. As a result of the appalling food & service we received many in our party, upon checkout, refused to pay for the drinks they had with their meal on the night .     We had a wonderful stay at this hotel for my son’s birthday. The staff, particularly Lorena from Reception, were exceptionally kind and helpful throughout our visit. She organized a lovely surprise in our room and even arranged a birthday cake. The view from our room was stunning, and it was delightful waking up to it each morning.The dinner was excellent, and breakfast offered a good selection, though both were quite pricey compared to outside options. Unfortunately, there’s no food or coffee service between 12:00-19:30, which was inconvenient, though one staff member kindly made coffee for us during these hours.A few areas for improvement: our room lacked basic shower amenities (gel, shampoo, conditioner), and the ordering app wasn’t working. The bathroom cleanliness could be better, particularly the extractor fan and area behind the door. The restaurant menu online differs from what’s actually offered, and chicken options are limited. Also, tourist tax is collected at the property despite the booking suggesting taxes were included.Despite these minor issues, we absolutely loved our stay and will definitely return.
