Location

This hotel is located on the Scalinata Alessi Steps, set between Via Etnea and Via Crociferi. It lies in the Baroque heart of the historical centre of Catania, which provides outstanding testimony to the beauty of Sicilian architecture and has been declared a UNESCO heritage site. The nearest nightspots are 1 km away, as is Villa Bellini's park and it is 2 km to the beach. There are a number of attractions in the surrounding area including Agrigento (17 km), Mount Etna (40 km), Taormina (51 km), Syracuse (60 km) and Palermo (210 km). It is 5 km to Catania Airport and 190 km to Palermo Airport.

5 suites and 25 double rooms are located on 4 storeys and can be reached by lift.     Totally avoidable

    DO NOT BOOK.1 star for the reasonable location.Rest all is totally avoidable. Dirty bathrooms, poor maintenance, dirty floors & carpets.Looks like it survives only on tour groups which are there just for 1 night.

    Do not stay here!! The lobby looks ok but the rooms are nasty. The shower door literally fell on top of me during my shower, the bathroom is dirty- and I mean dirty- smells like old urine. The beds are hard as rocks. The whole place needs a makeover. 4 stars is a joke!

    I stayed here 4 nights with an OAT small group tour. They claim to be a 4 star hotel. I would give them 3 stars at best. Dated rooms, mold on the bathtub caulking, thin/non-existent pillows. They claimed to have a rooftop terrace, but the door to the terrace was locked and even the door handle was missing. WiFi was unusable in my room and even the reception. If you need reliable internet access don’t stay here. The hotel has many rooms with one small elevator. We had 5 people in the elevator and the door opened between floors. Frightening. If guests are going to multiple floors once someone presses a floor number it goes there first. If someone ahead of you hits the 3rd floor and you are on the 2nd you’re stuck going up to 3rd before the elevator even allows you to press 2. The only redeeming factors were an excellent location and good breakfast.

    Superficially plush with lots of marble. Meals are breakfast only, waiters busy setting tables but not clearing them, and strangely, table spoons are never laid on the dining table. No USB charging points in any bedroom. You have to unplug a light. Breakfast is ample and the coffee good though cups are not warmed so it goes tepid quickly. Beds comfortable, if hard, and pillows thin. Good restaurants in surrounding alleys. Access is difficult as main door is up a very narrow street at the foot of steps leading to the next street. Reception staff do their best and are nice people.

    We stayed at this hotel for one night and our personal experience was fairly good for the time spent. As we arrived, the front desk greeted us and as we arrived early they could not check us in right away till 12 noon and its understood. However we decided to go have breakfast and we were recommended several places close by. excellent recommendations . Very helpful staff and obliging to say the least. The room we stayed in was very clean ,tidy and comfortable. The bathroom was okay but had a small issue with the base of the shower that spewed water probably due to a faulty valve that compromised the flow of water but despite that small issue, the hot water was pretty good. My only other wish would be that the room had a hot water kettle and coffee/Tea.The room was extremely quiet. atmosphere was good & clean linen and fresh towels and a few amenities. plenty of storage and a desk. overall no issues with staff who were very helpful throughout.wonderful location, close to many restaurants, historic churches and markets. very safe for walking any time. no issues but be mindful of your surroundings like anywhere on the planet.
