Location

The large farmhouse's privileged location, its proximity to the sea and quiet countryside environment allows its guests to spend an unforgettable holiday, characterised by relaxation and culture. The local area was once an agricultural centre but these activities have now died down. Many of the buildings still display evidence of the area's agricultural past. The hotel is, in fact, just a few kilometres away from the island of Ortygia and the historic centre of Syracuse, with its striking Greek theatre. The hotel is around a 5-minute walk from local public transport links and approximately a 15-minute drive from the railway and bus stations. The beach at Fanusa and coast at Plemmirio are around a 25- and 15-minute walk from the establishment respectively. The Archaeological Park and the Plemmirio protected marine area are around 5 km and 1.5 km away from the hotel. Catania Airport is approximately 60 km away.

Facility

Guests have a choice of 19 rooms, 3 junior suites and 13 double rooms. Multilingual staff (English, German, French) at the reception desk in the lobby are ready to assist you with check-in and check-out.     Like sleeping in a discoteque all night!!

    Do not come here!! It is extremely noisy. There is a discoteque in the same building and every night there is very loud Music with a dj who shouts in the microphone. They did not stop before 00-02 am. It is horrible! Do not come here. The owners do not do anything. Their excuse is that they do not own the discoteque so they cannot do anything about it. It is bad service. And they do not give a Warning on the webpage, so you expect peace and quite out in the countryside . Not here!!(The Food is bad too but the Music is torture.) Choose another hotel is our best advice!

    We booked this hotel for a weeks stay as we had a wedding in Ortigia. There was 14 of us staying here including small children. We have honestly had one of the best holidays staying here at Kalaonda. The hotel was perfect for us as a family the children could play on the grounds and the pool was perfect. This hotel ticks all the boxes but what makes it truly special is the staff. A huge thank you to Juiliana, Steffania, Christian and Anna who looked after us all and went above and beyond to make our stay the best week possible. Amazing, kind and tentative staff, cleaners and maintenance staff also so lovely. They are all a credit to this hotel. Another thank you to Francesco at Green Rent (taxi) who took us everywhere as the hotel is quite remote so a car is required. Francesco and his staff were incredibly kind and helpful a true gentleman with lots of knowledge of the town. We really made some great friends from this holiday and we will definitely holiday again at Kalaonda. Highly highly recommend

    We loved this place in the countryside near Siracusa. Tastefully remodeled facility. Our unit was spacious, with air conditioning (necessary as the outside temperature was >40C/104F for a couple of days). You will need a car to get around.

    A perfect hotel with delightful staff

    This hotel is the perfect couples retreat for anyone wanting a peaceful base to explore the South Eastern Sicilian coast. The hotel is set in beautifully converted grounds and the large swimming pool is perfect for relaxing or for getting those lengths in.The staff were all delightful and more than accommodating, especially the lovely night porter!We ate on the last night of our stay from the restaurant menu and sat by the pool watching the water glistening and the stars above whole lot by candle light. The food was delicious and very reasonably priced. There is enough in the local area at the village of Isola or towards the Plemmerio riserva to enjoy evenings out with good food. Or a taxi can be arranged through the hotel for €20 each way.We will definitely be back in the future.

    Fabulous Grounds

    I did not actually stay at this hotel but was here everyday for 5 days as my family stayed here and we hosted a wedding.Rooms are amazing, spacious and modernly decorated. The grounds are just as lovely with a nice pool area.The staff for the most part were lovely but not very accommodating.The restaurant is not very child friendly (although the chef is a great guy) and they do not allow outside food to be eaten in there seating areas which I find strange as most hotels in Catania encourage you to try their local restaurants.This is definitely a location that is more enjoyed if you have a car but there is supermarket 10 minutes walk from the site.The snacks/drinks on sale there are very expensive, I paid 3 euros for a small bottle of coke and the supermarket 10 minutes walk away sold it for one euro (if you want more money spent at your venue look at your pricing and menu options)The WeddingThe wedding was amazing and they made the scenery like something out of a movie GORGEOUS!!The food was nicely presented and tasted lovely but not enough child friendly options. They also have a place that holds events next door which happened to be hosting a party the same night as the wedding, in turn that party ruined the speeches as they decided to put the music on full blast during this point of the wedding (the staff did not address the noise problem from the other party which was disappointing).overall this is a lovely place that with some fine tuning can easily become a 5 star resort.
