Location

The hotel features spectacular views over the bay and Mount Etna. It is located in a quiet area just a 5-minute walk from the famous Corso Umberto and the historic centre of Taormina. There are also restaurants, shops, bars and nightclubs within easy reach. The nearest airport is Catania, around 50 km away.

Facility

7 single rooms and 43 double rooms are located on 6 storeys and can be reached by lift. English- and French-speaking staff at the reception desk in the lobby are ready to assist you with check-in and check-out. Amenities include a cloakroom, baggage storage service, safe and currency exchange service. Wireless internet access allows guests to stay connected while on holiday. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. There are a number of shops as well. A garden provides extra space for rest and relaxation in the open air. Additional amenities include a TV room and a library. Guests arriving by car can park their vehicles in the garage (for a fee) or in the car park. Further services and facilities include a babysitting service, a childcare service, a car hire service, medical assistance, a transfer service, room service (for a fee), a laundry service, a coin-operated laundry and a hotel shuttle bus. A fax machine is available for guests' business needs.

Rooms

Air conditioning and individually adjustable heating ensure that rooms maintain comfortable temperatures. A balcony is included as standard in some rooms. Rooms have a double bed or a queen-size bed. Extra beds can be requested. A minibar and a desk are also available. A trouser press is provided for guests' convenience. A direct dial telephone, a television with satellite/cable channels, a radio and WiFi (no extra charge) are provided as well. Slippers are included. Bathrooms are equipped with a shower, a bathtub and a bidet. For additional convenience, bathrooms also provide a hairdryer. For extra comfort in the bathrooms, guests are offered cosmetic products. The hotel has family rooms and 50 non-smoking rooms.

Sport

A dip in the refreshing outdoor pool is not to be missed. Even on grey days, guests can always go for a swim in the indoor pool. A short break or an entire afternoon on the sun terrace, which features sun loungers and parasols, is time well spent. A wide range of sports and activities are offered at the hotel, such as cycling/mountain biking. For a fee, guests can also enjoy tennis, golf and horse riding. With snorkelling or, for a fee, windsurfing, paddle boating and diving available, fans of water sports have plenty of options to choose from. The fitness rooms are perfect for a comprehensive workout. A spa and solarium are available in the wellness area. Activity coordinators organise an entertainment programme for adults and children.

Meals

Various dining options are available, including a café and a bar. A number of specialities await guests in the air-conditioned, non-smoking restaurant. Catering options include bed and breakfast, half board and full board. A generous breakfast buffet, lunch and dinner offer plenty of delicious variety. Diet meals and children's meals can be prepared on request. The hotel also offers special catering options.

    Stayed here for 4 nights in May 2026 on route to tourning Sicily.The hotel is in need of some investment to up grade the decor and facilities, but has an old world charm that we really loved. The hotel is spotlessly clean and adequate in a stunning location. The restaurant terrace with views of Etna and the bay are stunning and having breakfast whilst taking in the view is one of the highlights of our stay. The pool area is lovely for a chill and sunbathe and the main town is just a 10 minutes walk downhill and steps ( harder coming back than going ) All in all a good choice whilst visiting Taormina for the not too fussy.

    I cant believe that positive reviews of this hotel are genuine. I would add a new category - THIS IS A DUMP, be warned dont book.The management are not just unfriendly they are aggresive.There is a fridge in the room, on checking in you are issued with a note that this is not for hotel guests and any personal items that are added will be removed without notice and immediately.Breakfast was a pathetic offering, where do they get such pitiful scrambled eggs, definitely not from a fresh egg.The person who took the photograph of the pool should get an award, this pool is dangerous to access, after coming out of the lift you have to negotiate a dangerous set of poorly built steps with no handrails, if this was the uk it would be served a notice by the HSE.The bathroom is very small and anyone bigger that size 14 will not get through the cheap plastic shower doors, this is the same for the lift doorsWe left after two days, no goodbye from the manager just an angry growl; where do they get these guys from?

    We love this hotel. The staff are lovely and the customer service is excellent. The ambience of the hotel makes one feel very comfortable. Its' "step into the past" gives the hotel character and an authentic feel; we would be sad if this changed.The hotel's setting is so beautiful, with spectacular panoramic views of Taormina, the Ionian Sea and Mount Etna. The town, with shops, restaurants and bars is around five minutes walk away. (We didn't mind the steep walk). There is a swimming pool on the hotel roof, set in a tranquil, pretty garden, (not all hotels in Taormina have pools). Moreover, there is a reasonably priced shuttle to the hotel's sister hotel on the beach, with free use of sun beds/towels. We enjoyed our stay at The Hotel Mediterranée so much and were sad to leave. (We stayed in room 83, from 18 September).

    Charming Hotel Lost in Time — Not for Luxury Lovers

    If you’re looking for a swanky, ultra-modern hotel with every mod con, this isn’t the place for you. But if you want to step back in time, relax and soak up a bit of old-world charm, this hotel is perfect. Choose the right room and you’ll have a large terrace with stunning views of Mount Etna. The pool area and gardens are beautiful and peaceful, ideal for unwinding.The hotel really feels lost in time, in the best possible way. The bathroom is very small and occasionally has a faint sulphur smell but it’s nothing unbearable. It’s a little sad that they’ve tried to modernise the rooms with newer furniture as I actually preferred the original dark wood style, which suited the building’s character better.The location is fantastic, offering some of the best views around and just a short walk to the town itself. The staff are friendly and very attentive. Yes, the place could use a bit of updating here and there, particularly the bathrooms and a touch of general TLC, but overall it’s full of charm.The air conditioning worked well for us and we really appreciated the on-site parking. If you need to hang around before heading to the airport, the staff are happy to store your luggage, which is a real bonus.We loved our stay. It’s a hotel with soul and character, not polish and perfection.

    Genuine atmosphere and stunning view

    You come here for the genuine atmosphere, the friendly service and of course the stunning view of Taormina. The room standard is basic but everything is clean and very well kept. The pool area is great, with a spectacular view over the Taormina, and bar service is only a phone call away. And the bar makes the best Aperol spritz you will find in Taormina! A great advantage with the hotel is the access you get to Hotel Mediterranee Lido at the beach. Centre of Taormina is only a short walk away (5-10 min). It’s the second time we stay here, and we will surely come back.
