    Mixed Experience – Beautiful Hotel but Let Down by Noise Issues

    My daughter and I stayed at MPH for three nights in early July. While the hotel has some lovely features, our overall experience was unfortunately impacted by several avoidable issues.We were initially given a room with a window rather than a balcony, which was due to an error by the booking agent—not the hotel. We requested a swap, but no balcony rooms were available. That said, the room was clean, modern, and the beds were comfortable. We also really enjoyed the breakfast—fresh and well-prepared.The hotel is located in a fairly remote area, and with the on-site restaurant closed during our stay, we had to drive out every evening to find dinner. We stayed in Room 1, which is right next to reception. Unfortunately, this made for a very disturbed first night due to loud noise and what sounded like shouting during the night. We requested a room change and were moved to a room on the first floor, which was thankfully much quieter.On the second evening, we returned to the hotel around 10pm hoping to have a drink at the bar, but were told it closed at 8pm and only soft drinks were available. That night, however, we did manage to get a good night’s sleep.On our final night, we came back to loud music and a full DJ party by the pool and garden area. This was quite a shock, especially as we needed to wake at 6am for a four-hour drive to the airport and from the car in the UK. I called reception at 11:30pm to ask when the music would end, as the bass was extremely loud and disturbing. I was told it was a birthday party. When I pointed out that it was a Monday and some guests might have work or early travel, the receptionist replied that it "shouldn't affect me since I was on vacation." That response was disappointing and dismissive.Overall, this is a nice hotel with a great pool, good breakfast, and mostly polite, helpful staff. But the lack of consistency and poor communication about noise disruptions seriously affected our stay. Had I known in advance about these issues—particularly the late-night events and limited dining/bar options—I would have chosen a different hotel.

    Terrible Stay

    Terrible stay. We couldn't sleep because of loud music and noise coming from downstairs with children shouting. Early morning the staff were moving the chairs and tables, which we could listen very loudly from our room. As they knew that they were going to have a function They should gave us another room instead of the one which were offered, our intention of the stay was to relax not hearing every possible noise during the night till early morning!! I complained with the reception about the situation and she was sorry but she said she could't do nothing because she is an employee. It was the worst stay in the past 10 years that we have been visiting this hotel for many times over the years. No form of compensation was offered as a gesture of this very unpleasant stay. Hope the new management will take action on this.

    We recently spent 10 days at Modica Palace Hotel. Everyone from the front desk, housekeeping, maintenance and restaurant staff were wonderful. All were friendly and helpful. The pool area is very nice and peaceful. We booked a superior room which was quiet and comfortable. We'd definitely consider staying here again should we find ourselves in Modica.Notes: The shuttle is no longer available. You definitely need a car or you'll be booking taxis. Breakfast was very good. The restaurant didn't appear to be open for dinner or was only open for groups so we never tried to eat there. Some of the pool furniture was in need of repair or replacement. It is the end of the season..All in all it was a very good experience.

    We first visited Modica Palace Hotel last summer and loved it so much we decided to return. We soon found that things had dramatically changed. We were old the hotel had changed hands. Skeleton staff, dinner that used to be amazing but now on a set menu that never changes so for us with the half board would have meant eating the same things for a week. The staff tried to help but we were not enjoying our meals at all. There were only 4 people dining in the restaurant each night whereas last year it was always full and despite this we had to wait for hours to be served. On more than one occasion our food did not arrive as ordered and we sent it back. On our last night I ordered a steak well done and I received it rare at which point we just got up and left. It is obvious that there are issues at management level, cost cuts is the one standing out but what was unacceptable was the Manager's behaviour. When we asked for a refund on our meal he got angry and his behaviour was quite aggressive, he told us there were no problems with the hotel and the reviews were good. He was not interested in listening to our feedback and he just left while we were talking and slammed the door on us. If I was the owner of this business I would be worried. A good manager always tries to accommodate customers and listen to their issues even act out on them so that customers do actually go back. I have recommended this hotel to so many people but will no longer do that and definitely will not return. It's such a shame.
