    Summer Break

    rating17 Aug 2021

We stayed with our family of 5 at the Atelier sul Mare, into two "Camere d'Arte" and we had the best time. The rooms were peculiar but spacious and clean. It's a creative experience which should be used as a break from a normal summer. 100% recommend this hotel for a quick weekend in Sicily by the sea. Gianfranco Molino, Direttore generale at Museo Albergo d'Arte Contemporanea Atelier Sul Mare, responded to this review Dear Sabrina, thank you so much for staying in hotel-museum Atelier sul Mare and taking your time to write your review. I'am pleased to read that your family enjoyed your stay and had a creative experience. We hope that you will decide to visit Castel di Tusa again and that we will have the opportunity to welcome you in our hotel-museum again. Kind regards.Gianfranco MolinoArt DirectorFiumara d'Arte Foundation/Museum-Hotel Atelier sul Mare

Weird hotel. Weird is not always wonderful.

    rating09 Sept 2019

We stayed at this hotel in Castel di Tusa for two nights. Upon arrival we were given the option of two rooms which was greatly appreciated, especially since the first room was painted almost completely black and was extremely dark (apparently this was some sort of art concept). We opted for the room that was more sizeable and were fortunate enough to have a balcony overlooking the sea and put the two chairs from the room out to view the seascape. The room was basic and had interesting art splattered all over the wall in every direction with some interesting pieces on the floor too. Sadly the bathroom really let the room down, the floor and ceiling were painted dark blue which gave it a very unsanitary and oppressive feeling. When I had a shower it was not hot, but when my partner showered there was hot water.Breakfast on the first morning (Sunday) was like a farmyard. There was a dog barking in the breakfast room (we are not dog people and think it is unacceptable that dogs are eating breakfast with us). We sat on a table with chairs, as one does at breakfast. I was then tutted and frowned at by a disgruntled waitress who shook her head at me and disapproved at our seating location, but then eventually said ‘ok’ to where we were sat after my partner questioned her. Extremely bizarre and I have never had such a poor attitude from staff where I have been paying and have sat at a table with seats in the breakfast room. Perhaps it was an art installation we were not aware of. There was also irritating ‘chill out’ music playing in the breakfast room which was not for us and further soured the experience. Luckily on our second morning of our stay the breakfast server was lovely and we were not berated over our choice of seating location and no dogs were barking. When we went to check out the staff were disinterested and preferred to speak to the Italian natives who arrived after us at the check out desk which did not leave us feeling valued as customers. We weren’t even sure our check out procedure had been completed as nobody said thank you or goodbye and continued to chat to the Italian guests. We simply excused ourselves, irritated and begrudged at poor service, an oppressive, unclean feeling of a room and bizarre contemporary ‘art’. If you want a clean, airy, fresh place to stay with good service this is not it. If you want somewhere you can subjectively evaluate as having good aesthetic and shroud it in contemporary art than this is your place. I only bumped this review up to a 3 because the town is a quaint little fishing village with a picturesque beach. Gianfranco M, Direttore generale at Museo Albergo d'Arte Contemporanea Atelier Sul Mare, responded to this review Thank you for your feedback regarding your recent stay at museum-hotel Atelier sul Mare. I apologize for all the bad feelings that you've been having, consequently it seems right to reply your comments. It's only fair to do so in the interest of all our guests.- The blue bathroom "unsanitary and oppressive feeling" is just your “feeling”, and no one else’s. This kind of feeling does not belong to other guests, so it's irrelevant.- The shower hot water system works perfectly, your partner declares it. Probably you needs some practice on how to use shower taps.- Dogs are always welcome in our museum-hotel, as well as in thousands hotels. Therefore, think that it's unacceptable that dogs can sit with their owners, that’s only from your point of view. If there was a dog barking in the breakfast room, the owner would have been pointed. However, the Direction has not received any complaints by all the guests having breakfast in the same area with you. - It's not clear what happened about the "disgruntled waitress" who shook her head at you and disapproved your seating location (???). Maybe it was a smile or any other nice communicatio and you may have misinterpreted it? You see, sometimes, can arise cases of misunderstanding when we're not speaking the same language.- The music choice for the breakfast is classic (Mozart, Bach, Vivaldi, etc.), and no other. I don't have idea what music you've heard during the breakfast.- Thousands of foreigners stay at our museum-hotel. Our aim must remain an equally high standard of service for everyone, natives or not. My dear sir, possibly you're prejudiced. That was your feeling, too. Just like your oppressive and unclean feeling of the room. Usually, our guests appreciate the cleanliness of the rooms, this is evident in the comments that they leave on TA. I would add that the rooms cleanings, bathrooms and all the other areas are always 100% supervised after the cleaning process. So, it's hard to believe a poor cleaning, as described.- Furthermore, the photos you posted to TA clearly shows your enjoyment and pleasure in our museum-hotel facility. Well isn’t that completely contradictory according to you? I conclude by saying that I perceived a note of deep hostility and prejudice towards the museum-hotel Atelier sul Mare, completely unjustified and unreasonable. Comments about a disservice must be clear and not based on “feeling” or “perceptions”, otherwise it’s just a slander. A dreamy experience stepping into a piece of Art

    rating11 Jun 2019

Unique dreamy experience and amazing Art hotel, welcomed by passionate and dedicated staff. A must do if you are traveling to Sicily! We had the luck to visit some of the art rooms guided by Paolo and pick ours. Indescribable: you will have to visit for yourself to understand the fascination behind this Museum-hotel you are stepping in, that guests are able not only to touch but even to sleep and live in! We strongly recommend to book directly by calling the hotel and arrange a visit of the art rooms first. Each room is unique and to be discovered, we loved ours (we chose the Nest) also for the view and the light (stunning at Sunrise). The location allows you to immerse yourselves even deeper in the art-tasting experience by accessing Fiumara d’arte hills walking through contemporary Art pieces all around. We will definitely return! Gianfranco M, Direttore generale at Museo Albergo d'Arte Contemporanea Atelier Sul Mare, responded to this review Dear Viviviti, how great is to receive a compliment from out guest. Our mission is to transmit passion for art through an emotional experience, and I think we have succeeded. It’s was the artist/patron Antonio Presti goal to create an emotional place different than anywhere else. Something our guests have never seen before. With the involvement of international artists I believe we have done just that. I'm happy that we were able to provide you a favorite art room, The Nest by Paolo Icaro. Your review clearly explains your emotion, your satisfaction and enjoyment. Please do visit us again, summer is the ideal time for stay at the beach or simply enjoying being outside in this wonderful land. All the best to you and your family.Gianfranco MolinoArt DirectorFiumara d'Arte Foundation/Museum-Hotel Atelier sul Mare

    Exceptional masterpiece

    rating21 Mar 2019

Don't imagine a proper hotel with all impeccable services. It's an experience of art, every rooms have been made by generous artists from all over the world.Presti, who had imagined all this, will welcome you before a visit, yes, because it's possible to have a look to the others rooms if they're empty. A guide will tell you about each room and therefore artist.Unfortunately, the area around is not very well maintained so I suggest you to take a look to the others sculptures disseminate in the aerea following the signposting on the road. Gianfranco M, Direttore generale at Museo Albergo d'Arte Contemporanea Atelier Sul Mare, responded to this review Dear Manuela, thank you so much for your kind review. I'm very glad that you have had a comfortable stay at Museum-hotel Atelier sul Mare and thanks for the compliment to the master of art Antonio Presti, the mastermind of this whole thing. I promise you that I'll extend your compliments to him. Thank you also for your comments about the museum-hotel experience. It expresses your deep sensitivity towards art. I hope that we will be able to welcome you back to Atelier sul Mare. My best regards,Gianfranco MolinoArt DirectorFiumara d'Arte Foundation/Museum-Hotel Atelier sul Mare
