    My husband and I are blown away by the level of care and service at Porta di Castro. The breakfast here every morning is great (it’s impossible to leave here hungry) and they were so helpful with everything we asked about. The hotel is located near several attractions here in Palermo, which is helpful when walking everywhere. It really is a must stay! We would come back to stay here if our future journeys bring us back to Palermo. Just, wow!

    Excellent one night stay in this centrally located hotel. What made it a 5 star hotel was the staff who were all exceptional. They provided an outstanding level of service. From the welcome drink and snacks to the assistance with a parking ticket. The hotel is as previous guests have said is quirky and that adds to its charm. The breakfast was plentiful and all table services. Loved the pastries.

    Our holiday booking was made from the details and photos noted under the Porta di. Castro hotel & spa website which was described as a boutique hotel.We ended up in an apartment which was actually several streets away with no access to the hotel or its facilities i.e pool ,spa etc ( except we could pay for breakfast) . I probably should have read the small print more carefully but feel that i was mislead by false advertising. If the apartment was advertised entirely seperately which it should have been I would not have booked it as it was basic and not boutique.Also there was no note of the additional cost of tourist tax which i was not aware of on any of the invoicing or cost information provided.

    The hotel is located in a very convenient location for walking around Palermo, with very helpful staff. The reason for lower rating is that it didn’t meet our expectations. We were looking for boutique luxury and we got shabby, slightly unclean and in parts a smelly hotel that felt neglected. While the pool area was quirky, you have to cross a street to get there and the cleanliness was again not there.One of the beds was missing a duvet, we had limited towels and toiletries were scarce and not of good quality. I think it’s important to put this into the context of Palermo though as I feel that this level might be representative of what very nice hotels look like in Palermo (albeit I don’t have any personal experiences to back that up, just observations during a city break). Overall we had a lovely few days in Palermo and we adjusted our stay towards more exploring than relaxing by the pool / at the hotel - great break regardless!

    If you are driving a car [why would you do that here?] You will find this place hard to get to. But once here, the location is a short walk from the main tourist areas. Reception speak very good English and are helpful booking restaurants. Breakfast above average
