    Just got back from amazing Sicily and hotel Vello D’oro Taormina. Very good value for money right in the middle of everything. Super friendly staff, everything was taken care of and clean in this personal ”arts & crafts” hotel. All rooms are different size and shape, but if you book a room with sea view it’s really worth it. Unfortunately the rooftop terrace was closed during my stay, but I had an incredible view from my own balcony!     Convenient, characterful and comfortable

    We stayed here for 4 nights in Oct 25 enjoyed the hotel immensely. It is an older style to be sure but very clean, loaded with Italian character. Our (budget) room was very large and had a nice balcony overlooking a variety of lovely fruit trees and flowers as well as a glimpse of the sea. Some of the more expensive rooms have balcony's with a full sea view . The bed was big (king size which can be hard to get in Italy) and comfy so we slept extremely well. It is full of quirky art works in literally every corner which give it a wonderful character. It has a fantastic roof top bar with views over the town and sea with drinks at a great price for Taormina. The reception staff were welcoming and helpful. It was also great value compared to other options in Taormina which can be very expensive and we couldn't have asked for a more convenient location - just a 3 mins walk to the centre of the main street. This is a 'poor man's White Lotus' option - no need to pay fancy prices to get location and a view !     Apart from location everything is poor. Building stinks, breakfasts shocking, service poor.not worth it..avoid and book proper hotel Leonardo Cuscona, Proprietario at Vello D'Oro Hotel, responded to this review Hi, we're sorry you weren't happy. We'll try to improve.

    Second visit. We love the location, decor and friendly staff. It was perfect. Alfredo, Giuseppe and Simone were professional, helpful and friendly. Breakfast first class.
