    One week in Sicily

Clean hotel and rooms , friendly staff. Food edible but basic, best meal was breakfast, fresh patisserie . Easyjet advertised local spirits, but the staff only gave wine and beer until a rep from a different tour operator spoke to them! Relax on level 3 watching Mount Etna puffing off sulpur every day.Piano singer was the only entertainment nightly, except for the traditional night when 3 singer/musicians sang.Best meals were in the local cafes and restaurants, but not nearby.Standard short taxi €15 and if you miss the hotel bus €20 for a short drive from town. Walking to town 25-30 minutes. Local buses from the bus terminal €1.90 (as the dont run often outside the hotel) to and from town and taormina and Castlemole. Don't pay €25 for the hop on and off bus, it doesn't travel that often and the local buses do the same route. The local train station Alcantara is a 20 minute walk up the hill but no path, or catch the bus to Taormina station, trains are cheap to Messina or Catania and as far away as syracuse and Oritiga, they are on time and clean. Boat trip in the town €35 for 2 hours along the coast is worth seeing the coast. The beach is volcanic and pebble.Sicily is a beautiful island, with lots of history, culture, from Greeks, Moors, Romans, Spanish, architecture everywhere. The food is tasty Aranchini Canoli and gelato are lush. Don't come to Sicily expecting disco nights and loud bars with music, come for the slow pace of life breathe in the atmosphere!

    A charming hotel

    rating14 Apr 2026

A lovely hotel, full of character with helpful and friendly staff. Our room was spacious and comfortable and the hotel honoured my request for a walk in shower. The room was cleaned to a good standard. The dining room was large but coped well with the numbers, food was excellent with a wide choice but food was very local -not a place for the meat and two veg brigade! It was however often not hot enough. An added bonus was freshly squeezed orange juice at breakfast time.Local drinks were excellent with, branded and extremely generous measures! As I love Aperol, Bellinis and amaretto it was ideal but not so good if you like a G & T as this was chargeable.Pool area was beautiful with lots of loungers but pool was very cold! The shuttle to Giardini worked well and was very reliable and there is a public bus stop right outside the hotel with buses into zTaormina.Stunning views of mount Etna.BUT Hotel used. by school parties who although they are pretty well behaved decimate the buffet when they descend on it!However we would definitely visit again

    Disappointing

Sicily is stunning Sadly this hotel was awful Great if you like a Benidorm atmosphere Food beyond disappointing - we ate out Rooms small no balcony Staff unfriendly Entertainment best avoided A shame such a visually lovely hotel but beyond the doors … not for me Glad it was large enough to find quiet nooks Based on this hotel I received a sizeable refund
