Wish I could score this ZERO

    rating31 May 2026

I came here for a quiet stay as I am currently being treated for breast cancer. I needed peace and quiet somewhere beautiful. What I have got is 1, cold showers- no hot water at all for two days now. The shower is a nozzle over a bath with a shower curtain! And they say this is 4* yet it doesn’t even reach a 3*2. A lovely balcony with great views that we can’t use because of the loud music being played by adjacent rooms.3. The cooking experience we were looking forward to doesn’t seem to exist. We asked about it and no response.4. A wedding took over all the grounds yesterday so no loungers and pool unusable5 apparently there is another party all day tomorrow so the hotel will be unusable again6. Ate in the restaurant tonight but came away having had no food as the veal salad contains no veal at all7. Breakfasts are terrible. A few croissants and some fruit salad and if you’re lucky a slice of an omelette but it will have gone coldWe will be moving tomorrow and will be expecting a refund

A little slice of heaven in the Sicilian Hills

    rating11 Aug 2025

Currently in our second week in this absolute gem of a find. We are normally more into city or town holidays and not keen to stay in such a remote spot. However totally converted. We drove from Palermo Airport to villa Dafne through some beautiful Sicilian countryside. The sun was just setting and the views and the peace instantly relaxed us after a days travelling from Ayrshire in Scotland to Sicily. Check in was a breeze and the lovely young lady on reception, I’m sorry I’m terrible with names, gave us a thorough orientation of the resort and our room, she was so bubbly and friendly. The room is absolutely gorgeous, we are staying in room 6A, so rustic you feel as if you are living in a lovely little Italian house. Gorgeous beams on the ceiling and plenty of storage. Bonus is a big fridge for husbands beer and wine! We had booked breakfast and evening meal. We had the set menu and the food is so fresh and varied. Most of it comes from the onsite farm and showcases local foods and delicacies. The waiting staff are friendly and efficient and courses come out quickly. They all work so hard and it’s been very busy but food always came out quickly and warm. I’m not keen on vegetables but my husband is in his element trying all sorts of new dishes. I’ve enjoyed the various pasta and meat dishes, especially the ones from the grill. Breakfast is varied and always well stocked. There is a continental feel and some hot eggs, yoghurts, cereals, pastries, fruit, meats and juices and smoothies. Something for everyone. Coffee is made on request by the staff and always piping hot.Housekeeping are efficient and quick and the room is tended to daily, minimal disruption to your stay and always with a smile and friendly good morning. They quietly get on with their day. The whole place is spotless and clean, kudos to the housekeeping. The swimming pool is welcome on the hot days with plenty of sun loungers.. lying reading a book in the sunshine surrounded with beautiful peaceful countryside is a joy. Love love love our balcony. Listening to the farm sounds is brilliant, distant dogs barking, sheep and cockerels just add to the charm. We’ve explored the local area and far afield. Alia is just so gorgeous and friendly with a wee market on a Monday. We have spent a few nights away in Catania and Melazzo and it’s a bonus to come”back home” to Villa Dafne and the peace and quiet. We go back home next Monday and I’m so going to miss this little slice of heaven. Thank you so much to Team Villa Dafne for making our holiday the relaxing and magical time we both so needed. Love Lena and Davie Elliott x

An absolute gem of a place. Staff, facilities and pool were all excellent, the food consistently outstanding!.

Where to begin?. We chose this holiday as a last minute, let's get away, we desperately need a break, on Lastminute.com. We'd never looked at Sicily before, but took the plunge when we saw some of the reviews of Villa Dafne. Oh boy....did we ever land on our feet. What a place!.Let's start with the staff. From the moment we made ourselves known at the front desk, it was brilliant. Everyone was polite, interested and cheerful and took time to say hello. From the receptionists, to the waiting staff, to the workers who swept the compound every day, every single person was absolutely lovely. Nothing was too much trouble (including my terrible Italian, which was borne with much humorous stoicism) and I always felt welcome. What an absolute breath of fresh air. The actual Villa Dafne itself.Immaculate is the best description I can give it. Every...single...day it was immaculate. That's not easy to achieve, but I was never truly aware of any hustle or bustle. It just seemed to "happen". Now I know how hard this is to accomplish (I've worked in hotels and restaurants before) and to do it so well and so quietly takes some doing, but this is the level of detail and hard work that all staff demonstrate. Fantastic. The accommodation surrounds the central dining and breakfast area. I've stuck some photos up. The interior is lovely, and a wonderful, place to both breakfast and enjoy an evening meal. The pool is one of the best I've ever seen. Brilliant location and extremely well maintained and looked after. The sun lounging equipment is great. Our room. We stayed in 2A which I suspect is a family room with a double bed, ground floor, and two singles which are on the cute mezzanine level. The large double bed was one of the most comfortable I've ever slept in and the room is also equipped with a fridge and air conditioner. Fab!. As if that wasn't enough the double doors opposite the bed open onto a personal balcony with two comfy chairs, a table, and an amazing view and a peaceful breeze to help you sip your ice cold beer as you watch the evening gently settle in. Showering was easy in the cubicle and the bathroom facilities were basic but extremely comfortable. Our room was tidied and cleaned every day by lovely staff who were simply wonderful and were hugely adept at doing so without disturbing us. Now that's a real skill!.The food.OMG. The food. I have never stayed in any hotel where I have so consistently eaten such amazing and delicious food. We tried many of the different dishes on the menu and we were never disappointed by anything. Not once. That level of consistency is incredibly hard to achieve but Villa Dafne and her chefs made it look effortless. I genuinely had the best pork I've ever eaten there. Pork Shank with twice cooked homemade chunky chips. Stunning. It seems unfair to single out the pork as all of the other dishes were just as good. What a holiday. We ate at the restaurant every night and enjoyed the homemade white and red wines which accompanied the food perfectly. Also, once we'd eaten we discovered the joy of Villa Dafne's homemade Limoncello as an end of meal digestive. Sublime.Nearly all of the food comes from the farm owned and run by the family who own and run Villa Dafne, and you can taste it. Wonderful. The cheeses, the meats, the sauces, all were ridiculously good.Other aspects of our holiday at Villa Dafne. The nearby local town of Alia offers supermarkets and helpful locals who make sure you're looked after. There's a train station, with free parking, fifteen minutes away (Roccapalumba-Alia) that lets you access Palermo, Imerese and Agrigento incredibly easily as tickets can be bought cheaply from station machines. You can also get to Cefalu if you change at Imerese.Villa Dafne's location meant that we could drive to Mount Etna and back in a day (a long day, but we still did it and were home for dinner by 18:30).I realise that this is a fairly long and rambling account of my time at Villa Dafne, and for that I'm not going to apologise. Villa Dafne deserves huge amounts of kudos, success and recognition for what it is, for what it does, and for what it gives to it's customers.Best holiday I've had in decades. Thank you soooooooo much folks.Like Arnie said, "'ll be back".Bet your bottom dollar on it. giuseppe mascarella, Proprietario at Agriturismo Villa Dafne, responded to this review Dear Mrs & Mr. Patterson,Thank you so much for taking the time to share such a heartfelt, detailed, and thoughtful review of your recent stay at Villa Dafne. It was truly a pleasure to read your words, and we are incredibly grateful for the kind sentiments you’ve expressed throughout. We are delighted to know that what began as a spontaneous last-minute getaway turned into a holiday experience that exceeded your expectations. It is always rewarding to hear that our guests feel they’ve “landed on their feet” when choosing Villa Dafne — we strive to create an atmosphere that feels both welcoming and special from the moment you arrive.Your compliments regarding our staff mean a great deal to us. Hospitality is at the very core of what we do, and we are proud to know that every team member — from reception to housekeeping to our grounds staff — contributed to making your stay so memorable. It’s especially heartwarming to hear that the language barrier was met with warmth and humor, and that you always felt truly welcome during your time with us.We are also truly honored by your praise of the cleanliness and maintenance of the villa. Keeping the property immaculate without disrupting our guests is something we take great pride in, and your recognition of that quiet dedication is deeply appreciated — especially coming from someone with professional experience in hospitality. We’re thrilled that you enjoyed your room and its features, from the comfort of the bed to the thoughtful layout and the private balcony with a view. It sounds like you were able to enjoy both relaxation and comfort throughout your stay — exactly what we hope for each guest. And then… the food! Your kind words about our cuisine and wines brought smiles to the entire kitchen and service team. The fact that you dined with us each evening and consistently found every dish exceptional is one of the highest compliments we could receive. We are equally proud of the farm-to-table philosophy that guides our menu, and it brings us great joy to know that you could truly taste the difference in the freshness and quality of our ingredients. We’re also glad to hear you had the opportunity to explore some of the surrounding area — including Alia, Palermo, Agrigento, and even Mount Etna — all while returning in time for dinner! Villa Dafne’s location can be a great base for those wishing to discover Sicily’s natural and cultural beauty, and we're happy it worked so well for you.Lastly, your closing words mean more than you know. To be described as the “best holiday in decades” is not only touching, but deeply motivating for all of us here. It reminds us why we do what we do, and encourages us to continue offering our very best every single day.We would be absolutely delighted to welcome you back in the future. Until then, please accept our warmest regards and heartfelt thanks.Sincerely,The Team of Villa Dafne

    Disappointed

    rating17 Jun 2025

The reviews on this site aren’t representative of my experience. We booked a superior room only to be downgraded on arrival because the previous guests decided to stay on. At least that’s what we were told. The room we were given was tired, basic and very rustic. It had an ancient air con unit wholly inadequate to the task of keeping us cool at night. No compensation was offered Opening the windows to the tiny balcony meant we were serenaded by local dogs barking all night long.We complained but were told the air con was working perfectly We stayed half-board. The food was ok but uninspiring. It was always late ( up to an hour) and we watched while visiting locals were served first. It seemed we were taken for granted and it made us feel unwelcome.Fed up, we left early and booked into another hotel
