    “€50 penalty for ordering pizza for my 5-year-old — policy never disclosed”

    This hotel is a total scam. This was happened in July 2025. They stated that no outside food or drinks were allowed on the premises, however nobody informed us the food policy when checked in. One night, staff saw us bringing a pizza back to our room but said nothing at the time. The next morning, they suddenly demanded a €50 fine. We tried to reason with them, but they insisted on charging my credit card anyway.This was an unfair dispute and an unreasonable charge. Luckily, my credit card company eventually reversed the €50 charge. Please think twice before booking this hotel.

    A quintessential Italian villa

    Everything you think of when you think of an Italian villa. The manicured gardens, the Tuscan views, the outside sitting areas, and the pool. This place is beautiful with staff members available to meet your every need and the food is amazing; authentic Italian cuisine. The breakfast is fabulous and the drinks available in the bar or at the pool are plentiful. A taxi ride is short into Siena where you can explore and shop. The hotel staff will help make arrangements for any needed transportation or excursion into the surrounding areas.

    Lovely old palazzo in a beautiful garden just outside Siena

    I LOVED Villa Scacciapensieri! We spent four nights there in late June. It was exactly what I was looking for. We were in Siena during a heat wave (90 during the day) so after each day of walking through another hilltop city, I wanted to be in the country surrounded by gardens with a swimming pool and sleep in an old palazzo. It was all of that. It was peaceful, quiet and cool at night. It was lovely eating dinner outside. The food was very good and the staff were very attentive. I had been concerned from reading some of the reviews, but I think some people have unrealistic expectations about staying in an old palazzo. Villa Scacciapensieri has so much charm and a lovely staff and a beautiful environment. The air conditioning worked, but it would not be possible to get the room to 68 degrees. We added a fan and were very comfortable sleeping.

    Gardens beautiful. Staff very friendly. Special mention to Roger and Mildred. The room was clean and AC worked well. Its location and adjacent bus stop were also huge plus points.The breakfast was very disappointing - especially for a Coeliac. The food generally was uninspiring. For all this, it is somewhere we would return to as its tranquil and almost retro vibe was refreshing and does make for a great base to explore Siena.

    Well, on Sunday (22-23 March), I forgot a jacket and I'm waiting until today (Wednesday) for them to tell me. The hotel has a very strong smell of cigarettes in the lobby. The breakfast is good. The service is good too. The room (they said gave us an upgrade) was large. However, the shower stall was small, the water fell on the floor and could cause an accident. The hair dryer didn’t work.
