    Never Again

    rating19 Aug 2025

On arrival at Casale Antonietta we were greeted by a polite young lady who worked on reception. The children were hot and bothered but excited about jumping into the swimming pool at the property. We asked where the pool was located, having passed the sign for it on entering the property. The lady apologised and explained that they don’t have a pool and haven’t had one for a while. We explained that when we booked the property back in March it was clearly advertised as having a pool and since our booking we had not been contacted by either booking.com or the property to inform us of this significant change. We checked into our rooms and found that one room had a colony of ants also wanting to stay in the room. This room was grim generally, a pokey attic room with limited light. A rude young man went up to deal with the problem. An hour later, the ants were still in residence, meaning that we now had the hot and bothered teenagers residing in our room with us and the broken air conditioning. I politely explained to the young man that there was still a problem, he snapped back at me that he had not finished in there, when actually he had clearly informed my 18 year old daughter that he had. The other rooms were okay, one the shower kept falling down, the toilet flush was broken and the air conditioning sounded like you were sleeping on a campsite during a gale. We didn’t mention these issues to the hotel for fear of another run in with the nasty young man on reception, plus to us they weren’t massive issues. We contacted booking.com whilst staying at the property to raise our annoyance about the pool. We had only chosen the property for this reason and paid over the odds for it. Whilst sitting in the garden of the property one evening, the nasty young man approached and verbally attacked us over the issue, refusing to listen to our perspective. He then shot himself in the foot by informing us that normally the guests can use the swimming pool at the property next door, but due to it being fully booked this wasn’t possible for us this week. I was furious, we had been attacked verbally for an issue we raised with booking.com not the hotel, this was done in the presence of our children by a man when neither of our husbands were present. Then he tells us that guests usually have access to a pool. The arrogance and rudeness of the young man were unbelievable. We were left feeling extremely vulnerable as the property was isolated.Despite all of this the remaining staff at the property were a delight, the lady on reception, the waitress in the restaurant, the young man from Madagascar and the cleaning staff were all a credit to the hotel. The restaurant was lovely and the food was delicious. Breakfast was good too. The gardens are lovely and the views from the hotel stunning. The place has a great deal of potential but when they deal with paying guests with lies and arrogance it was no surprise that the hotel was practically void of guests.

    Be Warned…No Swimming Pool!

    rating18 Aug 2025

This is a balanced review of our time here. We are a family of 8 (4 adults, 3 teenagers & a child) we stayed 4 nights. Generally the staff were lovely and very friendly (reception lady, restaurant manager, young guy from Madagascar & the cleaning staff particularly). The food in the restaurant was delicious and reasonably priced and the service was exceptional. The views were also lovely and breakfast was acceptable. Location was a bit tricky as we were travelling without a car but once we had worked out public transport and shuttle service from nearby campsite this was okay. It would have been helpful to have that information upon arrival especially given that some of our party have health issues which affect mobility. When we booked this accommodation back in March 2025 it was clearly advertised (on the accommodation website, on booking.com who we booked through & on Trip advisor) that the hotel had a swimming pool, this being a vital feature for us given that we were travelling with teenagers & children in August. Upon arrival we were informed that there was in fact no pool (despite there being signs for a swimming pool at the property). This was a problem for us and had a massive impact on our time here given that we were a steep walk & bus ride away from the sea. We couldn’t hide our disappointment when checking in as we had planned to relax at the property that afternoon following a morning in Pompeii. We immediately raised the matter with booking.com who subsequently informed the hotel. A member of staff approached me and my sister whilst the children were present but our husbands were not. He was rude, argumentative and unhelpful. Totally pointless and unnecessary interaction. He refused to accept our issue or disappointment in any way (despite acknowledging that the hotel normally offers disappointed / disgruntled guests complimentary use of the pool in a neighbouring hotel but due to a national holiday this was unavailable to us). Clearly this is a problem for other guests also. The hotel website has since been changed to state the pool is not available for the season of 2025. This was not the case when we booked and we were not informed in advance or given the option to change our accommodation. Overall the hotel was nice & peaceful but the lack of pool & feeling mislead without any acknowledgement whatsoever left us feeling frustrated, deeply disappointed and, after our interaction, quite vulnerable.

Not bad for a 3 star hotel.

    rating09 Oct 2024

I've read most of the reviews since getting back home, I can see both sides of people's reviews, for a 3 star hotel it was ok, 89 euros a night for 2 people with breakfast which was ok by the way, is very good I think. Everyone there were friendly, meals and alcohol was very reasonable. If I can say one thing to the owners, if you ever think about changing the beds, invest in better mattresses, your beds are too uncomfortable to have a good night's sleep but I suppose we were up early to go exploring. A comfortable bed is essential. Room was very clean except a few ants in the shower but a quick rinse got rid of them, but again I never expected 5 star, the place is an old castle on a hill surrounded by countryside at the end of the day. TV was on the small side but was watchable. The only thing we were not happy with was the pool was closed our entire stay and reading the reviews it doesn't seem to be open very often. The one thing we mainly do is sit round a pool and is one of the reasons we booked here but were not told about the pool situation because we would have changed our minds. But if the pool doesn't bother you and as long as you are not in a wheelchair or unsteady on your feet as it's on a really steep hill, even from the car park to the actual hotel is really steep. Then go for it because I've stayed in worse 3 star hotels. One last thing, as a business owner and manager of my own business, I would never attack the people who raised concerns or written a review on TripAdvisor as they have a right to do so, it's actually quite unprofessional.Take it as constructive criticism, it helps with the changes you may need to change or changes you may not even be aware of. If I would of read your comments before we booked I would not have booked, fortunately the wife booked the hotel and she never reads reviews 😁.I did have photos but my phone will not upload to TripAdvisor.

    Unforgettably friendly quality

    rating10 Sept 2024

The hotel and restaurant were beautiful with warmth and friendly hospitality. The food had the home made real Italian experience. Our room had everything you needed with thoughtful touches. Our stay was too short and I hope we can return to enjoy this wonderful place

Lovely hotel, great views and really nice staff

    rating18 Aug 2024

Casale Antonietta is a lovely 3 star hotel on the outskirts of Sorrento. There is 15 rooms and the two rooms we had were quite small, but it is a converted castle, so to be expected. The rooms were clean and to a good standard. Well the staff were really friendly and chatty and Maria on reception is really helpful. I note previous comments that say how step it is to get there, but that is the hotel and Sorrento. Please don’t expect a central hotel on the flat, as it is not! Sorrento as a place is hilly! The hotel is on a hill outside Sorrento. It has lovely views from the gardens across the bay.The pool was broken whilst we were there, but the hotel arranged with another hotel and took us there and collected us, you cannot ask for more to be honest. The onsite restaurant and pizza oven was great and reasonably priced too for food and drink too.To get to Sorrento there is a path from the hotel, downhill on the way! You can get the bus or an air conditioned mini bus from the campsite by the bus stop into Sorrento for €2 each, each way, which is approximately every 30 mins. The staff at the hotel and restaurant are great. I would highly recommend this hotel.
