Location

The hotel is ideal for long stays and interesting excursions to Capri (25 min), Naples (an hour’s drive), Pompeii (35 min), Mount Vesuvius and the Amalfi coast (30 min). Sorrento is a lovely town located on a ‘tufa’ bank facing the Gulf of Naples and is home to a diverse variety of vegetation, such as citrus groves, olive trees, palm trees and other subtropical plants. The hotel is set on the slopes of a green hill and is surrounded by a 50,000 m² garden of lemon trees, orange trees and olive trees. This hotel is just a couple of minutes’ walk from the centre of Sorrento, and it expands out onto several levels with panoramic terraces facing the charming Gulf of Naples and Mount Vesuvius. The beach is just 500 m from the hotel and guests will find restaurants, shops, bar and nightlife within 5 minutes’ walk. There are links to the public transport network in the immediate vicinity and the bus and train station are roughly 500 m away. Naples - Capodichino airport is roughly 45 km from the hotel.

Facility

2 junior suites, 2 suites, 4 single rooms and 178 double rooms are located on 6 storeys and can be reached by lift. Multilingual staff (English, German, French) at the reception desk in the lobby are ready to assist you with check-in and check-out. Amenities include a cloakroom, baggage storage service, safe and currency exchange service. Wireless internet access (for a fee) allows guests to stay connected while on holiday. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. There are a number of shops as well. The grounds of the hotel feature a playground and a lovely garden. Additional amenities include a TV room, a playroom and a library. Guests arriving by car can park their vehicles in the garage (for a fee) or in the car park (for a fee). Active guests who wish to explore the surrounding area by bike will appreciate the bicycle hire service. Bicycle storage is also available. Rooms

Air conditioning and individually adjustable heating ensure that rooms maintain comfortable temperatures. In most units, guests can enjoy a view of the sea from a balcony or terrace. Rooms have a double bed, a queen-size bed or a king-size bed. Extra beds can be requested. A safe, a minibar and a desk are also available. Additional features include a mini fridge and a tea/coffee station. A direct dial telephone, a television with satellite/cable channels, a radio and WiFi (no extra charge) provide all the essentials for a comfortable holiday. Bathrooms are equipped with a shower, a bathtub and a bidet. A hairdryer and a telephone are available for daily use. For extra comfort in the bathrooms, guests are offered cosmetic products. Wheelchair-friendly rooms can be booked. The hotel has 186 non-smoking rooms and smoking rooms.

Sport

On hot days, guests can go for a refreshing swim in one of 5 pools. There is also a special swimming area for little ones. A hot tub invites guests to soothe their muscles, and a poolside snack bar will take care of any hungry bellies. A terrace with sun loungers and parasols is available. For guests who wish to keep active, cycling/mountain biking and fishing are available. Water sports enthusiasts can enjoy canoeing, snorkelling and diving. The fitness rooms are perfect for a comprehensive workout. Guests of all ages have the opportunity to enjoy an entertainment programme.

Meals

Various dining options are available, including a dining room, a breakfast room, a café and a bar. The restaurant has air conditioning and high chairs for children. Catering options include bed and breakfast and half board. A continental breakfast buffet guarantees a great start to the day. At lunch and dinner, guests can choose between a buffet, à la carte and a set menu. Diet meals and children's meals can be prepared on request. The hotel also offers special catering options.

    Great old charm hotel with nice spaces, amazing views and pleasant staff. Probably a bit overpriced but I guess that’s Sorrento. Great location.

    We’ve just had our second stay at this hotel with our friends and it really doesn’t disappoint at all.. From check in to check out the whole experience was just lovely and thank you for the complimentary bottle of fizz for my wife’s birthday… The views from this hotel are stunning of Naples bay from the breakfast room or swimming pools or garden terrace..     We stayed in Grand hotel sorrento for three nights during our Italy trip. The hotel is located centrally in Sorrento, with the main Sorrento town and other attractions at a walking distance. The views of the sea and Mount Vesuvius from the hotel are beautiful. Our room had a balcony which was facing the sea with the views, which added to the experience. The cleanliness in the hotel is very good and the hotel overall is very peaceful. Service is good and the staff overall is very helpful. The best part of the hotel is the waterfall pool. Coming to the rooms, they are little small for the value which is charged. The washrooms are good but designed in a way that water splashes everytime one takes a shower. Apart from these two things, everything is good. Overall, nice hotel, but little expensive for the room size.     The best place to spend a special birthday

    I have always wanted to visit Sorrento and stay at the Grand Hotel Capodimonte after hearing about my parents stay back in the 1980s, so what better place to spend my 40th birthday. The hotel was fabulous in every way, situated just a short stroll in to the centre of Sorrento with stunning views over the Bay of Naples. The restaurant where they serve breakfast looked out over Vesuvius. The rooms were spotlessly clean and the bed extremely comfy. Staff were all helpful and friendly. There is not a thing I would change about our holiday and will definitely be back to Sorrento and the Grand Hotel Capodimonte in the future.     Good hotel, very clean, good value for the price. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. The pluses are definitely the views and the amazing pool. The negative is the food, especially restaurant le Querce where breakfast is served. Bellevue was better. Helpful tip: the rooms with garden views are in fact view of a wall for floors 5 and under. Obtaining the partial ocean view is really worth it. The rooms are much brighter.
