Better than most 4 star hotels in Sorrento

    rating26 Apr 2026

We recently stayed at Hotel Rivage after needing to find an alternative hotel at short notice. Long story short we booked a 4 star hotel that was more like a 2 star!My advice…..don’t look at the stars of a hotel! Our 4 star was grubby, rough around the edges and we couldn’t stand there a minute longer.Hotel rivage was the complete opposite! Spotlessly clean, modern, beautiful views and the best friendly staff. The food is great overlooking the bay of Naples. The pool and rooftop terrace is very nice to relax in (it’s next to a busy road though so be prepared for some traffic noise)We are so glad we found this hotel after our 4 star disaster!Don’t be put off by the 3 star tag…..it’s much nicer than majority of the 4 stars we seen in Sorrento

    Excellent Location

    rating13 Oct 2025

Stayed here for 8 nights... Excellent location minutes walk from restaurants and shops. Beautiful views from our bedroom and breakfast room. Friendly and such helpful staff throughout our stay. Bedroom on the 2nd floor was so spacious and clean. Two complaints.... One was there was a constant sewerage smell, mostly coming from the sink and two from early morning it was very noisy, as if people moving furniture above us, cant imagine it was cleaners from 6am? Pool area was so nice and quiet, lovely to chill and relax. Overall we would definitely recommend here and staff couldn't do enough...

    Great location

    rating08 Oct 2025

The location of this hotel is perfect - walkable distance to shopping and restaurants, marina, port and train station. The dining room has a beautiful view of the ocean as well. The staff was friendly but be aware the English of the staff for breakfast can be a tad limited. The breakfast buffet was tons of pastries and toast/bagels/croissants, a few fruit options, cereal (with very warm milk) and cold quiche. The best cooked breakfast option was the omelette or the toast with ham and cheese, the eggs and bacon were very undercooked. Overall for a free included breakfast we enjoyed it every morning. You do only get one coffee though which my husband was not thrilled with. The restaurant for dinner however was outstanding and if you're staying here definitely make a point to eat here one night. Our room was fine however the ceiling is paper thin and not sound proofed at all. It sounded like someone was moving heavy furniture all night long above us. Maybe add some sound proofing to the ceiling as we did not need the super high ceilings and would have preferred the quiet at night. The mattress was an old spring mattress and was very uncomfortable. That would be my main suggestion would be a major overhaul to the beds. Definitely request a 3rd floor room, we had family stay in the lower rooms and they were not happy at all with their accommodations. The view from the 3rd floor garden room we had wasn't bad, with views of the cliff and trees but the lower down you go the worse the view gets. A 3rd floor sea view room would be the most ideal room to stay in. The pool was small and very cold but we did not use it so that didn't really matter to us. The grocery store across the street had great options if you don't want to have to eat out every night.

From the start of our stay (5 nights) until the morning we left, we were treated to excellent and friendly service. I would particularly like to thank the team that were servicing Breakfast each morning. Raffaellie was an amazing chef cooking eggs and bacon for my partner and I each morning. He was also very funny.Grazie!

    Wonderful stay

    rating13 Sept 2025

A really nice hotel. Staff are friendly. We had a nice view down the beautiful valley to Marina Grande with hotels on the hillside and limestone cliffs. Breakfast was ok with limited cooked options which you order, a coffee, sweet stuff and cereal. Seemed to be a lot of brits there but all were well behaved. You step out the front door and within 100m you’re on the Corso Italia where everyone promenades esp at night….it’s awesome and for men I’d recommend an ironed short sleeved shirt and shorts or chinos to fit in with some very beautiful and glamorous people. We had a peaceful beautiful stay in this hotel which seems to date to the 1930s and with some remaining Art Deco touches. The rooms are tiled and large and cool. Youlll love this stylish but Unfussy place and be ready with your buongiornos and Grazie Mille in the mornings.
