About Forte Village – Hotel BouganvilleAbout Forte Village – Hotel Bouganville

Location

The resort is an oasis of peace and relaxation nestled in a splendid 25-hectare lush, tropical garden, thanks to the microclimate along this brief tract of coastline. The resort, shaded by tall pines, is protected from the cold winds of the North thanks to a chain of low mountains just up-country. Sardinia is called the pearl of the Mediterranean, but as well as being one of the most beautiful islands in the Mare Nostrum, it is one of the richest in history and tradition, in flavours and aromas. Guests may immerse themselves in the transparent blue of its waters, walk along the unspoilt sandy beaches and discover the traces of ancient civilisations from the Carthaginians to the Romans, or lose themselves in the inexhaustible richness of its cuisine. All this infinite beauty is encapsulated in the resort. This resort is located only a half hour’s drive from Cagliari Airport.

    Fantastic Resort

    rating30 May 2026

I read mixed reviews on here before travelling so I was ready to be underwhelmed but what we experienced was extremely positive. We got to the resort as it was opening for the season so to start with it was pretty quiet but got busier across the week. The room we had booked was spacious and clean. It was serviced everyday with clean towels, beds made and new water. The evening buffet restaurant was really good - it was situated outside, able to see the sea and a man playing the piano every night. It did not feel as frantic as often all inclusive buffets can and the food offer was broad. The cheese and meats counter was a hit with the adults as meats and cheeses were sliced for you and the ice cream counter a hit with everyone. Breakfast offer was extensive and perhaps a little more intense atmosphere but the views of the beach and sea made up for it. The beach and pools were clean and staffed. Certain times of the day did make finding a sun lounger difficult but 90% of the time there was no issue - mostly it was the usual thing of people holding on to sun loungers even though they’d gone for a 2h lunch etc The staff were great, the shops had everything you could need and the activities for the kids were extensive, we didn’t even get time to do them all. Drinks / activity costs- I would say they’re pretty standard costs for a hotel set up like this : 5 euros for a Coke, 7 euros for a beer, 10Euros a glass of wine. A pizza was 15 euros at the pizzeria. So not outrageous as long as you’ve budgeted for it. I would recommend this for anyone looking for a relaxed holiday where everything you need is there. Five-star prices, but sadly not a five-star experience

    rating28 May 2026

I always think it's fair to start with the positives. The grounds are beautifully maintained and the resort is kept exceptionally clean throughout. There is also an excellent range of activities for children, although it's worth noting that many of these come at an additional cost.Unfortunately, that's where the positives ended for us.The biggest disappointment was the service, particularly in the restaurants. For a resort with Forte Village's reputation and price tag, it was consistently poor. There often appeared to be a lack of organisation, with nobody taking ownership or seeming to know what was going on. At Sardo, we waited nearly two hours for our main course, and at Forte Grill we eventually walked out altogether. In the buffet restaurant, we left our table briefly to get food and returned to find another family seated there. The whole experience felt chaotic rather than relaxing. We came to Sardinia expecting excellent food and service, but sadly we experienced neither. Ironically, the best meal of our stay was in the pizzeria. Even Dune, for which we paid an additional supplement, was average at best.We also experienced a leak in our bathroom. Despite reporting it three times, it was never fixed during our stay. The resort kindly sent a fruit platter and half a bottle of champagne as an apology, but that wasn't really the issue. We simply wanted the leak repaired, particularly as the water on the floor created a slipping hazard for our children. The resort's QR ordering system was another source of frustration. On several occasions we ordered drinks through the app, only for them never to arrive. If a system like this is being promoted as a convenience, it needs to be properly monitored and supported. We knew before travelling that Forte Village would be expensive, but even so, the prices for drinks and extras felt excessive. High prices can be justified when accompanied by exceptional service and attention to detail; unfortunately, that wasn't our experience. What was perhaps most telling was that we spoke to several other families during our stay who shared many of the same frustrations. It left us feeling that perhaps the resort is relying too heavily on a reputation built years ago. I'm sure Forte Village was once one of the finest family resorts in Europe, but it feels as though it has lost its way.For comparison, we stayed at an Ikos resort last year and the difference in service was significant. Finally, after spending nearly an additional £2,000 on top of the cost of our holiday, we checked out without even being asked whether we had enjoyed our stay.Overall, while the facilities and grounds are impressive, the service, dining experience and value for money fell well below what we expected from a resort of this calibre.

    Write more good reviews

    rating09 Sept 2025

When was the last time you wrote a review post a good experience? Probably too long ago to remember. We're often quick to jump on the keyboard when it's been a bad experience and prior to this trip I paid too much attention to some of the negative remarks on here - how silly was I. From the moment we arrived we couldn't have been more impressed. The personal touches, the cleanliness, the facilitates for children, the campus itself, the range of restaurants.... it was a holiday that didn't require any effort, everything was very easy. The beach is huge, the facilitates are far from "tired" as someone else wrote on here and guess what, you're gonna get wasps outside from time to time. But they do everything to ensure a good stay. There's nothing that would be too big an ask. I was able to get milk every night for my baby, I got the cot bed when requested and the room was in the action but not too close to the main pavilion / noise which I really appreciated. Forte Village Resort, Guest Services / Front Office at Forte Village Resort – Bouganville, responded to this review Dear Victoria M.,thank you for taking the time to share such a thoughtful review of your recent stay at Forte Village. We are delighted to know that your holiday was seamless and enjoyable, and that our team’s care and attention helped make everything feel effortless for you and your family. Your kind words are truly rewarding for us, and we hope to welcome you back soon for another memorable experience.Warm regards,Forte Village Team
