  Lovely staff but a few hotel issues.

  We recently stayed at Hotel Flora for 4 nights.While there was some significant room issues, the staff were lovely and the hotel clean and comfortable. Also it’s in a great position for the ferries to the Borromean Islands.Unfortunately we faced serious bathroom issues our first evening. There was wet flooring in the bathroom, with water seeping up from the floor tiles. Also no running water from 7pm our first night, until we returned from a lovely day out on our 2nd day. The hotel kindly upgraded us after that first night, which we appreciated. However, we were later told that we would have to move back to our original room, even though the bathroom floor situation hadn’t been resolved, and probably wouldn’t be, until the Winter maintenance. Luckily, with the help of our TUI rep, the situation was resolved with us being able to stay in our upgraded room. The breakfast was very good, but unfortunately we only had 1 evening meal there; (which was very good), as their chef was unavailable for the rest of the week. So we were sent to the 5 star Hotel Villa e Palazzo Aminta,. This hotel was obviously completely different with fine dining, excellent waiter service, and we were made very welcome by all the staff including the hotel manager, until our FINAL night. Unfortunately the Maitre D who was different to our usual one was quite rude; making it very obvious that we weren’t particularly welcome as guests from another hotel.Overall, the frontline staff at Hotel Flora were good,but the combination of unresolved maintenance issues and a different evening dining experience; which I completely understand couldn’t be helped, made this short break completely different to what we were expecting.

  Fantastic views of Isola Bella and the lake

  Lovely weeks stay in Stresa. Beautiful place on the lake. Hotel had a fantastic view, specifically bought room with a great view. Nice breakfast and nice room. 15 minute walk into town but nice restaurant close and you can catch limited boats at the bottom of the hill 15 minutes away. Isola Bella and the local islands are fantastic and must be visited

  Great value hotel in Stresa

  Great value hotel, wonderful views of the lake and Isola Bella- if you’re on the right side. Decent sized rooms and excellent breakfast. Staff can’t do enough to assist they are fantastic and everything is very clean. It’s a 10 minute walk in to Stresa but it it’s a beautiful walk along the promenade. Next to a main road so make sure you go for the room upgrade and the swimming pool is great too.   Beautiful Stresa

  We returned to the Flora after a 3-year gap and were a bit concerned that it had been absorbed into a larger group. However right from day 1 these fears were unfounded. The same excellent friendly service putting customers first was still intact as were many of the staff, indeed one member of the team even used her own car to get us to a venue when we missed our scheduled transport. The cleanliness, pool and food in the hotel were also as good as before. We were on a half board tariff but unfortunately the Chef was taken ill (not food related) after 1 day, however this was not an issue as the Flora arranged for dinner at a sister hotel (Villa Aminta 5 Stars) including mini bus transfers, the food here was out of this world and an unexpected bonus, but gorgonzola ice cream, Pear with Mustard and candied vegitables for deserts were a step to far for us. Facilities in the Flora were brilliant great pool and bar, so all in all a great place to stay why its only registered a 3 stars is beyond me, thoroughly recommend the Flora and will return again.
