Real potential here — if the owners would fix what’s broken

Four nights in single room 46 at the end of July, using Stresa as a base for the Borromean Islands and a day trip to Milan.WHAT THIS HOTEL GETS RIGHTHousekeeping is genuinely good — fresh towels daily, a spotless bathroom, clean tiling and grouting with no signs of neglect. The bathroom is better than the price bracket promises: full bathtub, bidet, wall hairdryer, an opening window. Corridors are well kept, and the ground floor with its arches, tiled floors and old wooden furniture has real character. The private balcony faces a quiet garden with a cypress and Japanese maples.THE NEIGHBOURHOOD DOES SOME OF THE WORKIn fairness, part of what makes staying here pleasant has nothing to do with the hotel. The Lido di Carciano is straight across the road — you are there in thirty seconds. A swimming beach with loungers, parasols and a lifeguard, and a large outdoor pool set right at the water’s edge with the Alps and the far shore in front of you. The Carciano pier is next to it, with a terrace bar facing Isola Bella, and the island boats depart from the same spot.I am listing these because they genuinely affect the experience of staying in Carciano, not because they earn the hotel anything. They are separate businesses, and the rating below reflects the hotel alone.THE PROBLEM IS THAT NOBODY FINISHES THE JOBEverything above tells you the staff care. What is missing is investment from the owners, and it shows in exactly the places that matter most to a guest in July.

Staff here VERY good and helpfulThe hotel is in a wonderful position just outside the town centre, a 15 minute walk along the lake edge. Beautiful Room had a nice view Breakfast is very tasty and plenty to choose fromOverall very pleasant stay here!

Comfortable Week at Lido La Perla Nera Hotel

Really pleased with our choice here, its at the quieter end of Stresa yet just a pleasant stroll from the main shops and restaurants, etc.The location is convenient for boat trips from the nearby lido jetty, so no need to go to the other end of town.Staff were helpful and friendly and the breakfast (mainly cold buffet type) was a good start to the day.Our room on the top floor (there's a lift) was spotless, quiet and comfortable - plenty of storage, always hot water when needed, and firm but comfortable beds.The included AC was a boon. but there was no safe in the room, which would have been good.Also, tea/coffee making facilities would have been handy.Would definitely recommend.

Tired but friendly well situated modest hotel .

The hotel is well situated close to the lakeside and ferry services.Whilst some of the rooms have been modernised I stayed in a quite tiny old style room with fading carpet,dysfunctional shower and very small single bed.Storage facilities in the room were very limited.The common areas of the hotel are average.The staff are very friendly and especially the breakfast staff who were always friendly,engaging and full of good advice for the traveller.

Stayed at the Hotel Lido last week for 7 nights .What can I say, 3 star hotel with 5 star staff, from the cleaners to the guys that served us breakfast and the reception staff nothing was to much trouble. Brilliant location for catching the ferry boats to the islands and around the lake. Thank you for making our holiday so memorable. ???? Andy &Janet.
