Beautiful, peaceful stay

We stayed at Hotel Splendid in early Sept. The location and scenery are beautiful. Its an older, historic hotel which we found to be amazing. The rooms are spacious, clean and pretty. My one minor negative is that coffee isn't available til 7am so if you aren't an early-bird, that won't apply. Would love to go back again.

Very elegant hotel. Beautiful rooms. Had hair dryers in the room and a kettle to make tea. Pool is beautiful but very cold. Bar tenders were fun. Excellent areas outside to sit and visit

Jewelry Mishap

The Hotel Staff was excellent. I had a mishap where I left my diamond jewelry in the room and did not discover until checked out. Because we were on a tour bus, we could not turn around to go back to get it. Davide and Raquel helped navigate the return of my jewelry. As you can imagine, I was very emotional. They assured me that my jewelry was safely locked in the hotel safe, and they went above and beyond to assist me in getting it sent back to the United States. Thank you so much. I would definitely stay here again. The rooms were gorgeous, the grounds stunning.

Nice hotel and setting but not set up to conveniently for guests

The hotel is in a lovely setting and we had a great view of Lake Maggiore. The fixtures were nice if dated.The reasons I gave the hotel a mediocre score and would never return are1. We had a balcony but it was unusable for us because of the cigar and cigarette smoke from other rooms. All rooms have ashtrays on the balcony. Below us, the guest sat out and smoked cigars. 2. Not only do you have to put a room card in a slot by the door to have power, but it must be a room key and must be oriented just so. It took us a while to get it right. If the card is not in the slot the outlets don’t work. That means you can’t leave anything charging when you leave the room. Fortunately we had two keys and could leave one in the slot when we wanted to leave something charging.3. The bathtub with the shower was elevated, which made it hard for a short person to get into it. There was a bar to grip but it was loose!4. The closet was elevated and had those stupid hangars which are permanently attached to the bar with the actual hangars having little things to hook in. Again, difficult for a short person and hangars could only used in the closet, not, for example, to let something hang and dry on the balcony.5. No facial tissue 6. No coffee in room7. WiFi was painfully slow to the point where a short video would not play8. Insufficient wall outlets 9. No railing on stairs in stairwell
