  Splendid hotel. but beware of adjacent construction site

  We spent three nights in this excellent hotel,however our stay was tainted by the noise from the huge development site next door which we understand is owned by the hotel.Apparently the building works started in 2024 and we would imagine that it will last for another couple of years.There seems to be very little information about the work on the hotel’s website and only if you type in “building works’.This is extremely misleading and unfair to guests.We were given keys to our room and immediately returned to reception saying that the room was unacceptable due to the noise from the construction site.We had a frosty response from reception when we asked to be moved to a different room and asked to see a manager.We were told that there was no other room at the front available for our first night.The manager said that there was a possibility that a room at the front directly overlooking the lake may be available for our remaining two nights.We are pleased to report that we were moved,however the front rooms face the road and despite being double glazed can be noisy.On a positive note the hotel is very well appointed benefitting from a wonderful sky bar and small pool on the top floor and an outside pool located across the road adjacent to the lake.Breakfast was extremely good with a great choice with quality produce.We would stay again but only after the building works have been completed.The hotel should just come clean with their guests before they book explaining clearly the extent of the building works which start at 7.30am and finish at 6.30pm.You cannot use your balcony and the pool on the top floor suffers from constant noise.Forget having a quiet and restful time here.

  Chic, classy hotel with gracious rooms

  Excellent choice. Large clean rooms, super comfortable beds, spectacular terrace perfect for an evening glass of wine. Our room, 322 faced the lake and was away from the construction (we did not hear loud noises from the construction, they seemed to begin at an acceptable time). Beach club is so very chic and food there (casual) was excellent. Breakfast generous, tasty and efficient service. We loved the region and hope to go back and spend more time.   We paid to upgrade our two rooms only to find that they overlooked a huge construction site right next door with a peek view of the lake if we went out to the noisy balcony. We asked to switch our rooms and were told the hotel was completely full. Instead, they offered to comp our €150 meal at the restaurant. We paid €645 per night per room. Very disappointed. The rooms were modern and nicely appointed, but that construction site is a major impediment. If we would’ve known beforehand, we would not have stayed at this hotel.   Junior corner suite

  We stayed in a Junior Corner Suite on the 6th floor of the hotel for a week to celebrate our anniversary. We had a magnificent view over Lake Maggiore which is the main reason we booked the hotel.The positives:The hotel is well designed, bright and airy.The room itself had a fabulous big bed, a sofa and a couple of chairs. On the balcony we had another sofa, table and chairs and a lounger. So lots of places to relax.The room was very well kept with two visits a day from housekeeping.The pool is stunning, plenty of sun loungers and umbrellas and a wonderful view over the lake.The sky bar is beautiful, again lots of space and places to sit.Breakfast is fantastic, there was plenty of choice and the staff were excellent.The negatives:The bathroom was quite small and didn't have a bath, the tight configuration made the floor constantly got wet from the open shower.There was no blind on the bathroom window which overlooked a building site so we had to hang a towel over the window to shower in privacy. No mirror in the bedroom, the main mirror in the room was in the lobby area which was quite dark. Aside from the staff at breakfast who were brilliant, the rest of the staff were a bit hit and miss in terms of customer service. We had to escalate a few issues to the manager.The sofa in the room was a sofa bed and was hard as heck! Not in the least bit comfortable to relax on.Finally the big issue is the building work next door. We were on a corner overlooking the building site. That meant noise starting at 8am and going on until around 5 everyday. It meant using the balcony during the day was not as pleasurable as it should have been. The manager did offer to move us but we were reticent to give up the view so decided to stay put.Would we visit again? Probably once the building work is finished though it's a massive project so that won't be soon!

  Wonderful beach club , perfect

  We absolutely adore Italy and have travelled to many different lakes across the years.Lake Maggiore did not disappoint.The highlight of the hotel was the beach club across the road. Our experience with the staff was fabulous, they worked really hard and non stop all day, with a smile. They were attentive and hospitable, and made our time pleasant. They really took time to answer any questions and were right there when we needed any help. You could see them engaging with all the hotel guests, and came across so friendly and welcoming. Same goes for the staff at the restaurant, breakfast was always busy, but the staff worked hard, always on the move and never too busy to provide anything we asked for, so thank you.However, what let the hotel down were the staff at the reception who were not attentive at all. Every person on the front desk were unwelcoming, on arrival and throughout the day. Not one person could even give a simple smile, even when approached with questions. Everything seemd like such an effort and they came scross as not wanting to be there. This was certainly very poor and even when asked questions, it seemed to bother them and we were given unhelpful and abrupt answers. We are really surprised that front desk were like this , which was very disappointing and made us not want to ask any further questions or engage with any of them.The reception staff at La Palma should take note!! This is what wonderful service should be like!! So thank you to all the lovely exceptional staff at the beach club and also restaurant.If it were not for the staff at the beach club and restaurant, I would have rated this hotel 1 star based on ther front desk. Front desk certainly let the hotel down on this occasion from our experience.
