Great hotel, staff, breakfast, spa. We were upgraded to a room with unobstructed view of the lake which was absolutely fantastic. The only criticism is that the room tea tray was not great and did not match the room/shower/view - cheap coffee and tea sachets, we had to go and get milk every time we needed it, and only one bottle of water each to last 5 nights.

The food in the restaurant spoiled it for us.

The hotel is lovely and in a good location. It is clean with excellent facilities. The staff work hard and are very polite. What spoiled it for us was the restaurant menu. It was the same menu every night and it was the same even one lunchtime when we had lunch as well. The food was very salty and the meat under cooked. I asked many times for it to be cooked well without any blood but the chef refused. The waiter said he cooks it like that to keep the mosture. I think when a person asks for it to be cooked in a certain way this request should be adhered to. I sent back uneaten beef and rack of lamb which was very pink. Nobody asked me why or whether i would like it redone. They just took the uneaten food away. Thankfully we had bought snacks from the shop we kept in our room to eat later. I also asked for less salt to be added when they cooked my food to be told the chef used specifically measured amounts. In the end I asked for plain salad plain vegetables and basic tomato pasta dishes. Not good for a fine dining restaurant. I overheard other guests also asking for their meat to be well cooked, so it wasnt just us. I felt it was more about the chef's 'pride' rather than what the customer wants. There were several dogs staying at the hotel as well. We heard barking and whining through the night which kept us awake. For this reason we would not stay here again.

Fantastic hotel

We loved this hotel. Staff really friendly, great location, great breakfast, very clean rooms. We got upgraded for 3/7 nights and had a deluxe lake view room which was an unexpected lovely surprise. I cannot fault the hotel. We had such a lovely holiday and would definitely consider staying at La Palma again.
