NOT AS POSTED, DIVERTED TO ANNEX

    rating11 Jan 2026

Upon arrival to Citta, we were immediately informed that a room in the main hotel (as we had reserved) was not available, and so we would be staying in their Annex. After parking in their extremely tight spaced garage. We had to enter through a labryinth of sterile corridors to reach an internal boxy room - all white, no colorful curtains or bedspread - with a view of an internal industrial space. Breakfast was not included, and there was a 10am checkout. Entry and Exit from this space was like entering a warehouse or industrial building.

    “OK” but room for improvement

    rating25 Oct 2025

We stayed seven nights, bed and breakfast in Superior Room (Room 306) costing £1205 GBP for the week (£172/day), we didn’t have a car so no car parking needed. This is a medium sized hotel, very well centrally located in Trieste on a quiet street. There are no facilities in the hotel as such, just a breakfast room. There’s no bar or lounge area. The reception staff are friendly and helpful. Bedrooms are furnished ok, fairly stylish but not large. Bathrooms look new and a good size. We thought the toiletries were very basic. The bedroom and bathroom were on the whole clean. The hotel advertises itself as having air conditioning BUT it is NOT turned on in October even if it’s a hot day. So it was like a SAUNA!!! Unbearable during our first night and we got no sleep as it was so HOT! There was also a distinct whiff of the drains in the bathroom. Not nice. We complained and had to move bedrooms, which was somewhat inconvenient. See also another TripAdvisor report in May 2025, in room 406 directly above our bedroom, saying exactly the same so the problem has not been solved or rectified. Air Con is normally controllable in the room but the hotel turns it off centrally!! A lot of tv channels on the tv but very few in English, and no BBC unfortunately. We were left wondering what is superior about the room.Breakfast is generally good - it’s buffet style and doesn’t change at all so after seven days we were a little tired of the same foods. There are cereals, at least two types of juice, a good coffee selection, there is ham, salami and cheese, including mozzarella balls, tomatoes and other items etc. But there is only hard boiled eggs available (no poached or fried or scrambled eggs available to de-shell yourself. Best of all are the EXCELLENT choice of cakes at breakfast, including very nice chocolate croissants - absolutely superb and there are non-chocolate croissants available too! Plus lots of other cakes to choose from! Staff at breakfast are very helpful. Also there are gluten free (pre-brought) cakes available which is very good. No gluten free bread though which is a bit odd, but we were pleased to have the cakes, thank you! Small 2 person lift which very oddly stops between the floors on a half landing area … i.e. you still have to walk up / down a half-flight of stairs to reach the bedroom floor! And the lift doesn’t go to the reception floor, so you still have to climb/descend several stairs no matter what. No help offered with luggage. Overall we liked the position of the hotel and the breakfast and the staff but we really didn’t like the lack of air conditioning when it was such good weather (especially at the start of our stay). And we thought it was somewhat expensive for the overall accommodation on offer. Trieste itself is a great city to visit and there are countless great restaurants to dine at.

Perfect position in the city center, super friendly staff, rooms in depadance brand new

    rating04 Jun 2025

Strong recommendation for Hotel Citta di Parenzo in Trieste. We have booked triplle room in annex of the hotel. Everything is brand new; the smell of new wall paintings, floor, carpets in a lobby just indicates that complete building is build lately. The room itself is big, clean, with safe, small fridge, big flat TV, free WiFi, coffee maschine, hot water dispenser.Bathroom with WC is very modern with hairdryer, shampoo, shower gel etc. There is a park place available upot request and payment of 20€ per night.Parking garage is rather tight, as almost everywhere in Italy and therefore take care about drive-in and drive-out.Although this topic with parking garage could be somehow evaluated as a negative point, my recommendations to Citta DI Parenzo. Thanks to its perfect position, just some minutes away from the city center and Canal Grande, this hotel could be the first choice for your stay in Trieste.

A special gem in the heart of the city!

    rating02 Jun 2025

We stayed at this lovely boutique hotel for 3 nights last November. Comfortable bed with down duvet and large modern bathroom.Room had a coffee machine and mini fridge.Breakfast was served on the main floor and it was buffet style. Wide variety of choices and very good.Reception staff was very helpful and friendly.Hotel is situated on a hillside just a 5 minute walk to the historic centre. The Roman theatre,Piazza Unita d’Italia, Trieste harbour and Grande Canal are also a short walk.Trieste Centrale train Station is a 15 to 20 min.walk.We found Trieste to be a beautiful and clean city with an amazing history and architecture. Many interesting landmarks and churches. So much to see and do.A special thanks to Fredericka from the kitchen staff! On our request she took the time to talk to us about putting together a boxed breakfast for our early morning train ride. Was very kind of her! We enjoyed our stay and highly recommend this hotel.
