  A reliable option not far from the centre of Alba

  I spent 3 nights in the Calissano and would definitely recommend it.It’s a comfortable hotel just outside the main centre. Staff were friendly, breakfast was good and rooms were fine. Nothing outstanding but a great option for a few nights in beautiful Alba.

  ????? HOTEL CALISSANO — FIVE STARS, NO NOTES! THIS IS HOW HOSPITALITY IS DONE!We spent four wonderful days and three nights at Hotel Calissano in Alba, and WOW! What an absolutely fantastic experience. The hotel is lovely, but the STAFF? INCREDIBLE. These people could teach a master class in hospitality!We arrived by train from Torino (because my husband is obsessed with trains ??), completely unaware that finding a taxi during Alba's famous White Truffle Festival would be practically impossible. After realizing we were stranded at the station, I called the hotel. Within FIVE MINUTES, they sent someone to pick us up! FIVE MINUTES! Angela was wonderful, and Gianni was an absolute superstar.Then came our next little transportation disaster. We'd reserved a rental car, not realizing Avis closed at 12:30 p.m. on Saturdays. OOPS! We had already booked cooking classes with Michelin-starred chefs and weren't about to miss those! Enter Gianni, our personal miracle worker. I'm assuming he's the general manager, but honestly, he might be the mayor of Alba for all I know. ??We explained our predicament, and Gianni made one mysterious phone call. He warned us there were no guarantees, and then, seconds later, we heard: "PERFETTO! PERFETTO!" Somehow, in a town with virtually NO available taxis or drivers, he'd arranged private transportation for us!And the next morning? Our driver pulls up in a MASERATI! A MASERATI, PEOPLE! ?? For approximately €40 — about what we'd have paid for a regular taxi, possibly LESS! I mean, COME ON. Who does that?!As for the hotel itself, our room was lovely, clean, comfortable and well stocked. Everything smelled fresh, everything worked, and everything was exactly as it should be. Imagine that! The breakfast room was an absolute madhouse with festival visitors, but the servers handled the chaos with remarkable efficiency and grace. Not a single person seemed rattled.This hotel and its restaurant operate like a beautifully well-oiled machine. Every staff member we encountered was professional, warm, gracious and genuinely eager to help. Angela and Gianni deserve special recognition for turning our transportation disasters into some of our favorite memories of the trip.We've stayed at plenty of upscale hotels throughout Italy, and Hotel Calissano stands out for something money can't always buy: truly exceptional SERVICE. The location can't be beat, so walkable to the festival and all shopping and restaurants. FIVE STARS. NO NOTES. BRAVO, HOTEL CALISSANO! ??????

  We went truffle hunting and spent three nights at Hotel Calissano and had a wonderful stay. The hotel itself is older, but the rooms are very comfortable and Pet-friendly. What really makes the hotel special is the excellent staff. From reception to management to the restaurant team, everyone was genuinely helpful and welcoming. They made our stay feel personal and memorable.

  Distinction: there is Hotel Calissano and apartments at Hotel Calissano. We stayed at the apartments, which are in an adjacent building to the hotel. Bruno went above and beyond at check-in. He took us to the parking garage & directed us where to park our electric car rental. He even hooked up the charging equipment. Bruno then escorted us to our apartment and pointed out all features. Kudos to Bruno!The apartment had a full kitchen with refrigerator and stove. Private bath was a nice size but a couple of comments: the shower door did not close all the way so water was always on the floor after showering; the light in the bathroom was motion sensitive and out of range of the shower, unless you waved your hands above your head. There needs to be a manual override for the light. We had a balcony but there was no furniture on it so we had to take kitchen table chairs out if we wanted to sit outside. The location was great, a 5-10 min walk to the center of old town. However, the street the hotel is on is a bit dark and off the main road. Thankfully there was always other guests walking back in the evening, but for two women walking alone, it felt a little desolate/sketchy. Breakfast in the hotel was included. The dining room that breakfast was served was pleasing and had plenty of room. There were a variety of selections for breakfast. Would stay at Calissano again if in the Piedmont region. It was easy to explore and visit other towns & go on excursions. We went on a truffle hunt and winery tour/tasting within 30 minutes of Alba. Also explored neighboring towns of La Morra & Nieve. Alba's old town was charming and we spent a few days and evenings wining & dining.

  Modern Roomy Hotel Apartment Right in the heart of Alba

  Family of 4 adults, we stayed in one of the 3 bedroom apartments in a modern building immediately adjacent to the main hotel. Well-appointed, modern, nice beds, two large bathrooms, full kitchen and living room. Top-notch accommodations for an apartment hotel in Europe. My only nitpicks would be that only one of the bathrooms had a stand-up shower, the other had a bathtub with hand spray that is typical in Italy. And given that the apartment seemed otherwise fully appointed, it could have easily fit one of those small washer/dryer combo units that fit under the counter in kitchen.As for the main property, the lobby and lobby bar were very quaint in that old European style (but not outdated), the buffet breakfast had most everything you could want, and the staff was incredibly polite and helpful. At the last minute I decided to change a planned train to Milan with a private transfer, and the front desk checked with three different drivers to find the best rate.As for the location, hard to be better situated with a short 3 min walk to Piazza Ferrero, and 10 mins to the heart of the old town. Would recommend to anyone visiting the charming town of Alba or looking for a jumping off point for touring the local wine and truffle country.
