    Charming hotel

    rating03 Apr 2026

We stayed at the Grand Astoria for a week whilst skiing as a family of 3.The room was comfortable and the right size for us although storage was a bit of an issue, especially with bulky ski clothes. We also had a room that opened onto the terrace which was a great bonus. Whilst we were fine with charging phones etc in the room, my hair dryer/styler short circuited the room as the sockets are low amp, so don't bother taking one! The entire hotel was very very warm, even adjusting the thermostat in the room we slept with the door slightly open on some nights (bear in mind it was snowing). The restaurant area is also VERY warm. Food in the restaurant was fantastic, there is a buffet/apppetizer section but the rest of the menu is table service and you need to choose the day before. Breakfast is buffet style. Sliders, slippers and shorts are not allowed in the restaurant. The gym and sports facilities are dated but ok, the pool area is nice but got very crowded in the late afternoons when everyone is back from skiing. Remember to bring a swimming hat (men and women) as you cannot swim without one. All the staff were very friendly and attentive. The only exception to this was the very blasé attitude towards no one planning ahead to have the snow cleared from the parking areas despite heavy snow fall being forecast several days ahead The parking at the front is limited and very tight and several cars got stuck. Underground car park is also available and there is a heated ski room. Overall we enjoyed our stay. The village and surroundings were very picturesque and the hotel is very conveniently located for all the main local slopes which are just a short drive or bus ride away; the closest, Bertoldi, is 5 minutes down the road

Charming winter time in Grand Hotel Astoria

    rating07 Oct 2019

As every year, together with friends we went skiing to the charming Lavarone and chose the Grand Astoria hotel as the place to stay. We spent a wonderful time there. The hotel provided rest after visiting the slopes in spacious rooms, and evening relaxation in the zone with swimming pool and jacuzzi. Grand Hotel Astoria offered very tasty meals often associated with regional cuisine. I recommend this hotel with my traveling companions. For sure this year I will also use their hospitality.

    Perfect location for us.

    rating14 Sept 2019

We stayed for a week as the location was perfect for exploring the local area and going walking - we had a hire car. We were met by Vera on Reception who was excellent - extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Our pre-booked room with a balcony was upgrade to a Superior Room with a Balcony overlooking the lake; the balcony was the biggest one on the first floor. The staff were excellent; no matter who they were, nothing was too much trouble; they were always friendly, pleasant and helpful. The food was good; local style fare with a huge salad bar and hot dishes prior to starting on your first course. The decor is in keeping with the original style of the hotel so it has a turn of the century (19th to 20th) feel about it. The indoor swimming pool was great to use. Plenty of room on the terraces although we sat on our balcony so didn't use them. Be aware that local bus timetables are reduced in September.

    Grand views from the Grand

    rating03 Sept 2019

We recently stayed in the Grand for a week and enjoyed the experience. Fortunately we paid the extra supplement for a room with a balcony, overlooking the lake. I feel a room at the other side would not have been to our liking as they look out over the main road. The room was a bit "tired", and if I'm honest, a bit disappointing for a 4 star rating. Nothing major, it was clean and comfortable, but lacked those little extras, like pictures on the walls etc.The hotel is well equipped with pool, gym, jacuzzi,Wellness area etc., but I can't comment on these as we never used any of them.We stayed on a Half Boars basis, and have no complaints about the food, breakfast was buffet style with lots of choice, and the evening meal only disappointed once, it was a special evening and every course was fish, ideal if you are a lover of fish, but the quality was good and we had sufficient. The staff were very friendly, and helpful throughout the hotel, and this always makes a stay more enjoyable

    A thoroughly enjoyable stay

    rating14 Aug 2019

My wife and I stayed for a week at this hotel and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The single most important thing about this hotel is the helpful and friendly staff who were all wonderful people. Can not fault any staff member. The front desk, bar and restaurant staff were consistently delightful and they all contributed to making our stay at this hotel so enjoyable. The staff worked extremely hard and we are very grateful to them. The room overlooking the lake was superb. The bar staff mixed some of the finest negronis and cocktails I have tasted. The food was consistently of a high standard as was the service.Special mention must be made of the resident Chef de Cuisine who I spoke to personally and thanked. A lovely man ! This was our first visit to this part of the delightful Italian Alps and we left with many happy memories of the Grand Hotel Astoria and the region in general. I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel and hope prospective guests enjoy themselves as much as we did. Thank you.
