    Check your bed

    rating07 Oct 2026

I have waited a while to post this. I hoped that the hotel management would reach out with a response, but I have been ignored. We stayed the night on 8/29/26 after returning from a cruise and flew out the next morning. When we arrived, the agent on duty (presumably the manager) was welcoming and very helpful. The hotel itself is beautiful and in a great location. Everything was 10/10 until we went to bed around 10:30. When I pulled the covers back, there was excrement on the sheets. Of course we were very upset and my husband went down to the desk. Only one person was working and he came to look at the spot and offered to bring us sheets to change them ourselves. Also said he had no other rooms available. We refused and told him (very nicely... we were not rude at all)he had to get someone else to change the bedding. Miracle... He had another room. So we packed up and moved. He told us to speak with the manager in the morning. When morning arrived, we were rushing to get to the airport, and I asked the manager if he had been informed about the incident. He shrugged like it was no big deal. I asked him again, and his response was, "Well, we gave you another room." I was in a hurry to get to the airport, but I looked at him and said something like "that's it?" He shrugged and turned away. I had plenty of time to think about this on my way back to the US. What did I expect? Comped room? Not really, although if I had been in charge that would have been my response. I just wanted him to acknowledge that this was an intentional act by someone (no way it couldn't be.... Either someone intentionally did it or someone intentionally didn't change the sheets) and that he would look into it and make sure it didn't happen again - and an apology. This was very unnerving before me. How gross! I got nothing from him. I sent an email a few days after my return and have been ignored. So here is the review. I have photos. Great place until you find poop in your bed. Alvise Vianello, Direttore generale at Hotel Abbazia, responded to this review Our dearest Readers,?believe us when we say that responding to reviews is never a simple task—and even less so when faced with one of this particular tenor. Yet, we feel obliged to do so. Receiving such a severely low score is a genuine shame, albeit an extraordinarily rare occurrence given the meticulous care our housekeeping team takes in preparing rooms for arriving guests. Equally exceptional is the warmth, charm, professionalism, and discretion with which our reception team serves our clientele across all shifts—virtues consistently highlighted by virtually everyone who stays with us… or almost everyone.?On the other hand, as noted even in this rather inglorious review, the guests were provided with an alternative room in the middle of the night, several hours after the initial one had already been in use.?We strictly refrain, on this page, from employing any phrasing or tone that could be construed as even remotely offensive toward our guests—to whom we had already intentionally refrained from replying, given the delicate nature of the matter.?It brings to mind an occasion when a guest requested a room change claiming a strong smell of food in their suite—only for us to discover they had brought along their own cookware and a portable stove…?We wish to everyone a wonderful life, peace, and serenity!?Alvise Vianello, Manager

Hotel Abbazia gets our highest recommendation — especially for cyclists!

    rating02 Oct 2026

If you’re planning a cycling trip through the Prosecco Hills, I honestly can’t imagine a better place to stay than Hotel Abbazia in Follina. It was one of the highlights of our trip. The location is absolutely perfect for cycling. The roads surrounding Follina are in excellent condition, traffic is surprisingly light, and there are beautiful rides in virtually every direction. You can leave the hotel in the morning and immediately be riding through some of the most spectacular scenery in the Prosecco Hills. And then there’s the hotel itself — WOW! Hotel Abbazia is spectacular. It is very high-end, the rooms are beautiful and extremely comfortable, and the breakfast buffet is outstanding. After a day on the bike, it is a wonderful place to come home to.What really sets Hotel Abbazia apart, though, is the staff and how welcoming they are to cyclists. Giovanni and his wife are avid cyclists themselves, so they really understand what cyclists need. They are incredibly friendly, knowledgeable and helpful, and there is a secure place to store your bikes overnight. If you need bikes, Italy Vespa and E-Bikes is right around the corner and has excellent e-bikes. We also had a fantastic experience with Alessandro (who runs Italy Cycling Tour) was amazing and incredibly helpful.Sara and the rest of the Hotel Abbazia staff were wonderful as well. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble. They can help arrange transfers to and from Venice and even transportation up to CastelBrando if you feel like heading up the mountain for pizza and a spectacular view. You really don’t need to go far for dinner, though. The hotel has an excellent bistro and restaurant, making it very easy to finish a long day of riding with a great meal and simply walk upstairs to your room. There are also great restaurants and bars within walking distance. You don't need to car for your cycling trip!We have stayed in a lot of hotels while travelling and cycling in Europe, and Hotel Abbazia really stands out. Beautiful hotel, wonderful people, fantastic food, excellent cycling and a perfect location. If we return to cycle the Prosecco Hills, there is absolutely no question where we will stay.Hotel Abbazia gets our highest recommendation — especially for cyclists!

Good hotel in a easy location

    rating25 Sept 2026

Good, clean hotel in an old Abbey with old-fashioned Venetian character. The room was small, and the walls are covered with old fabric drapes and antique-style furniture. The bathroom is small and basic. The downstairs bar occupies a chapel-like, monastic hall, retaining much of the building’s old-world religious character and was a great place to sit. The breakfast was good but in a cramped area. The location is fantastic and close to the station, which we needed as we were in Venice for only a day and a half. Getting to and from hotels to transport within Venice can be a challenge, so this location where we did not have to drag suitcases across bridges and cobblestone streets or use porters was great.

    Wonderful Find

    rating08 Sept 2026

My wife and I recently had the pleasure of staying here. It is a wonderful old building that is being lovingly restored and almost finished from what I could see. It is extremely well located and in my opinion rates well above its 3 star rating! I have stayed in Venice numerous times with my wife and this is the best accomodation we have had not to mention the breakfast. Outstanding breakfast. If I ever went back to Venice I would be trying to stay here at the Hotel Abbiaza.
