It was ok..... maybe a 3*....maybe

After a delayed flight I arrived in Venice after 1300. Finding Al Canal Regio was somewhat challenging. Off the main street down a short walk by the canal, down 2 more very narrow streets (allys) ... Found it! Since no staff was available I called WhatsApp, spoke with a rep who gave me the combination to the front door and my room. Well I was lucky that there was a couple sitting having wine in the open air entrance behind the front door as I was not given the correct combo! The 2 guests gave me the correct combo. I was in. The room was .... adequate. loft bedroom was fine, great A/C and bathroom was clean but the shower needed some real TLC. I was directly on the canal which made it so great. Beautiful hotel across the water and many boats passing by. It was a quiet area off the beaten path. When the rep was there, he was very helpful! Not sure but I believe an attendant was there from 9:00-1300.If you take the breakfast option, it looks very good, I did not op for it.

Very disappointed, mould in room. Avoid!

    rating18 May 2026

We stayed at this hotel in Venice after booking a standard double room for €355, largely based on the 8.1 rating on Booking.com. Unfortunately, we left feeling very misled and disappointed with the overall experience. We were originally placed in Room 25, but quickly requested a move as the room felt far below standard. The room was extremely hot, there were dirty marks on the walls, and overall it simply did not feel clean or well maintained. We were then moved to Room 27, which sadly came with even more issues. The bathroom had mould due to poor ventilation, and the window could not be opened which would have made a huge difference. The toilet had a cracked seat and the small flush button was broken. The soap dish was also broken. The bath/shower leaked badly, flooding the bathroom floor, and while showering, water also came out of the bath tap which resulted in constantly hot feet. The entire room had a generally dirty feel throughout our stay. The bed was extremely uncomfortable — you could feel the springs through the mattress, leading to poor sleep each night. The pillows were also very poor quality. There were scuffs on the walls, mould around the bedroom window and ceiling, broken curtains, exposed wires, and dirty light switches. On top of this, the walls were incredibly thin and we could hear everything happening in the corridor. For the price paid, we expected a much higher standard of cleanliness, maintenance, and comfort. Venice is an amazing city, but unfortunately this hotel was a major disappointment.

Very poor standards and customer experience at this guesthouse

    rating28 Oct 2025

We’re just back from a 3-night stay at this guesthouse; we booked it, as we’d stayed there some years ago but it was very poor this time round. Our advice, following this recent stay, is to book elsewhere.Good points: canal-view room (Room 2) offers an amazing view of the canal that runs parallel to the room; the full-length mirror was great; the location of the hotel is fab for those who, like us, love the walking aspect of a stay in Venice, in what is the pleasant, quieter district of Cannaregio.Bad points: at breakfast, the dirty and unemptied dustbin was placed right next to the (very limited) food selection and kitchenette area. We therefore chose not to take up the breakfasts we’d paid in advance for on the remaining two mornings. Despite repeated requests to the Reception team, there was never any milk in the room fridge - which made it impossible to make use of the room’s tea and coffee making facilities. There were mosquitos in the room (which we could hear at night) and we both suffered bites as a result. The room was grubby.Maintenance issues: a light switch in our room was taped-over with sellotape to discourage use (evidently there was an electrical issue with it), there was no working heating in our room, the shower tray leaked significantly after every use, the room-safe was not useable (no key was provided, despite repeated requests) and remained unusable for the duration of our stay. Understandably, the Reception staff were unable to resolve maintenance issues, but neither did the maintenance staff. For the price paid, the experience was terrible. I don’t understand why the owners of this establishment don’t act on the consistent negative reviews in order to improve and restore this guesthouse to its former standard. I just wish I’d checked the reviews prior to our recent visit, as I definitely wouldn’t have booked it. The other negative reviews that’ve been posted are fair and correct, based on our very recent visit.

Perfect place to stay in Venice

    rating13 Apr 2025

Amazing location, our room was at canal level! Staff are professional and polite. Room was spacious and clean. Perfect place to stay in Venice. Great breakfast (sweet and savoury croissants) and superb coffee included.Loads of bars and restaurants close by and not far to walk to all the main tourist ‘attractions’

    Terrible Experience.

FATAL! Nothing recommended and zero professionals. They had an error on their website when making the reservation, and without receiving confirmation or any notice, they made me a charge that they refuse to refund. They only offer change of dates at a higher cost than the website itself.
