    Wonderful Stay. Highly recommended:)

    rating20 Sept 2026

Our family greatly enjoyed our stay at the Best Western Hotel Bologna Mestre last week, prior to our Venice cruise. The hotel is conveniently located in close proximity to the Marco Polo Airport, Cruise, Terminal, Dining and across the street from the Mestre Train Station, which is about a 10 minute ride from Venice Island/Saint Marks Square/etc.Prior to our arrival, I was also able to arrange transportation through Hotel Bologna from the hotel to our cruise port through the hotel. The gentleman who was our driver was just that, a very kind gentleman who got our family to the cruise port quickly and safely. Upon our arrival to the hotel, we were greeted by Chiara. Chiara was most welcoming, so refreshing after a long day of travel from the US. She had everything covered. so organized. As we stay at best Western hotels frequently in the US, she provided complementary breakfast to my husband and I as a thank you for our continued business with Best Western (Diamond members). This breakfast offered very good options (hot, cold and many delicious European, pastries, croissants and cakes). At check -in, she also confirmed our ride arrangements to the cruise port were set (without my even asking). This provided peace of mind that our transport arrangements were covered. A small, but such important gesture to assure no surprises on cruise day.Our room was nice. Clean, nice, spacious bathrooms. This was a good stay.I highly recommend this hotel and am thankful for the wonderful treatment we received from Chiara and team as guests here, while far away from home. Grazie!

Nice hotel, somewhat inconvenient location into Venice

    rating19 Sept 2026

The Best Western Plus Hotel in Venice is large, well equipped hotel in Bologna (more on that in a moment.) It is conveniently located right across the street from the Bus station. Chiara was our go-to person at the front desk and she was lovely. Very helpful with directions and recommendations and a credit to the organization. The included breakfast was excellent, nutritious, and convenient. Included breakfasts save a lot of time. The room was spacious and comfortable. Somewhat noisy outside. I will say that on our last night there was no hot water. We called and they sent someone up who said it would be hot in 10 minutes and that was the last we saw of him and it didn’t happen. We called the front desk a few times and they tried to help. I asked to speak with manager, but he was not available until the next morning, when were rushed to get to the airport. We took cold showers. Suffice to say we did not have hot water until the morning and it was frustrating to pay that price with no hot water.Something to take note of that we didn’t know, being a first-time visitor to Venice. The hotel is not in the heart of Venice, with its shops, hotels, restaurants, and rich history. We had to take a bus, which got quite crowded, and then a water taxi to where we wanted to be. This was time consuming and factor some extra Euros for this trip. The is NOT the fault of the hotel, and just something to account for when planning your trip.

Conveniently Across from Mestre Train Station

    rating15 Jul 2026

Literally, across the street from the Mestre train station, which is only a 15 minute ride into Venice. The room was spacious and included a small open closet with shelves, slippers, a safe and a refrigerator. On the counter/desk, there was also a kettle with instant coffee and tea. The bathroom was large, as well, but had no shelving or hooks to put your things on while you showered. Some reviewers complained about an odd smell. I kind of agree. The room smelled a little musty and I think it is because it is an old building. They need a dehumidifier. Otherwise, the room and the rest of the hotel were very clean. There's a bar/restaurant on the first floor, but we didn't use it. We had quick breakfasts at the coffee/pastry cafes in the station, and our other meals in Venice itself. Also, we were at the back of the hotel, so I can't write about the noise level. Two sides of the building face very busy streets, so I'd request a room in the back.

After late night light show in our room, management ghosted us'

    rating21 Jun 2026

I’m not a review poster. I just don’t get bothered enough or impressed enough to take the time to post reviews. Until now.On Saturday, 30 May, my wife and I checked into a hotel in Mestre, Italy: Best Western Hotel Balogna. The hotel was just what we needed for one night prior to getting on a ship to cruise the Adriatic Sea.At 2:30 AM, the overhead lights in our room began flashing on and off, accompanied by a clicking sound. A few minutes later, the bedside table lamp on my wife’s side started flashing as well. Another few minutes later, the table lamp on my side did the same. The clicking sound accompanied each on and off, of the lights. The flashing and sounds continued for an hour, during which we figured out that the source of the sound was a breaker tripping repeatedly on the electrical panel in the closet. Eventually we figured out how to turn off the overhead lights, and unplugged the bedside lamps, however, the clicking continued. The next morning, on our way to breakfast in the hotel, we made the front desk staff aware of our late-night light and sound show, indicating that we would check back after breakfast to negotiate compensation for the event. After breakfast, the desk staff said that they could comp us our breakfast – value about 35 Euros. And if we wanted, we could raid the minibar in the room (our cruise included all beverages). I then posed a hypothetical question: If they (current desk staff) had been checking into a hotel and were told at that time that they would be awakened at 2:30 AM for an hour with a light and sound show, but that they would get free breakfast, would they have agreed to continue with the check-in? Of course not. They questioned why we hadn’t notified the desk at the time of the event. Us: would an electrician really have come to fix the problem? Would packing up and moving to a different room really have been the best solution? They said that they couldn’t provide any additional compensation because we had prepaid via a third-party. Our confirmation has the Best Western logo and has reserv@cs.bestwestern.com on it. Regardless of how we made the reservation, we deserved more compensation. We asked if they had a cash drawer for when guests pay in cash or need change. Answer: yes, but we aren’t allowed to pay out any compensation.I believed the desk clerks couldn’t go any further without upper management’s involvement. So, I informed them that I would wait a week for communication from their upper management. After that, I would tell my tale on several review websites. We have received no communication from either Best Western or the hotel management. So here is my story. Other than a defect in the electric panel, the hotel was fine. The desk staff were sympathetic and did their best. Hotel management is tone deaf and apparently, have chosen to get toasted on social media but keep, say, 100 Euros.

    Fabulous

    rating26 May 2026

Great room. 2 Showers. Lots of room for 4 people. Loved the body/hair wash.Safe worked great. Beds were comfortable. The towels were amazing! The staff were very helpful. Super close to the Mestre train station. Close to lots of great restaurants. Tree lined streets were all over this part of the city. Great to walk around. Although the crazies start to come out around sunset. Very clean and smelled good.
