    Buyer Beware

    rating10 May 2026

First Time visiting Venice ***WARNING *** The staff from the Riva Del Vin were very accommodating TO START with by arranging my request for transportation for 4 people (2 couples) from the port of Ravenna (upon disembarkment from our cruise)to their hotel in Venice. This transportation arrangement was made with the hotel staff well in advance of our arrival at a price of 770 euro (192.50 euro per person) which is roughly a 90 mile land vehicle transit and also a water taxi to their hotel for the last leg.13 days before our arrival at the hotel one of the couples had to cancel due to a medical hospitalization emergency. I contacted the staff at the hotel immediately upon finding out. They expressed empathy and put my mind at ease via email that they would change the transportation from 4 to 2. The major COMPLAINT I have with the staff is , while they appeared quite accommodating, they neglected to inform me the cost was STILL going to be 770 euro !! But now for only 2 people! If they had informed me when I communicated to them 13 days ahead of our arrival I could have figured out other arrangements but we were informed on the morning we were disembarking the ship and felt trapped to accept the outrageous charge. It was a HORRIBLE WELCOME to this Venice hotel from a port 90 miles away. I expressed to the staff in an email that morning as we were getting off the ship that I was upset by the lack of communication from the hotel staff which cost me 385 MORE Euros or double .I requested a response from the hotel manager. I did not receive one . I did speak to the staff upon our arrival and politely told them it was a error for them to say they would take care of it but not inform me that the price would remain at 770 euro even though it was now just my wife and myself and not a reservation for 4. It was also a mistake on my part (BUYER BEWARE) not to have confirmed the new cost to us and allowing the staff to fool me into thinking the cost was going to be reduced accordingly. The staff had no accountability for the mistake and blamed the transportation company which they outsource to. It left us feeling horribly CHEATED (385 euro more than expected!!) and disappointed that no one from the hotel was kind enough to inform us the cost would be the same for 2 as it was for 4 even though we contacted them almost 2 weeks before our arrival. And no response from hotel management as to corrective actions is why we will not recommend this hotel.PSHotel staff made our transportation arrangements exiting from the hotel to the airport. We agreed to the cost of 160 euro with the hotel staff. When we arrived at the dock of the airport the water taxi driver would not take a credit card saying his card reader was out of battery. What ?I was able to produce 160 euro in cash but once again feeling suspicious of a kickback scheme between outsourced transport companies and the hotel staff. Charta Eat & Drink, at Riva Del Vin Boutique Hotel, responded to this review Dear Mr. Steve O',Thank you for sharing your opinion about your recent stay at the Boutique Hotel Riva del Vin. We greatly appreciate your feedback, as it helps us understand where we can improve. We are deeply sorry that the services offered did not meet your expectations, especially for the misunderstanding regarding the price quoted via email. The service you booked included assistance upon arrival at the dock, 150 km via highway by luxury van or car until Venice Piazzale Roma, and then water taxi to the hotel. As always mentioned for all the reservations through email, the transfer fee is calculated per trip and not per person, so the price does not change for two or four people.Anyway, we will conduct an internal investigation to improve our own and our partners' procedures and standards. We hope this experience does not permanently impact your opinion of our hotel, and we sincerely hope to have a second chance to improve your feedback. For any further information, please do not hesitate to contact us at direzione@rivadelvin.it.Sincerely,Management

    Perfect Venetian Hotel

    rating04 Apr 2026

We had a wonderful four night stay at Riva Del Vin Boutique Hotel, and it truly added something special to our trip. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel incredibly welcome. Each one of them was friendly, attentive, and always happy to help. Their warm hospitality really stood out and made the experience feel personal rather than transactional especially when it came to recommendations for places to eat or gondola rides. Our canal view room was a highlight of the stay. Waking up each morning to the activity on The Grand Canal and watching gondolas pass by was exactly the Venetian experience we had hoped for. The room itself was comfortable, clean and very spacious. It was a nice touch that the hotel arranged a complimentary visit for us to the Ferro & Lazzarini glass factory in Murano with an exclusive tour of the factory and shop. Breakfast being included was a great bonus. There was a good variety each morning, with fresh options of meats and fruit.Overall, Riva Del Vin Boutique Hotel is a fantastic choice for anyone looking for a centrally located, situated within a 1 minute walk of the Rialto Bridge, it is charming place to stay with beautiful views and exceptional service. We would happily return.

Absolutely amazing stay. The location is perfect (centrally located), the views perfect (The Grand Canal and Rialto Bridge), and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful and kind. Monia and Carolana helped us so much. From restaurant recommendations to help with getting to the train station, to just wonderful conversations. They helped make the trip to Venice so much more enjoyable.

    Lovely place

    rating05 Aug 2025

What a wonderfully located hotel! Right on the Grand Canal! We had a room overlooking the Rialto Bridge. The room itself was spacious. You do have to enter from an alley, and the woman at the front desk was very nice. The breakfast was a very nice surprise with quite a selection of pastries, meats and cheeses, breads, fruit, hard boiled eggs, and more. The only downside, which may have been particular to our room, is the noise from below. There was music playing loudly, but it ended at about 11 pm.The music was not a bother to us, but it is definitely something to be aware of.
