Great location, friendly staff, small room
23 Apr 2026
Stayed for 3 nights 16-20 April. The hotel is in a great spot, 5 mins walk from Piazza San Marco and the Basilica and Doge’s Palace. A short walk where you get a good view down the canal to the bridge of sighs. Also a short walk to the Grand Canal and Vaporetto stop for the water buses. The hotel itself is tucked away down a little alley way. It was fairly noisy at night due to its location but nothing too serious beyond 12:00-1:00 am. I took ear plugs though which I would recommend. The walls are thin and we could hear people in the next room’s bathroom (we stayed in room 110). It was a small room but the bed was comfy enough and we were out all day so not too much of an issue. Shower was good and bathroom was fine but again, pretty small. All staff I spoke to were pleasant and helpful. PLEASE MAKE AN EFFORT TO TRY AND SPEAK ITALIAN AND NOT JUST ENGLISH! They really do appreciate the effort and I think that’s one of the reasons they were more helpful. I needed to use an iron and they sorted it out no problems in the dining room area when no one was eating in there. I would recommend this hotel, but bear in mind the points above but the location is very good. , Proprietario at Hotel Castello, responded to this review Dear Guest,Thank you for taking the time to share such a detailed review. We are very pleased to hear that you appreciated the excellent location of the property, its proximity to Piazza San Marco and the main attractions, as well as the friendliness and helpfulness of our staff. We are also glad that you found the bed comfortable and the room facilities suitable for your stay.We appreciate your comments regarding the room size, soundproofing, and occasional night-time noise, which will certainly help us continue improving the comfort we offer our guests. Finally, thank you for your kind note regarding the Italian language. It is always appreciated when guests make an effort to speak Italian, and we are happy to hear it contributed positively to your experience. We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you again in the future.Francesca

Great location
04 Jan 2026
Excellent location, 5 minute walk from St Marks Square and the same to the vaporetto stop to and from the airport. There were a lot of restaurants close by.The hotel is a traditional Venetian one and might not be to everyone's taste but the bed was comfortable and the shower was good.Breakfast was just adequate but the coffee was the worst I have ever tasted, I would have to say avoid it as there are plenty other places close by that serve a decent breakfast.Only hiccup was that one evening we got back to the hotel to find our room key, along with two others, sitting out on the reception counter unattended. I felt that constituted a security risk. , Proprietario at Hotel Castello, responded to this review Dear Guest,Thank you for sharing your feedback. Superb location

Recently stayed here.Excellent location with lots of eateries nearby.Overall very clean. Bed was comfortable, pillows adequate.Breakfast was also adequate but I have to say, for us,the worst coffee we have been served in 40 years. Our only problem was, when we arrived back at the hotel at about 9pm one evening, there was no reception staff present but our key, along with the keys for room no.s 126 and 153 were sitting on the reception counter for all and any to use. Not acceptable. , Proprietario at Hotel Castello, responded to this review Dear Guest,Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. Ok hotel

Centrally located, down a quiet lane. Clean room, traditionally decorated. Staff running the breakfasts were very nice and welcoming. Good value rooms for Venice. Stairs and no lift so not suitable for anyone with access issues. Good coffee with the breakfast. , Proprietario at Hotel Castello, responded to this review Dear Guest,Thank you for sharing your experience.
