    Mismatch in reality

    rating14 Sept 2024

Apartments has wonderful location. Its situated on the one hand in two steps to Realto bridge but in the quiet quarter next to nice cosy church on the other hand. The check-in procedure was fast and convenient. Good quality linen. A bottle of prosecco and 2 small bottles of water were compliments from the host. That is all good about it. We were drasticaly disappointed by the fact that all the site's or booking.com photos are old , non updated. Photos of apartment does not correspond with reality at all. Our apartment number 4 was two-storied, apparently it survived the flood of water from the roof, the room was very damp, the walls retained traces of leaks, the room was colder than outside, the heated towel rail in the bathroom did not work, after using the shower the floor became wet, water leaked through the waterproofing anyway. The shower equipment is broken. I draw attention to the fact that the gas boiler for heating water is set to a temperature of 46 degrees Celsius, which is not enough to prevent legionella from developing. You can wash, but there is a risk. The apartment is a mix of something new and worn out. It is require renovation to be charming. The stairs to the second floor creak insanely. If someone wants to go down to the toilet at night, he will wake everyone up with the noise.Houseeping is a separate story. Towels have not been changed once in 4 nights. The kettle was covered with mucus from the inside from the stagnant water. I got allergic rhinitis from the incredible dampness of the apartment in four days.

The apart hotel was nice, it was a little bit dificult to find it on those streets that sometimes has no name. About the accommodation it was great, 2 nice double room beds, kitchen and sera room, toilet . All clean and nice :) Room could be warmer

No charming, no luxury, really low budget

    rating27 Mar 2022

I am spending holidays in Venice at least twice a year, so I know different apartments in the city, this was absolutely the simplest one I have ever lived in. Not in any way some trace of charming - no „ambiente Italiana” - no luxury! I can recommend the stay to those who are looking for youth hostel style locations.

Absolutely TERRIBLE experience at Charming Palace ruined my Venice vacation

    rating23 Sept 2021

Please do yourself a favor and book elsewhere, this Charming Palace is a disaster. Here is my story. I booked a trip to Venice for my wife’s birthday. I chose this particular hotel because it’s located near Realto bridge, which is where we wanted to be. My wife has mobility issues and we needed that specific location. Additionally, we booked this place because it has a full kitchen which we were going to use because of the aforementioned mobility issues, as well as two bedrooms and canal views, and on the quiet street. The evening before our check-in we received a message from Maurizio, the owner, telling us that there is an issue with the boiler, and he will host us in a “better structure" at another hotel. I sent a message to Maurizio asking whether the hotel also has canal views, and Maurizio did not respond. Long story short, on arrival we were met by a lady who walked us to a different hotel. The hotel was almost 1km away from the Realto bridge, and again, my wife has mobility issues, so for us that was a big deal. Then the hotel did not have water views, it was above a very noisy restaurant where you could see people heads out of the window, and noisy from 8am until 11pm. Obviously no water views, there was no full kitchen, no second bedroom, there were 3 other neighboring rooms on the floor and a noisy common area, the shower was pressure was low, the water from the shower was leaking all over the bathroom and into the corridor because the shower door was not installed, and the whole Venice experience turned into a disaster.I did not reach out to Maurizio during my 2 night stay because we were not willing to move to another hotel even if he offered, due to my wife’s mobility issues, and really because we should not have been placed in that “better structure” from the very beginning. Upon my checkout, I reached out to Maurizio to work out a partial refund, because the place that he put me in was much worse that what I booked, and I am sure it was much, much cheaper too. But Maurizio refused a refund saying that I should have reach out to him sooner, and that it was unfair from my end to request refund upon check out, to which I responded that it was unfair to put me in a terrible room without the views of the canals, on the outskirts of Venice, on top of the restaurant, without working shower, without working AC, and call it a better structure.Needless to say, there are many places in Venice that you can stay in, and AVOID this place at all costs. If you already booked it, cancel it, run away from here. I normally don’t write reviews, but this place deserves 0 stars. I am working with my travel provider to refund me the trip expense, if that doesn’t work I will deal with my credit card to dispute the charge. I am also going to work with Chase / Expedia travel website to file an official complaint, and will attempt to do everything possible to delist this place from those travel websites so that other people don’t end up in the same situation that I ended up in, and instead of having good memories of Venice, being locked up in this awful Charming Palace. I will also file complain with Italian authorities such as Associazione Italiana Difesa Consumatori e Ambiente ADICONSUM and Ministero dello sviluppo economico and others. This is the WORST travel experience I ever had, and Maurizio is the worst host I ever dealt with.ALSO, please read the review that Albert AC wrote a review Sep 14 in another language on tripadvisor. Similar kind of situation. Again, in this COVID situation you have many choices. Book elsewhere. This place is a disgrace to Italy, a tourist trap, and should be avoided.

    Stunning stunning stunning

    rating21 Apr 2020

We stayed here at the start of March. Absolutely stunning views of the courtyard and stunning views of the canal. We were suppose to stay for a week but unfortunately due to corona our stay was cut short to just the 2 nights. The hotel owner from start to even now has been absolutely amazing and caring. Did everything to accommodate us and as we had to travel through Italy and Slovenia to start making our way home he was always keeping in touch to make sure we were safe. We are so very grateful and will definitely be returning
