A prison cell would be nicer

    rating22 Sept 2023

These reviews are all true. The rooms are hideous. I thought it was an exaggeration when I read about blood stained walls, but then I got into my room and the walls were indeed full of crushed mosquitoes. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. The awful manageress from across the street needs to retire I think. Either that or she has no clue about customer service. She takes any criticism personally and has no tact or integrity. Do yourself a favour and look elsewhere. The neighbourhood is also very dodgy.

    Mestre low cost

    rating22 Sept 2023

The hotel is a bit on the old side, really needs a revamp! It is good value for money with the option to have a super breakfast at their sister hotel across the road at only €5 per person!Great location but the neighborhood is terrible which is a real shame. Don't follow Google maps from the station as it takes you through a very unsafe underpass... Drug addicts shooting up and strange people. Use the exit from below the platforms of the station, direction illoa I think it's called, then the hotel is about 2 minutes away. You can get a bus or tram to and from the centre of Mestre and also to Venice. Just ask the super helpful and lovely staff, they will put you in the right direction!

    Sort of OK but weird

    rating04 Jul 2019

Yes, for proximity to the heart of Venice it's great. The room was clean and tiny, the bathroom was clean and tiny. There's no maintenance: in no particular order the TV went on but wouldn't go off, no bathroom plug, tap not rooted to the basin, coat hook falling off, shower head support had sheared off. Sister hotel opposite (Mondiale) not any better judging by the scene we witnessed at reception when leaving our bags. A euro to lodge a case for a few hours?! That has to be a first. You're close to a fab live entertainment bar here, a real surprise within a multi-national community with a heart. And there's a couple of small supermarkets too.Breakfast edible and plenty. Go if you're on a budget and because the air con works, if nothing else.

    Treated Like Dirt

    rating25 Jun 2019

We arrived about 12PM, before check-in time, but the front door was open. No one at desk and lobby empty. The maid appeared and only spoke Italian, indicating that the check-in was at 3pm. We and 2 other ladies, who had just arrived were trying to communicate to her that we should at least leave our bags in storage. She then called someone, and another woman arrived from the hotel across the street. She was speaking in Italian, and all I understood was "partir" and POLICIA! I didn't need a dictionary to understand that she threatened to call the Police if we did not leave! Then she said in perfect English, "If you don't respect the rules, I have to call the police. You cannot stay in the lobby". We didn't expect to stay in the lobby for 3 hours, just wanted to store our bags until check-in. She finally “generously" allowed us to leave the bags at the opposite hotel (4 Euros) and come back later to check in. A waste of a day. Checking out, the clerk didn't even look up from his desk, but Grunted when we dropped off the keys. Every hotel on our extensive trips to Europe has either allowed us to check in as much as 3 hours early as the rooms were readied, or, allowed us to store our bags..FOR FREE! So check the reviews. So,If you want a pretty crummy hotel, that offers NO service, and is willing to waste your whole day, then treat you like a piece of dirt upon leaving, then the City of Art Venice Lloyd hotel is for you, unless you like losing time and money, then go elsewhere!

    A complete scam

    rating07 Sept 2018

We booked a room here for one night as we had a very early train to catch the next morning and arrived late at night. I booked the room via Expedia and later emailed the hotel to let them know we would be arriving after 10pm due to flight delays, which they said was no problem. When we arrived we were told we had no booking and that they didn’t have a room for us and had nothing to do with Expedia. The man at the front desk just kept shrugging at my confirmation email and said he didn’t care that I’d paid and that we couldn’t stay at his hotel. He was extremely rude and aggressive. He ended up leading us to a dingy squat of a hotel across the road and telling us to stay there. The rooms here were so vile we would have been better off staying on the street; the walls are covered in blood from squashed mosquitoes and the floor was absolutely filthy (not the mention the vile smell). We didn’t want to use the filthy and ancient bathroom and could not sleep as this is a dangerous area and the hotel felt so dodgy!! After reading other reviews this must be a scam they pull often, forcing guests who book in their hotel to stay in the repulsive squat across the road (as I can’t imagine anyone would willingly stay in such appalling conditions). Avoid this place like the absolute plague (since I think there’s a pretty high risk of getting the plague of you stay here!)
