    This is a 5 Star hotel for location and ascetic beauty. We had one of thw few rooms with a Grand Canal view. Spectacular! However, the maintenance was lacking...toilet flush was sporadically failing, A/C was purely a facade, drains were slow at best. The reason this rating gets reduced to a 3 star i( really should be 2.5) s the staff...especially the front desk. Indifferent and condescending would be the polite way to describe MOST of the front desk staff. Rude and apathetic would be more accurate. When I book a 4-5 star hotel, I expect excellent service. If that's what you are looking for in Venice, stay somewhere else. The Hotel Monaco has the customer experience if a Best Western

    Excellent location, luxurious accommodations, friendly staff and huge breakfast (ours was included with our room). The bathtub was huge with a standard European setup and overhead rain shower (very light pressure from the rain shower). The bed was slightly firm (typical European) but comfortable. We chose to eat out in the cafes for lunch and dinners as there are many many close by. Plenty of shops, restaurants and gelaterias. Pizzeria 1000 was the best red sauce spaghetti I had had so far (see separate review). Plenty of good desert places but a must try is IL Salotto Disan Marco for Tiramisu (see separate review). For super convenience you can get a gondola ride at the hotel entrance (water side). There is a stocked mini fridge with typical high prices for items. There is also a City tax you have to pay at checkout 18 Euro for our 2 night stay. The hotel has a concierge as well for any help with restaurant reservations or other needs.

    Great location if you want to be near San Marco. Breakfast was awesome with a teenager. We loved sitting on the deck overlooking the canal for breakfast. Hotel staff is lovely. Get a room with a view of the canal! Hotel can arrange a boat pick up from the airport. Beds were comfortable.

    We recently stayed at this hotel to celebrate a very special occasion, as we had just gotten engaged the day before arriving. Prior to our stay, I reached out to the hotel to see if they could help arrange something small for my partner (fully willing to pay), but unfortunately never received any response.From the moment we arrived, the experience was disappointing. While the gentlemen assisting with our luggage were helpful and friendly, the rest of the staff were quite the opposite. At check-in, we mentioned our engagement, hoping for at least a simple acknowledgment, but it was completely brushed off without even a “congratulations,” which felt surprisingly cold.We asked for restaurant recommendations for our celebration and were handed a map with just two places circled, with no explanation or personal touch. It felt like minimal effort at best.The issues continued at checkout. We had left our bags with reception, and when we returned to collect them, we were left waiting for over 20 minutes. We had a boat taxi booked, so this delay caused unnecessary stress and we had to rush the staff to retrieve them.Overall, aside from the location, this hotel fell far below expectations. The lack of communication, poor service, and indifferent attitude made what should have been a memorable celebration feel disappointing. We regret spending our money here and would not recommend this hotel to others.
