Unfortunately my experience of this hotel was upsetting and disappointing. I booked a water taxi through reception and because of incorrect information I was sent I was unable to use the specific company. On arrival at the hotel myself and my daughter were met with a rant from the man behind reception who berated us and told us he would have to pay for the water taxi out of his own pocket (as if). There was no warm welcome to Venice and we felt completely bullied and belittled. I was able to find the email he had sent us to clarify that we were given the wrong information but he still didn’t back down. It was very awkward most mornings coming out of the lift opposite reception and being blanked by him. Our room was good with comfortable beds and breakfast was ok. The bread basket was very nice. The rest of the hotel staff we came across were very friendly. So no, I wouldn’t stay here again. I’m still upset that a holiday we were so looking forward to had such a bad start.

We stayed here for 4 nights and really loved our stay. The rooms where excellent and the bed was comfy. The decor is very Venetian and everything was so clean. It is ideally located so you can walk into the main centre in less then 30 minutes. We arrived on the shuttle bus and this stops at the rear of the hotel which is ideal. We had breakfast which was fresh.The staff were all very helpful and polite.

This is an excellent hotel for many reasons. It is very easy to access from the train station without feeling like you are in the hustle and bustle of a station area. The building is quite lovely with a great view from my room, a deck upstairs with Grand Canal view, and a delicious breakfast. And most especially, the staff are exceptional. I unfortunately got sick on my trip and they went above and beyond to help me get care and support to heal in their beautiful space. The personal care and concern by the front of desk and restaurant staff was incredible. I will definitely recommend and return in the future, hopefully healthy and ready to re-explore Venice and the surrounding areas with all their helpful tips and advice. Thank you!

We Could Not Have Chosen Better

Of the hundreds of hotels in Venice, we found the Santa Chiara Hotel on a list of those within easy walking distance of the Piazzale Roma, where our bus left us with our luggage. What a find! The service was excellent, the staff was knowledgeable, the room was quiet, the bed was comfortable, and the breakfast was superb. We would return to Santa Chiara without question.

We loved our three-night stay at this hotel, which was a real highlight of our rail journey around Italy. The location was great for us with the hotel being around 5 minutes walk from the station across Ponte Della Costituzione (as well as being right next to the Piazzale Roma vaporetto stop). A few minutes walk takes you to Fondamente del Monastero from where it's a lovely 20 minute walk through the quieter Santa Croce/San Polo districts to Rialto and around a further 10-15 minutes to San Marco. Check in was very quick and efficient - we were able to access our room a little earlier than the advertised check-in time. Our room (306), which was in the older part of the hotel with views of the Rio Nuovo, was beautifully appointed and met all our expectations. Breakfast was lovely - views of the Hrand Canal, plenty of choice with everything prepared/cooked to order rather than being buffet style. We hope to return to Venice again in future and wouldn't hesitate to book this hotel for a second visit.
