Location

With its quiet location in a typical Venetian square, this historic hotel enjoys close proximity to the 16th-century Giovanni Crisostomo Theatre, today the Malibran Theatre, home to an important season of chamber music. The centre of Venice is just a 10-minute walk from the hotel, which occupies the spot where Marco Polo's house was once located. It is just a 5-minute walk from the Rialto Bridge with its quaint fish market, and the Church of Saints John and Paul, where the Doges were crowned and buried, and which ranks among the finest examples of Venetian Gothic architecture. In the immediate vicinity, guests can also admire the Church of Santa Maria dei Miracoli, a veritable jewel of the renaissance, lined throughout with polychromatic marble. Visitors are advised to allow themselves the time to immerse themselves fully in the monumental splendour of Saint Mark's Square.

Guests have a choice of 5 junior suites and 48 double rooms located in a 3-storey main building and a 2-storey auxiliary building.     Comfortable old world Venetian hotel

    My husband grew up in the neighborhood so we have been staying at Hotel Santa Marina for many years. We got a suite this time and my son and his wife stayed in a junior suite. We always go back because it’s a comfortable, old world Venetian hotel. Staff are helpful. Feels like home.

    Terrible customer service phone call.

    I just had an incredibly terrible conversation with a representative of the hotel. I called internationally to see if I could have my call connected to my parents’ room. He explained their privacy policy which I understand. I stated that I was not asking for their room number or anything, just didn’t know if there was a way that he, as operator according to the phone call, could transfer my call. He stated no and I thanked him. My husband suggested that maybe what I should have asked is if I can leave a message for them. I called back. It was the same gentleman. I stated that I had just called and I was wondering if there was an option to leave a message. He repeated the privacy info again. I said I don’t need any information. I have their names, I am not asking their names, I just wanted to see if leaving them a message for them to call their daughter was possible. He rudely said with a grunt I don’t understand why you don’t have WhatsApp to leave a message, it’s 2025 (which actually it’s 2026) - I started to say, their phone location and everything turned off and they were supposed to be there three hours ago, but I got up to turned off, and he grunted again mumbled something that sounded like ridiculous and hung up/slammed the phone down on me. I could hear the hang up, not a disconnect. I hope my elderly parents who have had the worst travel experience so far with everything set up for them cancelling and them having to find their own way in a foreign country, actually found their own way, and that when they get to this hotel they were very excited about, that their customer service experience is better than what I just encountered. 😔

    Very nice, cozy, comfortable stay at hotel santa marina. Can be accessed by water taxi. Hotel close to many tourist attractions. Breakfast amazing and a good varietyvfor vegetarians. Overall wonderful stay

    Perfect location, about 10 mins stroll to Rialto, 15 to St Marks Square. The hotel is pleasant, with excellent staff. Spotlessly clean, with comfortable beds. 4 stars instead of 5, for three reasons. Only one electric point for chargers etc that I could find in the room. Steep marble staircases making this a poor choice for anybody with even mildly impaired mobility. WiFi didn't work in our rooms.

    Absolutely Loved this hotel. Out whole venice holiday was lovely but this was definitely a place you could come back and relax. The bed was so comfy, bathroom lovely and clean. Staff friendly and helpful. We had breakfast every morning which was lovely. Pancake with chocolate where unreal! Highly recommend. Its located perfectly for you to be able to venture out and see all the sights and hot spots, amazing food EVERYWHERE ranging from a 2mins to 30 mins walk, i can’t recommend enough how much we enjoyed our stay. Theres a little shop opposite to and some cafes that come to life at night time. Can’t wait to go back! 10/10
