Very negative experience at Hotel La Fenice et Des Artistes. The main issue was the cleanliness of the room. The wallpaper/fabric wall covering was covered with a large amount of dust, visibly stuck to the wall surface. This was not just a minor cleaning issue, but a clear lack of proper maintenance. This dusty environment directly affected our stay, as my partner experienced respiratory problems during the stay. The room also showed several signs of poor maintenance: detached skirting boards, neglected finishes, visible marks on the walls, and a makeshift air-conditioning installation with an exposed cable and a poorly integrated unit.Another important point: the room we received did not match the room selected on Booking. The photos and presentation shown at the time of booking did not reflect the actual room we were given. We reported the situation to the hotel, but no compensation or satisfactory solution was offered. As the payment had already been made through Booking, the hotel did not seem willing to handle the issue seriously.Considering the price paid, this experience was unacceptable. A formal complaint and dispute are currently ongoing with Booking, with photos provided as evidence.I do not recommend this hotel unless serious improvements are made regarding room cleanliness, maintenance, and the accuracy between the rooms advertised on Booking and the rooms actually assigned.

    Great staff and location

    rating08 Apr 2026

Room a bit disappointing could do with a makeover, supposed town view from a window so high you had to stand on tiptoe to see out just looked at a wall 15ft awayHowever, on the plus side the hotel's location could not be better and the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful

Hotel La Fenice Et Des Artistes is a 3-star Superiore which performs well beyond its official rating

    rating01 Apr 2026

The Hotel La Fenice Et Des Artistes is a 3-star Superiore which performs well beyond its official rating. Whilst very close to the La Fenice Opera House it is situated in a small quiet square and avoids the hustle and bustle that you get around the Opera House. The rear of the hotel overlooks another small quiet square. The buildings opposite the rear of the hotel are used by the opera house performers. Sometimes in the rear facing rooms, particularly if you have your window open you can hear some of the performers rehearsing. But this is never intrusive or annoying. It is a good location for exploring Venice. You are close to the Piazza St Angelo where you can continue across the edge of the square to head towards the St Angelo stop for the Vaporetto (water bus) and Alilaguna (airport Service) stop. Or, turn left diagonally across the square for the shortest route to the Accademia Bridge and on towards Ferrovia (Venezia St Lucia railway station). If you start from the La Fenice Opera house there are several routes to take you towards San Marco (10 to 15 minutes) and onwards. In Venice once you gain a sense of the direction you are heading for, all roads lead to your destination. It is of course the staff that ultimately make or break any hotel. For the Hotel La Fenice we would rate all of the staff as excellent. Over the years that we have visited we have seen a few changes in staff (retirement etc.) and when new staff are recruited, they always have the same ethos, customer focus and are friendly and helpful. This of course is both a tribute to the staff themselves and the hotel management who choose the correct people for the job and also create such a good working atmosphere to enable their staff flourish. We usually visit in mid to late March and always look forwards to our return. It is always like a return visit to see family or old friends. Fenice_Staff, at Hotel La Fenice Et Des Artistes, responded to this review Dear Guest, thank you for your wonderful and detailed review and for your loyalty to Hotel La Fenice et Des Artistes over the years. We are delighted that you appreciate the unique atmosphere of our historic hotel, located in a quiet Venetian square just steps away from the famous La Fenice Opera House, as well as our convenient location for exploring Venice.Your kind words about our staff truly mean a lot to us. Small but clean room but not wheelchair friendly

    rating02 Mar 2026

Venice has no cars so having walking access to key sights is essential. As part of the Rick Steves tour, this hotel was centrally located behind the opera house and several blocks from St Mark's Square and water taxis. Getting to the hotel from the airport requires google maps and the ability to get lost and figure out the path. The hotel room was clean, small, excellent blackout drapes, a keyed safe, comfortable bed and small shower. They have an early breakfast included. If you can't walk a quarter mile without assistance, this is not for you since you have to walk up stairs and to the sights. in fact, Venice is not for those with mobility problems. I found the front desk staff friendly and helpful.

Lovely hotel in the perfect spot

    rating31 Dec 2025

I spent three days here with my daughter and we both loved the hotel. From the moment we walked in the staff were super friendly, welcoming and very helpful. The hotel is in the perfect spot - close to everything we wanted to see, but far enough from the main attractions to be nice and quiet when we wanted to rest.
