Great Pictures, But Not A Great Experience!

This was not the experience we were hoping for... Although the photos and appearance of the Hotel sold us online, this experience fell well below our expectations. Location was the best being in the Theater District and an 8 minute walk to either St. Marks Sq. or the Vaparetto Giglio Ferry on the Grand Canal. First we stayed in room 204 which had a very hard (think plywood) bed which was 2 singles put together with no fitted sheets so I basically slept on the raw mattress half the time. The noise coming up from the cafe below was very loud and lasted till 10pm each night. We also had a conflict with the tall dark haired male desk attendant after arranging to buy a very cool Venetian Mask in their lobby curio they were selling for a local vendor. We went to that vendors shop about 5 min walk away and he called the other female desk attendant at the hotel to arrange for us to buy it at $60. So, when we arrived to pay for it and pick it up, the male attendant argued with us and dismissed his female colleague in front of us wanting to charge us $75 instead. It wasn't until we had him call the shopkeeper to confirm the agreed upon price at $60 did he agree to everything. But he was told this by us and his colleague and was a jerk to everyone anyway, including his colleague over $15. Overall, the Staff was just trained to do their job and did not demonstrate the level of customer engagement or experience we would expect from their prices. In other words, nobody did more than necessary and we could feel it. For what they charge, you can do much better! Go somewhere else if you want a premium experience. The price quoted at the artisan’s shop and the price applied by the hotel are not the same, as the hotel purchases the item from the supplier and resells it on the premises at its own retail price. The €15 difference was therefore not an initiative taken by our receptionist, nor an attempt to charge you an arbitrary additional amount.We are nevertheless sorry that the situation was not explained clearly at the time and that the conversation gave you a negative impression. Communication with our guests should always remain courteous and professional, and we will certainly review what happened with the team.We also take note of your comments regarding the bed, the noise and the level of interaction with our staff. It’s a very hard to find hotel. Trip Advisor lists it under a different name so getting directions was hard. The hotel was good overall.

Hotel single rooms are very small for the price but the hotel is nice and location is excellent. My only problem is that the bar connected to the hotel charges 7 euro for water which I felt was excessive. The hotel rooms could use some upgrades on sheets.

Stayed here for 2 nights and had a wonderful time. The staff was so welcoming and the room we stayed in was adorable and everything was very clean. Would definitely recommend!
